"We have been living with a 60amp service and Knob and Tube wiring for 37 years. We called Seatown Electric Plumbing Heating and Air,to upgrade our service to200 amps and to replace our Knob and Tube wiring. They promptly sent Matt R, Journeyman Electrician, out to give us an estimate. He was very professional and we walked through the house room by room as he explained what needed to be done to meet code, and asked us what new outlets or features we might want to add in each room. We went from attic to crawl space. Then he sat down with us and walked us through what might have to be done to complete the Job. At which point he ended by giving us a firm estimate of cost and what we would need to do to prepare the house. We made the decision to have them do the work and they put us on the schedule. On the scheduled date Thomas F, and Thomas L arrived along with Matt R. They walked us through the project and told us they had been allotted 5 days to complete the project; on our two story house. They stayed on schedule and actually didn't need a complete day on the fifth day. Thomas F and Thomas L worked tirelessly each day and cleaned up after themselves before leaving each day all this during high 80's temperatures during the day. They took time from their work to answer any and all of our questions as they worked, and at the end of the day showed us what they had completed. All of their work was done with meticulous care given to quality, and journeyman standards to meet and exceed code. I would recommend these two electricians for any electrical project and especially those that may be on the more complicated level. They did our entire house including the installation of a new mast and meter base along with the knew 200 amp breaker box. Thank you Thomas F and Thomas L! Complicating their work was our little granddaughter. She was with us during the whole project and they took extra care to assure her safety and well being. Thomas F even brought her a toy Dinosaur which immediately became her favorite toy. If that were not enough he found out it was my birthday and brought me gift of his personally crafted art work as a present. What a great company and Great People. In this case the aphorism “you get what you pay for” is true. Seatown is worth every dollar."

I will personally meet with you on any job to go over your options and give you an estimate. With Emerald State Electric, you can count on all of our work being up to code, and installed with quality. Looking to update your Old Wiring, Knob and Tube Removal or a Panel Upgrade? These are our specialties! Visit our website or send us a message for additional details on these and other projects. www.emeraldstateelectric.com

"Fantastic! He was the first one who called from your suggested list. He was able to get the job done the next day! Super friendly and explained everything thoroughly to where I could understand it. (Layman’s terms) He and his apprentice were very professional. He is the sole owner of his business. I’d rather use guys like him than the Big name brand folks who are on billboards and/or TV commercials. Hats off to Dennis and his Emerald State Electric company!!! I would use him again and will refer to friends and family."

"Project started great and everyone was very friendly. Toward the end of the project I found things that were damaged in my home and a number of items that Exo Electric failed to complete. As soon as I mentioned these items, their attitudes shifted instantly and then weren’t so friendly. I hired them to remove all of the dangerous knob and tube wiring, replace the panel inside, swap all switches & outlets and replace the box and mast outside. The knob and tube wiring is still in my house, they installed light switches crooked, did not swap every outlet like they said they would, left a major outlet in the kitchen dead-no power to that outlet still to this day, installed that outside box cooked and not flush to the house, the mast is touching my new roof done a few weeks ago and bending shingles, the box inside is not installed properly and does not latch shut. They said they were going to bring a label maker to make the box nice but instead wrote everything by hand and not clearly, quite sloppy actually. They attempted to charge me an exorbitant amount amount for additional work to remedy these issues and I said no. They went on to say that they were not coming back and that the job is marked as complete. This. Reach of contract on their part has caused multiple issues with other projects including the roof, siding and gutters. Customer service from this company was horrendous and they are anything but professional. The GM Cory Hessiltine was extremely unprofessional on our 1 call, using profanity and not allowing me to speak. He went on a rant and essentially “told me how it is”. This company is run by sleazy sleazy sales people, I was clearly just a number to this company and they do not care about helping their customers, their only concern is getting paid- not doing what is right. Don’t make the same mistake that I did in hiring these amateurs."

"Went pretty well the electricians were really hard workers they were at it all day non-stop. My only issue is that one of the replacement receptacles isn't attached to the wall anymore. I just found it when I unplugged something the receptacle pulls out from the wall about an inch when you unplug something. I can't see how to attach it either with what is installed now so not sure how to fix it."

Puget Sound's Home Service Heroes! Offering Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Duct & Sewer Services Hunt’s Services is a certified and licensed plumbing, heating, cooling, electrical, duct and sewer services company. We offer same day repairs and emergency services, with over 2,600 five-star reviews by our customers in Tacoma, Federal Way, Auburn, Puyallup, South Hill, Kent, Bellevue, Redmond, Seattle, Olympia and the nearby areas. We take pride in serving King, Pierce and parts of Kitsap and Thurston Counties for both residential and commercial needs with honesty, integrity, and dedicated service.

"had a deeply frustrating experience with Hunt’s HVAC Services that reflects a serious lack of professionalism and customer care. They contacted me early last week to schedule service for my HVAC system, and I agreed to their preferred date—the following Monday. I received a confirmation email on Sunday and a reminder Monday morning for the upcoming afternoon appointment. I drove 1.5 hours to the service site, only to be met with confusion and poor communication. When I called at 12:30 to ask for a specific arrival time, I was told the technician would contact me 30 minutes before arriving—but they couldn’t give me a time estimate. I waited another 2.5 hours before receiving a call informing me that no technician would be coming at all. My only options were to reschedule or cancel. I asked to speak with a manager and was placed on long hold. Eventually, I was told the manager was “too busy” to speak with me and would call me later. That call never came. This experience was a complete waste of time and resources, and the lack of accountability was appalling. Hunt’s HVAC Services failed to honor their commitment, communicate effectively, or show basic courtesy. I strongly advise others to stay away from this business."

"He, being Alex was able to show up at 11:30 and was able to look at it, and was also able to see if he can get it to work, and did, also finding out that it's undersized but got it running. I now have hot water, but the tank will need replacing, and a rewire, but I'm hoping I can hold off until next summer and look into financing/saving up for that job. He also noted the breaker for the heater is miss labeled as baseboard heat. The breaker labeled tank heater is for likely one of the baseboards. Anyway, it's up and running despite having a seeping leak when the cold water is turned on at the tank, and the pressure relief valve is closed, it'll seep and it got a new relief valve yesterday and will see if that solves it after it being installed for overnight."

Specializing on bringing homes into the 21st century with almost a decade of experience in the industry. We offer services for a whole spectrum of power and lighting needs. Whether that be smart homes, ADU’s, workshops, panel upgrades, can lights, electric hot water heaters, ovens or if you’re trying to get rid of that pre - 60’s knob and tube wiring and everything in between we’ve got you covered. Our motto is to always leave a customers property better than we found it, while working with you to help your vision come to fruition.

"Originally Tanner was 5 STARS until he took $4,500 and didn't finish the job. I had to pay another electrician $3,000 to fix Tanners work and finish putting electricity. Tanner bid and quoted my electrical job for $6k. As with reputable professionals, he asked for 50% when he started the job, which was $3k. He asked for more money along the way which I wasn't comfortable with but gave it to him. After paying 4,500, I had no heat, no hot water, no lights, basically nothing but one outlet that he charged me an extra $300. He failed to put outlets in places that are normal for a house, he didn't provide a switch to turn on/off the hallway lights, and more. He texted me on the day he was to finish the job and has ghosted me since. DO NOT HIRE Tanner as he's not skilled and not trustworthy. Sad thing is that a close friend recommended him and Tanner took advantage of me, a single retired lady just trying to remodel a house. See you in small claims court. I will also file with the appropriate licensing agency so that others don't lose their money."

When choosing the right size generator for your needs, consider a few items to help calculate the wattage you’ll need. Start by determining which household items and appliances you want to power, and then add the wattages together. Check out the wattage of these essential appliances:

  • Refrigerator: 600 watts

  • Large dehumidifier: 700 watts

  • Large window air conditioner: 1,400 watts

  • Water heater: 3,000 watts

Running home appliances like these requires a partial or whole-house generator. A portable generator may be enough to power your home if you only plan to keep a refrigerator and freezer running.

In most municipalities, you will need a permit to install a permanent home generator, including emergency backup, partial-home, and whole-home generators. A permit for a generator usually costs between $50 and $250, depending on where you live. Your electrician or certified generator installer will usually pull the permit for you—and might be required to do so by your building department—but you’ll be on the hook for the cost of the permit. You should ask your installer before agreeing to any work if they will pull the necessary permits for your project.

It might seem counterintuitive, but installing a generator transfer switch will save you money in the long run. While you’ll have to pay between $400 and $2,500 to have the transfer switch installed, you’ll recoup that amount later on when you don’t have to pay for expensive repairs to your appliances, devices, and electrical system that may have burned out, overloaded, or stopped working due to a sudden loss of power or an incorrect hook up of a generator to your home

Natural gas and electricity rates vary significantly based on location, and pricing can change over time, too. It’s possible that in locations where natural gas is particularly inexpensive, it will cost less than grid-based electricity will. However, you should also factor in the generator’s initial costs and maintenance needs, as well as its noise level and if it can comfortably power all your home appliances.

When maintained properly, a whole-house generator can last up to 20 years. Costs to maintain and repair generators vary by location and type of generator, but you can expect to pay about $150 to $300 per year for annual generator maintenance checks. An experienced generator service technician will inspect your generator’s engine filter, starting mechanism, fuel, lubrication, and coolant levels to keep your generator in good working condition for as long as possible.
