"Jerry was able to come out the day I contacted him for an estimate and completed the job in the same day. He did a great job on adding privacy tint to a large 5x5 window. He was professional, personable and worked fast. I am recommending Jerry at Sun King Solar to friends and family in need of window film. Great Job."

"We used Ben Johnson with Jammin' Films, 303.717.4804. He did excellent work! He was very professional and answered all of our questions. We will definitely hire him again, if we want more windows tinted in our home. We can tell the difference, with windows facing west, and WOW! The difference is HUGE! We had DR15 put on the three upper windows, and DR35 put on the lower windows. Wow! YES! You can't go wrong with Ben Johnson and Jammin' Films, for your home window tinting needs. Thanks!"

"It was a decent experience. Kurt and team were courteous and worked hard. We did have to have some of the films replaced due to bubbles that did not dissipate over time with heat curing. They did replace it and it looks much better. But in the process of trying to address the bubbling, the time frame at which the bubbles should magically self-cure and disappear kept extending from 2 weeks, to 4 weeks, to 6 weeks. That part was rather frustrating."

Window Tinting questions, answered by experts

ENERGY STAR®-certified windows are the most energy-efficient windows on the market. This certification means that the window meets strict efficiency guidelines set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency. While they might cost more upfront, they can save you money on your energy bills in the long run. ENERGY STAR®-certified windows lower household energy bills by an average of 12% annually.

Applying window security film yourself is possible, but we don’t recommend it. This task is simple in theory, but getting the product to sit on your windows evenly and without bubbles underneath is challenging for DIYers who lack the necessary experience and tools. You might save money on labor by applying it yourself, but you might also end up with a film that doesn’t look appealing, prompting you to start over and spend the money on a professional installation anyway. Plus, most window film manufacturers will void your warranty if you install the product yourself.

The average cost for home window tinting is around $600, with most homeowners paying between $150 and $1,600. Costs can also be calculated per square foot, typically ranging from $2 to $100, or per window at around $75 each. For example, tinting one or two windows might cost between $200 and $350, while a larger project of 13 to 15 windows could range from $4,124 to $4,747.

Several factors influence the total project cost, with the number and size of the windows being the most significant. Other key factors include the type, shade, and quality of the tint film, as well as labor costs. Additional treatments, such as low-emissivity (low-E) coatings, can also increase material costs.

Window tinting offers several benefits, such as making your home more energy-efficient by blocking harsh sunlight, protecting furniture from fading, and increasing privacy. For this reason, many homeowners choose to tint only the windows in specific areas where direct sunlight and privacy are primary concerns.

The most popular tint percentage for home windows is 35%. Generally, most homeowners choose a visible light transmission (VLT) between 50% and 35%, where lower numbers mean less sunlight enters the home. A 35% tint blocks over half the incoming light while still allowing plenty of natural light, which can improve energy efficiency and comfort. If privacy is a primary concern, you can opt for a tint of 50% or lower to make it more difficult for people to see inside. However, keep in mind that very dark, thick tints may offer fewer energy-efficiency benefits.

Unlike cars, there are no laws regulating window tint percentages on homes, so you can choose what you think is best. It is often a good idea to hire a professional, as they can show you samples of how different tint levels will look in your specific property, helping you make the right choice.

Window security film won’t prevent break-ins or stop your window from shattering from impact during extreme weather like hurricanes or tornadoes. However, applying security film is relatively inexpensive, and it can make breaking into your home significantly harder—often hard enough to deter burglars entirely—and keep your window from shattering on your floor after impact. For these reasons, window security film is often a worthwhile investment that helps protect your property.
