"The plumber that came out was quite nice and the job was well done, which is why I'd use their services again. The only down side being that I scheduled them for around 2:00 pm and due to their previous job and some trouble navigating, the provider did not get to my place until past 6:00 pm. Which was an issue because I was very limited for time that particular day.  "

"On the first visit, it was a simple fix underneath the sink.  Work was completed to my satisfaction.  The second visit that week, the problem was identified, however, I made the choice to not have it fixed due to cost.
In both cases, I was pleased with the response and evaluation of the problem(s).

"On December 23, my furnace stopped working. I contacted Les at DMC Services in the afternoon and he was at my house at 8:45 the next morning with a new furnace (mine was 37 years old and beyond fixing). By noon I had the old furnace completely removed and the new one installed and working. The quality of the work was very good with only a little pile of soot left on the floor. I was also very impressed that Les came out on Christmas eve and was able to finish the job so quickly as the house was getting cold.

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

If you have the patience and help to install a kitchen sink, you can do it yourself. This DIY project works best when replacing a sink that fits the existing hole, and the fittings and plumbing are in good condition. If you're worried about the plumbing's condition or aren't sure how to shut the water and power off to the garbage disposal and dishwasher, it's best left to a sink installation pro.

Install the sink between 30 inches and 34 inches away from the floor. However, this height could be adjusted accordingly for particularly tall or short residents. To accommodate wheelchair users, the vanity should leave a space underneath that is at least 29 inches tall, 30 inches wide, and 25 inches deep.

Porcelain and enamel sinks have very similar appearances, but they aren’t the same. Porcelain is a ceramic made from natural clay, while enamel is a strong powder that’s glazed over a metal sink. Use a magnet to determine whether you have an enamel or porcelain sink. If a strong magnet sticks to the sink, it’s likely enamel. If it doesn’t, you probably have a porcelain sink. You can also use the model number on the sink (often found on the underside of the bowl) or information from the manufacturer to determine the material.

Vanities may come with a countertop and sink but won’t include faucets. You’ll need to purchase your faucets separately from a home improvement or hardware store. When shopping for a fixture, you’ll have plenty of bathroom faucet types to choose from. Think about your vanity and bathroom aesthetics and what you need when deciding. Single-handle and centerset faucets work well in any space, while widespread, bridge, and wall-mount fixtures work in modern bathrooms.

Many homeowners stress about cleaning before an emergency plumber arrives, but you’re far better off doing the following while you wait for your plumber to get to your home:

  • Shut the water off at your water main if you have a leak or a burst pipe

  • Avoid using any water fixtures in your home, including appliances

  • Clear a path to the problem area so that it’s easily accessible

  • Consider shutting your breaker if you’re concerned that the leak may affect your electrical system
