"We noticed a foul smell coming from one of the vents in our HVAC system. We turned the system off and called AC Dave. Dave sent Justin and James to troubleshoot the problem. They quickly found a tear in one of our ducts--and the remains of a dead rodent. They cut open the duct, cleaned it and resealed it. We had heat again, about an hour after they arrived. To keep your air conditioner in good working condition, you should have it serviced by a professional at least once per year, ideally in the spring before the cooling season begins. If your AC unit is 10 years or older, consider servicing it twice a year (once in the spring and once in the fall) to catch potential problems early and help it reach its full lifespan. During a service visit, a technician will inspect, clean, and replace parts as needed. Regular maintenance helps avoid costly repairs. As a DIY task, you can also clean the evaporator coils annually.

You may never need an AC recharge if there are no leaks. However, if your AC unit has a leak that cannot be patched appropriately, you’ll need an AC recharge every time the freon level drops low enough that it disrupts your system—this could be once every two to three years. It all depends on the size and frequency of the leak.

Both evaporator coils and condenser coils are recyclable and contain valuable, sellable metals such as copper and aluminum.
