"Dedicated electrical services was very professional, from the first phone call to get an estimate to completing the job. I needed six can lights changed from 'Peg' light bulbs to LEDs. The electricians that came to my home listened to what I had to say about the issue with the peg lights and provided options for a solution. During the installation of new light fixtures, that have a brightness setting, they checked after installing the first one to see if the light setting was okay before moving on with the rest. For the first time in a few years I finally have decent lighting in my kitchen. I no longer feel like I live in a cave. I will definitely be having Dedicated Electric Services come back and change out the remaining 'peg' lights in my home."

"Skipper & Sons installed a entryway chandelier in high ceiling 18' tall. They installed a new light and switch in an unfinished closet, and 3 new canned lights and new switch in my master bedroom. They also fixed the wiring in an existing switch in the downstairs hallway. They did professional electrical work."

"The ADS crew is a family and they work together impressively. Maybe I should describe them as highly skilled residential electrical contractors that work with focus, knowledge, skill, talent, speed and are just good folks to talk to. I’ve done work for others and I know the dreaded question “You mind having a look at . . .?” Seriously, the response was “sounds interesting, let’s have a look.” I’m planning a major update to the mid century modern I recently purchased and I can only hope I can get ADS Electric LLC. For the electrical. I’ll wait for them if I have to. If you’re reading this and you have an opportunity to have Alex & Company do your work, sign them up!"

"Nick went above and beyond to install my home car charger. He had to get through concrete in my crawlspace and installed the charger on the wall which I did not expect him to complete. The price was reasonable when compared to two other estimates. I would highly recommend First Choice."

"Andrathon Electric installed a whole home surge protector and installed a new standby generator. Andrey provided a quote and timetable and achieved both. Mark & Kevin preformed the work and were rockstars. Courteous, professional work, on time, and on budget! I will definitely recommend them to family and friends."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

Generators are usually sized by running watts and starting watts. Ideally, you’ll want a generator that can offer both the necessary running watts and starting watts for everything you need to power without going beyond 90% of its capacity. Calculate your home’s electrical load based on the breakers in your home or adding up the appliance and lighting needs of connected rooms.

While the rating will tell you how many watts the refrigerator needs at the peak of its cycle, it requires additional wattage to start. At the bare minimum, you’ll need a 1,500-watt generator to get the fridge up and running after a blackout. A 2,000-watt generator should be sufficient for most home refrigerators.

To power a central air system during a power outage, the whole-house generator will need to be at least 5,000 watts, and this number will significantly increase for larger units. Check the specific wattage requirements of your AC unit to choose the right generator size. Consider consulting a generator installer to ensure your whole-house generator meets your electrical load needs.

Whole-house generators need to be installed on level ground several feet away from walls and other objects. Because they tap into the electrical system directly, they usually need to be close to your home electrical panel for a transfer switch installation. It also helps with installation if they are near to a gas line or propane tank installation.

Whole-house generators can run continuously for extended periods, even for weeks at a time (around 400 to 500 hours), as long as they have a sufficient fuel supply. However, this type of extensive use will increase wear and tear and can shorten the generator's overall lifespan. During long periods of operation, it's important to check and refill the engine oil as needed, potentially as frequently as daily depending on the model. If your generator uses a fuel tank, ensure it is kept full to prevent unexpected shutdowns.
