"I have yet to meet a young man who is as professional and pleasant as Milquel. He removed several tree stumps in an amazing amount of time. He cleaned the site. He was one of the very best contractors I had ever hired I am looking to employ him in future projects. He responded to my inquiry promptly. He was on time for the project. I could not have been more pleased with him . His price was fair. NANCY D"

"I recently had Lead Saw Tree Service take out a tree from my yard, and it was such a breeze. They were super easy to deal with from the moment I asked for a quote to when they showed up on time and got the job done within the schedule they promised. It made my day so much easier and stress-free. I'd definitely recommend Lead Saw Tree Service for any tree removal job."

"Robert Duran and his crew from 3-D Tree Services, Inc. were top notch today from the quote/survey to completion! I am amazed how quick, efficient, professional and kind this entire team is to work with! This was a tough job (Old/Invasive Pepper Tree). The crew was in sync with each other, allowing the process to be quick and safe. I’m so happy I found them through Home Advisor and the response to my inquiry was quick. Thank you everyone! Referrals will flow!"

"I had a landscaping design/build company until illness kept me from continuing. I felt like I was in good and knowledgeable hands when Rock came out for the estimate - he is an arborist so he understood exactly what I wanted. His crew showed up on time and were very professional with a very capable foreman who interpreted Rock's job description accurately, so the job was done perfectly and the place was clean afterwards."

"Jose was easily accessible when getting a quote. Once he saw our place, he gave a quote right away. Jose and his crew did a great job removing a large tree in front of my house including removing the stump. They also trimmed and balanced another large tree that overhung the garage. They also did a great job trimming, removing and clearing out dead trees, branches and other debris in our hillside backyard. Their price was a great value they were easy to work with and were very accommodating with my schedule. They even had an unexpected stop because my neighbor made an unwarranted complained but which I had to deal with. They were gracious in dealing with my neighbor and overall kept our goodwill intact. Our home is on a hillside which posed challenges with equipment but Jose and his crew managed the logistics very well."

Arborists FAQs, answered by experts

Most trees can be successfully transplanted while they are young, but pines, walnuts, and some oak tree varieties are more difficult to move because their root systems grow deeper than most other trees. Also, trees adapted to sandy soil with wide root systems like beeches, willows, and aspens are harder to dig out because their roots spread much farther out from the trunk. In these cases, unless the trees are very young and small, it’s a good idea to consult a tree planting professional.

Only trim palm trees as needed, which is usually about once per year. However, don't stick to that schedule if the palm tree doesn't need it. Avoid trimming palm trees when possible. It’s best to trim palm trees only when you notice a buildup of dead fronds. That said, leave the brown fronds during the dormant season because this organic matter helps protect the tree from the cooler weather.

Not all leaning trees are dangerous, but they can be a hazard as gravity may eventually cause them to fall. A key factor is whether the lean is new or has been present for a long time. Trees that have grown with a lean for years are not typically an immediate danger, but a sudden lean is a cause for concern as it often indicates weakening roots. If a tree is leaning more than 15% from vertical, you should consider having it straightened or transplanted. To be safe, it's always best to hire a professional arborist to inspect any leaning tree to assess the risk and avoid potential accidents.

Yes, it’s possible to overwater a newly-planted tree. Daily watering is great for the first few weeks, but it’s important not to go overboard. Excessive watering can lead to various problems, including root rot, fungal diseases, and a lack of root development.

In the case that a tree is growing directly on your property line, the cost of maintaining the tree is shared and is the property of both owners in common. In this case, all decisions regarding the maintenance of the tree must be made jointly, and both parties must agree on a course of action. You will need to agree with your neighbor about the cutting of any roots before you carry it out, and your neighbor must also consult with you before doing any trimming. Coming to an agreement with your neighbor about any shared trees ahead of necessary trimming and maintenance will make this process much simpler.
