"We contracted with High Five Plumbing to purchase and install a 40 gallon water heater to replace a 21-year-old unit. Our experience with the company was terrific. Members of the office staff were cordial, helpful, and professional, providing options and information, following-up on appointments, etc. Caleb, who installed the water heater, is a real pro and a good guy who answered all our questions and provided a thorough explanation of the various services offered by High Five. He is a credit to his company. We didn't have a plumber on our contacts list. We do now. Cliff Foster, Denver"

"Dimi responded almost immediately to my request for a quote. His quote was clear and competitive. His installer Andon was prompt, courteous, professional and neat. Explained everything well. Very solid work at a very fair price -- highly recommended, and about 30% less expensive than Home Depot's installers and other Angie's List bidders."

"We recently had a water softener system installed by American Plumbing, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. From start to finish, their team was professional, knowledgeable, and easy to work with They took the time to explain the installation process. The installation itself was smooth and efficient, and everything was completed with great attention to detail. Since the install, we’ve already noticed a significant improvement in water quality—softer water, and better overall performance. We highly recommend this company."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

When a backflow valve fails, wastewater will flow back into your system, contaminating your drinking water. You’ll immediately notice backflow valve failure from a rotten smell and brown water coming from faucets. Get in contact with a septic pro or a plumber immediately if you suspect this has happened to you.

To test for toilet leaks, use water coloring in the water tank and see if the water slips into the bowl from the tank. This test will indicate if there’s a problem with the flapper or refill tube. You can also put water coloring in the bowl of the toilet to see if there is a leak there. If there is, you should see the colored water on the outside of the toilet bowl or on the floor.

There are a couple of similar alternatives you may consider for a sewage ejector pump, including a grinder pump or a submersible sump pump. Submersible sump pumps protect your home from flooding from outside water, though, rather than handling wastewater from inside. A grinder pump macerates, or shreds, solid waste before pumping it onward to the sewer line.

Installing a battery backup for your sump pump is recommended, particularly if you live in an area with frequent power outages or severe rainstorms. A sump pump requires electricity to function, and a battery backup ensures it can continue to move water out of your home if the power goes out, providing crucial protection against flooding. Additionally, frequent power outages can create electrical surges that might damage the sump pump's motor. A battery backup system offers an additional layer of protection, ensuring your basement stays dry.

Grinder pumps alone cost $300 on average. The average cost to install a new grinder pump is between $2,000 and $4,000, including the pump and labor. This price can also change based on the exact type of grinder pump you choose, labor costs in your area, and the power system your home currently has.
