Contact was generally prompt and involved detailed quotes. We were able to go out to their farm and pick out the particular trees we wanted, and they also brought in some new ones from another supplier for us as their selection of hinoki's was getting low. For planting, there was a rough start since the upper branches of the existing trees were tangled up in utility lines, which they weren't prepared for (despite the job description, I guess they had missed the lines running through the trees in the photos I sent, which may be understandable); they didn't have equipment/certification to trim upper branches enough to untangle them, and had to call in a separate arborist (a few days later) to trim them down to stumps. Then they removed the stumps and planted the hinoki's over a long day. It was a difficult job because there was a gas line marked just a few feet away, but fortunately there was no sign of it during the work. They also repaired the irrigation lines that (pretty much unavoidably) got damaged in pulling out the stumps. Overall we're very pleased the end result, and we feel they really went the extra mile to rectify the initial problems. After few days of rain and high winds we had an uprooted cottonwood tree in our back yard, very close to the house.
I called a few tree companies to get bids for this job. NW Residential Arborist called me back the same day, they also came on that day to give me an estimate for the job. The bid was reasonable, and they were ready to start the next day. They did a GREAT!!!! job. Came on time, removed the trees, pus some additional cottonwoods that could potentially cause danger. Did amazing job cleaning up!
This company also grinds stumps, and after the removal was done I asked them to give me a bid on stump removal. Again the price was right!
Few days later Dave came back and grinded all the stumps, plus as a bonus he removed all of our old existing stumps!!!!!
I highly recommend NW Residential Arborist and Excavating! Thank you guys!

Since we both love trees, it has been a pleasure to work with him to select more trees for the yard, always striving for the right tree in the right place. Last year he also assumed regular maintenance for the yard, which first required an aggressive effort to control horsetail and Canadian thistle and now involves supervision of irrigation. He has made solid recommendations for improvements, most recently by improving the drainage underneath the gravel paths to cut down on weeding requirements. I can truly say that, since I turned over the maintenance responsibility of the yard and garden to Robert, I am at last able to truly enjoy it (before, when I walked through or sat in it, I was always seeing work that I needed to do, now I can just bask in its beauty). And I have received many compliments on the garden from visitors. Robert has high standards and demands a high level of professionalism from those he works with, and the results show it. Made appt for arborist to come out on a Friday to bid for a tree removal--was a 'no show' and did't even bother to call me to explain so I called on the following Monday and left a message. Someone from the firm texted me saying that someone would be out between 3:30 and 4 that afternoon....

"The work they did is top notch, I love our patio and couldn't be happier with what they've done with the space. They did a lot of work for us over two months to build a patio and beautiful back yard. We love it. That said, our home is a 70+ year old house in Magnolia with concrete pipes. A year or so after they did the work we had a backup. After the plumbers came out they found that a section of the piping had been crushed by a large rock that had been set while they were regrading the area. The repairs were ~15k all said and done then. I contacted Ryan and he looked into their insurance covering it and they weren't going to do it out of pocket. I value my time more than money and I let it go, and Ryan had some guys come out and fix the area that had to be torn up for free, least they can do. Well after they were done the plumbers spotted another crushed section that lined up and should be 'okay'. Fast forward a year, it wasn't we had another backup. They cleared it and we just had it fixed with another 5k bill. Ryan had said they wouldn't do it for free but 'hours and material'. They didn't give me a quote I shrugged and assumed it would be a mornings worth of work. They came out and spent two days, and they just handed me a bill for another $3200, to clean up after damage they caused and I'm paying for."

FAQs for arboricultural service projects in Fall City, WA
Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
On average, removing a tree costs around $750, but you can expect to pay between $200 to $2,000. Factors that impact the overall cost include the number of trees you’re having removed, their height, the diameter of their trunks, permits needed, and the tree’s accessibility. You’ll pay more if the tree is in a hard-to-reach area or dangerous location, like close to power lines.
Landscaping costs around $3,500 but varies widely from $200 to $14,000. Factors that play a part in your final landscaping price tag include:
Location
Yard size
Project size
Materials
Land preparation
Type of landscaping
Considering so many factors, it’s not surprising that the overall costs can differ. A typical landscaping project is flower bed installation, which averages between $800 and $3,000. However, landscape lighting installation is a higher-end project, with a price tag of $2,000 to $6,000.
Yes, you will want to confirm that the tree removal company you hire is insured before proceeding with the job. Tree removal can be dangerous work, and it's important to verify that the company carries the proper insurance to cover any onsite accidents or damage.
