"I worked directly with the owner, Steve Lambert. Steve is a Board-Certified Master Arborist and he knew the names of all 10 trees and made recommendations regarding the right amount of pruning and shaping that would work best for me as well as for the trees. He arrived promptly, I am very happy with his work, and the clean-up afterwards was so thorough I wouldn't have known he had come by except I immediately saw that I had my view back! His pricing was very fair for the amount of work. I will certainly hire Steve again."

"I got quotes from three different arborists, and I felt the most confident with Mark's quote. His team showed up a little early (which is totally ok), and they were FAST. Courteous crew, and did a super job with cleanup. The results met (and perhaps even exceeded) our expectations. Because of their great work, we won't need any tree work for several years, but I know I will call them again when we are ready."

"These guys are fantastic. We met with several arborists, and Brenda & Jose impressed us from the moment we met them. One tree was a problematic situation because it was our neighbor's tree that we needed to have the branches removed from our property, and our neighbor was not cooperating. Originally we planned to have the tree cut with a hedge trimer right up the property line. Jose cared enough and hand-cut each branch individually. This tree is at least 75' tall. The other two trees we in our back yard and again, the team at Altaview performed to perfection."

"Mike was the only tree service I called that actually picked up the phone on the first call. They came out that same evening to look at the job. Kristy texted the bid that night. We got 2 more bids, but White River was the best price. We originally planned to do the job over two evenings, but they couldn't make the first date and were great about communicating their scheduling. They showed up for the 2nd appointment with extra workers and got everything done, including clean-up, in 2 hours. They even checked in with us a couple times to make sure they didn't over-trim any trees. Everyone was friendly and professional. We would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone needing tree service."

Small jobs welcome

"Neil was fantastic. He worked around our established plants to not disturb them. We had cherry Laurel tree stumps in, up on a hill. He swiftly removed them and cleaned up after. We would definitely hire him again!"

"I had American Tree Care out in 2012 and they did a great job, so I contacted Ammon last fall about coming out again and doing more cleanup in my yard. I had a dead alder tree that looked like it was about to fall over (but woodpeckers loved!) removed entirely and the stump ground. I had some really out-of-control trees on both side yards removed and stumps ground as well. And some other trees in my back yard, I had him remove what branches he felt needed to be removed in order to clean up the appearance and make them safer, and remove several branches that were hanging over neighbor's property removed so they didn't break off and drop on his plants or yard. My yard looks great and wide open now in areas where there was a lot of branches overhanging from neighbor's yards. (He pruned those back). I also had some wood in back that broke off in a windstorm that his crew cut into smaller pieces for me. They used a chipper to chop up all the branches, etc and left the pile in a place where I could spread them out to cover dirt to prevent weeds and moss. They did a great job cleaning up all the debris from the work they did. Very happy with the work the crew did today and I highly recommend them! Thanks Ammon!"

"We hired Chandler's to trim severely neglected and overgrown arborvitae, rhododendrons, bamboo and to skirt limbs on a fir tree. Brian Chandler is very experienced and knowledgeable and has been in this business since the 80's yet his bid was competitive. I highly recommend his services! He also taught us how to maintain our trees going forward which we appreciated as new homeowners. The crew he sent was friendly and efficient. They checked with us about each step and left our yard looking gorgeous! I will definitely use this company again without hesitation and am glad to have Brian as a member of our community!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Common signs that a tree is rotting include dead branches, a leaning trunk, peeling or cracked bark, leaf discoloration, and the presence of fungi. If you notice any of these signs, it’s best to hire an arborist near you to inspect your tree and determine if it can be saved or if it needs to come down.

The best pro to hire for spraying trees is a tree maintenance specialist. These pros are well-versed in selecting the right spray treatment and applying it properly to ensure there’s no collateral damage to the tree or surrounding landscape. Many tree maintenance services employ certified arborists, but for these routine visits, the extra investment usually isn’t necessary.

Trimming a tree can take anywhere from just two hours to a full day, depending on the age of the tree, the number of trees, and the species. Young trees are generally easier to trim, as their branches are often thinner in diameter and easier to reach compared to mature trees. They also tend to be healthier. If you haven’t trimmed your trees before or it’s been a while, the process could take even longer.

Most plum trees are pruned into a vase or open wine glass shape. They’ll have a shorter central leader (the trunk) that supports three to four main branches. Of course, this isn't always the case. If you have a European plum tree, you can grow it in a pyramid shape. Let the central leader extend the length of the tree and prune smaller branches to create the pyramid.

While trees can grow in the curb strip between the sidewalk and the street, this placement often poses the problem of interfering with overhead power lines. It’s best to consult your local utility provider and tree planting service before transplanting a tree that might grow into power lines. Also, you should never work within 20 feet of a live power line to avoid the risk of electric shock. Tree branches should never touch nearby power lines, so it’s essential to ensure your tree isn’t in danger of growing too close to them.
