"Martin did a great job installing the mini split I had already bought. He was professional and efficient, ensuring everything was installed correctly. He also took the time to clean up the work area afterward, which I really appreciated. Overall, I'm very satisfied with his work and would recommend him for similar jobs."

"I conducted a lot of research prior to hiring Air Factor, and obtained bids from 6 different contractors. Air Factor was the ONLY company to calculate the size of my home to determine the appropriate size of the AC unit to properly cool my home. They were VERY thorough on the initial visit - spending 2 hours with me. Tim had a great presentation put together, including reviews from customers, insurance information, and BBB ratings/reviews (ZERO complaints by the way). The detailed information he provided built trust in the contractor. I would use them again in a heartbeat, and will definitely recommend them to my friends and family."

"Experience with Sun Devil was very good and I highly recommend them for AC service. I called and left voicemail. Owner, Gerardo called me right back to explain process. A separate rep, Joe, came down the next day to inspect. Both were very friendly and professional. The team was ready to install new AC unit within a week of my first call. Prices were very fair and team was very professional throughout."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

It is normal for the attic to be hotter than the rest of the house in the summer, but only by about 10 or 20 degrees. Attics that aren’t properly insulated or ventilated can reach temperatures of 130 degrees or more which can cause damage to the home’s structure, including the roof, wood framing, and HVAC system.

If you’re shopping around for a rooftop AC unit, you may hear them referred to as “package units.” That’s because rooftop AC systems are all-in-one heating and cooling units that connect directly to your home’s ductwork. If your AC repair pro references a package unit, they are referring to the system on your roof.

Yes, you can potentially save $60 to $200 by handling your own air conditioner capacitor installation. However, capacitor replacement comes with the risk of electric shock. Only attempt this if you have the knowledge and protective gear to carry it out safely. Otherwise, we recommend hiring an HVAC pro with the experience to properly diagnose the issue and avoid damaging other parts of your AC unit.

Indications of an HVAC problem include inconsistent heating or cooling throughout your home, unpredictable temperature changes, or inadequate air flow from vents. Abnormal sounds such as grinding, banging, or hissing, and unpleasant smells like mustiness or burning are also potential warning signs. A rise in energy costs without an increase in usage may also imply decreased efficiency. An HVAC system that frequently cycles on and off or cannot maintain a stable temperature is malfunctioning.

To diagnose a bad HVAC or AC damper, assess the airflow from your vents. For a manual damper, close it, run your system, and check for airflow. If air is still coming through the vents, the damper is likely faulty and needs repair or replacement. For an automatic damper, turn on your HVAC system and monitor the airflow and room temperature. Signs of a problem include low airflow, a room that won't maintain its set temperature, or a drafty feeling. If you suspect a faulty automatic damper, you may need to hire a professional for repairs.
