"It was excellent! The tree is stunning and they shaped it perfectly! They removed dead branches, treated fungus, were quick and professional. They cleaned up the yard after themselves as well. Very thorough, fantastic company!"

Customers say: Quick response

"We contacted Osmin at Escarate's Tree Service. He came out and we walked around with him and told him all the things that we wanted done. He surveyed everything and gave us a quote, which we accepted. They came on time - early, actually. They did remarkable work. We could not be more pleased. We wanted several trees trimmed/thinned out. They are arborists, not tree choppers. After they finished, one of the men took me around to see what all had been done. Everything looks great. They left everything looking better than it did before they came. We are very satisfied, and would hire again."

"Reyes Tree Service worked two days at my residence, First in the front cutting down a tree damaged by the previous drought and taking out an overgrown hedge of volunteer figs against the house wall with overgrown stumps. They excelled in their work and even went beyond what they said they were originally able to do. The second day they trimmed and pruned everything in the back yard, including all of the citrus trees that had never been professionally trimmed or pruned in thirty years, Five crew members worked the entire second day on the backyard and it came out way better than I imagined. I will now probably use them to trim everything on my property at least once a year. All their work was quality and I would definitely recommend them to anyone for the excellent quality of their work and customer service."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The speed of your tree root removal process depends on a few different factors, including the size and type of tree. However, the fastest method of killing tree roots is applying chemical herbicide, which starts working quickly and efficiently. But this removal method has its drawbacks, such as having a negative effect on the surrounding vegetation and landscaping. Other options like rock salt and stump grinding work relatively quickly and cause less damage to your yard.

No. Topping a tree refers to severely cutting down all its major branches and tree in a straight line. It was once recommended for streetside deciduous trees but has fallen out of practice. Topping leads to many problems, removing so much of the tree that many trees struggle to survive and become much more vulnerable to insects and diseases. Also, it doesn’t really help tree growth as once assumed and often leads to an ugly appearance of many sprouting stems in competition to become new main branches.

A pro can guide you on the alternatives to tree topping depending on the specific issues within your trees. For example, if you’re dealing with breakage and cracks in your tree, they may suggest canopy reduction, which removes less than 25% of the tree’s limbs. If you’re dealing with lesser damage, some intentional pruning may be all you need. If you’re looking to get a clearer view through your tree, the pro may also try windowing or skirting your tree.

Tree experts don’t advise against digging through tree roots, but instead encourage caution and consultation with a local arborist to make sure you don’t damage the tree’s structure or interrupt its water or nutrient intake. An arborist can recommend specific practices when digging and help prune the roots or dig a trench for utilities with a tool that can remove soil without touching the tree’s roots.

The best plan of action for an unhealthy or unsafe tree will depend on its condition. An arborist can recommend whether trimming or removal is the right call for your tree. Preventive tree trimming can keep trees safe and healthy, so make regular tree trimming a part of your yard maintenance plan.
