Customers say: True professional

"WOW! Scott is a 10+++ in my book! From estimate to completion he is a first rate guy and I would highly recommend you call him first for any flooring maintenance needs you have. He is timely, considerate, very reasonably priced, very professional and most of all his work and work ethic is above and beyond! We just purchased a home and the hardwood floors were abnormally shiny. When other companies told us we needed to re-finish the floors for ten's of thousand of dollars, Scott explained and showed us how the floors were just a victim to an over application of Bona Hardwood Floor Polish.  He said he could clean them back to their original glory and he did! Our floors look brand new and Scott and his crew did it for almost  1/10th the price other companies wanted to charge us. We have almost 5,000 sq feet of flooring that Scott worked on for 2 days. Yesterday he and his crew were there for almost 11 hours working diligently; they were committed to getting the job done! They even threw in my balcony. At the end of the day he and his crew were just as kind and pleasant as they were when starting the job! They worked so hard. We have already talked to him about coming back and taking care of the discolored tile in our courtyard. Wish all contractors and service people ran their business like Scott does!

"Subject I had an excellent experience working with this wooden floor specialist Bryon. From start to finish, he was professional, personable, and extremely accommodating. He took the time to clearly explain the damage to my flooring, what repairs were needed, and provided an accurate and honest assessment of both the scope of work and the timeframe to complete it. The job was completed efficiently and exactly as described, with great attention to detail. The repaired flooring looks fantastic, and the work was done on schedule with no surprises. I truly appreciated his professionalism, clear communication, and respect for my home. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of wooden floor repairs or restoration. See 3 pics for damaged wooden floor and fourth picture of completed floor to the left of photo. He did a suburb job and yes, I will be hiring and recommending him to my friends, relatives and neighbors. Best Regards, Darryl Kimble of Hawthorne, CA"

"I can’t recommend Royal Oak Flooring highly enough. My wife and I met Laurie at her shop on Ventura Blvd. (suggest you make an appointment to ensure finding her there) in order to figure out whether Royal Oak could accommodate what we were trying to do. Previously we’d talked with 2 big-box stores and 2 small flooring shops but they all seemed to be trying to sell us very basic (but cheaper) installations. We wanted a floor with a thin black strip about 5” in from the wall to serve as a border. We also wanted mitered 45-degree corners rather than butted. The Royal Oak store is not large, compared to, say, Floors & Decor, but it has an overwhelming variety of samples. And Laurie is the kind of person who will make a phone call on the spot to find out if what you want is possible. She gave us several 2”x2” samples to take home and emailed us quotes for the different flooring and installations we were considering. After a few days we settled on a floor with 5” wide maple planks and the black border. We appreciated Laurie’s willingness to listen to what we wanted rather than try to sell us what she’d already done 1000 times. We realized why Laurie had the confidence to consider alternatives to the basic installation after Rafael and Abel showed up. These guys were the craftsmen we were beginning to think existed only on some other continent, the craftsmen who’d have to be flown over to the U.S. and put up in a motel while they worked on our mitered corners and our black border 5” from the wall. My wife and I are both retired engineers, so (1) we’re detail-oriented, and (2) we got a lot of time on our hands. I can be a pain in the butt, for sure, but Rafael and Abel never shied away from questions. And they asked them too. At one point I asked Rafael if there was a saying in Spanish equivalent to “The Devil is in the details.” Smiling, he assured me there was. Quite honestly, it got so that just seeing these guys in the morning was reassuring. They cleaned up everyday before leaving, made Herculean attempts to keep dust from escaping, and in general tried to reduce their impact on the normal house functioning as much as possible. We’re very happy with the new hardwood floor we got thanks to Royal Oak Flooring."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Homeowners in Long Beach should consider the impact of salt air, sand, and frequent sunlight on flooring materials, especially in beachside neighborhoods. Earthquake safety is also important—flexible installation methods and proper expansion gaps help prevent damage. If you live in a condo or historic area, check for HOA flooring rules or preservation guidelines. Soundproofing is often recommended for multi-story homes or apartments in busy parts of the city.

Helpful?

In Long Beach, flooring contractors often specialize by material, such as hardwood, tile, carpet, or concrete. Some focus on residential flooring projects, while others are experienced with commercial spaces or multi-unit buildings. You’ll also find contractors skilled in eco-friendly flooring or historic home renovations, which is valuable in neighborhoods with older properties. Always choose a flooring contractor with proven expertise in your specific flooring type and project needs.

Helpful?

In Long Beach, hidden costs during flooring projects often arise from subfloor repairs, moisture mitigation, or leveling uneven surfaces—especially in older homes. Flooring contractors may also discover the need for special adhesives or moisture barriers due to the coastal climate. Disposal of old flooring and remediation of issues like asbestos or lead paint in historic homes can add to expenses, so it’s wise to budget for these possibilities upfront.

Helpful?

Before starting a flooring project in Long Beach, review local building codes and any HOA requirements that may affect your plans. Consult with flooring contractors to get detailed written estimates and timelines. Order materials early to allow for proper acclimation to Long Beach’s climate. Prepare your home by clearing rooms and addressing subfloor issues. Coordinating with other trades can also help prevent scheduling conflicts and unexpected delays.

Helpful?

For Long Beach homes, flooring materials that resist moisture and humidity are ideal due to the coastal environment. Engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl plank, and porcelain tile are popular choices for their durability and easy maintenance. In high-traffic areas, consider polished concrete or natural stone. Flooring contractors in Long Beach can recommend materials that perform well in neighborhoods near the ocean or areas with frequent sun exposure.
