"Bill Worlock and his crew did a remarkable job on the install of a new AC at our home. Contracted with Worlock Air Conditioning on a Wednesday late afternoon and had a new AC installed before noon on Friday. Fast, reliable and very professionally done. Five stars without question."

"Amer's reputation lives up to his good name. Had a new AC recently installed by Oasis Air and let me tell you Amer, the AC tech, is the absolute best. He is very professional and knowledgeable. He explained our old AC was pretty much dying from a coolant (freon) leak. He gave us a quote on our new system (Ecor Unit) and this thing is amazing. Amer took the time to explain the benefits of the new system and make the right recommendation for our house. It has already cut my electric bill by $100. Also, the installation was not perfect, but Amer came out and made it right. Amer is a man of high integrity and truly cares about the customer, which is so darn rare in the AC business. I would highly, highly recommend Oasis Air to anyone."

"After a sleepless night (too hot) with little AC, I put in a request for AC service with Angi. Within seconds of completing my request, one hour Heating and Air Conditioning reached out. I scheduled service for a few hours later that same day. Cody came out and worked on the system for around two hours to resolve our issue. He stayed long enough to insure the system was working as it should. Upon completion I was expecting a fairly large bill for the service but was delighted to find I could sign up for regular service for a small fee. Everything is working great and we are happy and Cool!"

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s important to turn off your AC sometimes to give it a break and prevent it from freezing up. If your AC runs all the time, your system’s parts will wear down quicker, which may mean that you need to replace it sooner. Plus, using your AC constantly uses more electricity and leads to higher energy bills.

Unfreezing an AC unit is not a DIY project unless the problem is a dirty air filter. Changing out an air filter is easy for homeowners, but otherwise, trying to repair ductwork, refill refrigerant, or replace a blower fan motor are tasks best left to the pros. Otherwise, you could cause further damage to your cooling system or even harm to yourself.

It’s critical to use the right size AC for your space and not go too small or too big. If you purchase an undersized unit, it won’t properly cool your house, and it has to work harder to reach the optimal temperature. This will eventually wear your unit out. An oversized unit can spell trouble because it will turn off and on more frequently, which also wears out your AC unit. An oversized unit also causes humidity in the home.

You will enjoy greater energy efficiency and save on your annual energy bills, with new, modern HVAC systems using 30% to 50% less energy than older models. Upgrading your HVAC system is also a great way to embrace new technology, such as smart thermostats, lighting, fan speed, and humidity from your phone or tablet.

Signs that your air conditioner capacitor is bad or failing include a range of symptoms. The AC unit may not turn on at all, or it might struggle to start before shutting down randomly or in the middle of a cooling cycle. You might hear a humming or banging noise when it attempts to start, or the compressor might hum without the unit actually running. Other indicators include a smell or smoke coming from the unit, the blower circulating room-temperature air instead of cold air, and an unexpected increase in your energy bills.
