"Victor and Ricky were very helpful from the beginning and during the installation. These guys are professional, very knowledgeable, skillful, and did a superb job. After getting a few bids from different contractors, I awarded the installation of a complete HVAC system because they were easy to communicate with and always willing to answer questions and provided the best price for my system. They really worked with me more than the other prospective contractors. I would highly recommend Victor and Ricky for any HVAC Job repair or complete installation. I would hire them again. Ben"

"AC was repaired timely and professionally by Tommy and his helper and then Juan and Edgar followed up two days later by installing blown in cellulose insulation in my attic to help ensure the efficient operation of my HVAC system. It's been hellaciously hot this past couple of weeks, yet these guys all did a bang up job, despite the heat. Fair price, professional, personable and efficient service. I would definitely recommend The Right Choice Heating and Air team to friends and neighbors!"

"My 40 year old HVAC died a horrible death in the middle of a 110° heatwave! We got 3 estimates and Season Control honored an estimate we received a few months ago when we were just exploring what the replacement cost would be. They honored their “winter rate”! Juan and Javier were clean, professional, funny and VERY HARD WORKING. Remember they were working IN that 110° heat! The lesson here? If you even just think you’ll need to replace your HVAC don’t do it in the summer when EVERY HVAC companies’ prices go up, and their availability goes down!"

"I talked to Michael and honesty was up front and that was important to me. The work got done in a timely manner and I now have heat in my home all thanks to Michael and his partner. I would like to add that they replace my furnace within 2 days and I appreciate them and would recommend them, which I already have"

"Needed an old out of date home HVAC unit replaced. Anatol was quick to call back, worked clean and was even able to save me some money! New unit works great, is quieter than old unit and is overall more energy efficient. Thanks again!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

If your whole house is cold that’s one thing, but what if you only have a few rooms that are cold? First, you need to determine why this may be happening. A good place to start is to investigate the potential causes listed in this article—heat transfer, airflow, thermostat problems, humidity, and insulation. Once you’ve narrowed down the issue, you’d apply the same principles to the cold rooms as you would to the entire home.

Setting your AC unit to 78 degrees can, indeed, help you save energy. In fact, according to experts, every degree you turn the unit up could save you between 1% and 3% on your energy bills. That said, turning your unit off entirely while you’re out might actually be less efficient than keeping it on at a higher temperature. Why? The unit will need to work extra hard to cool the house back off again after all those hot hours.

This is a bit of a trick question. Even though the seasons arrive at the same time every year, the weather doesn’t always behave according to the calendar. So, while it’s fair to say that you can expect to turn on your AC starting in late May or early June, it all depends on the outside temperature and how cool you like to keep your home.

Your heating and cooling systems cost you the most on your electric bill and make up 50% of your bill on average. Your washing machine, dryer, oven, and stove contribute significantly to your electric bill as well. Lights, fans, and smaller electronics add up, but aren’t the biggest energy consumers. You can reduce your power usage by setting optimal temperatures on your thermostat and investing in energy-efficient appliances.

While most air conditioners can last between 10 and 20 years, they will only last this long (or longer) if properly taken care of. Routine maintenance and inspections help keep your AC unit running in tip-top shape but understanding what factors will decrease its lifespan will also help keep your unit running cool.

Some things that shorten your AC’s lifespan include:

  • Extreme outdoor conditions, like high humidity or extensive salt spray

  • Improper installation

  • Extended run times, either by the unit being too small or the thermostat setting too low

  • Not performing required maintenance
