"We recently had our flagstone patio renewed by Moore Design and could not be happier with the results. The crew was professional and hardworking throughout the project. Working with John was especially easy — he was responsive, straightforward, and made the whole process smooth from start to finish. The patio looks fantastic and the quality of the work really shows. Highly recommend Moore Design! Would definitely hire them again."

"I’m so glad we hired Moore Designs and Outdoor Living for our deck. We decided to wait for now on doing a patio/fire pit, out of safety concerns with our little ones, but we’ll have them finish that part of the job in a few years. The whole job from start to finish was smooth. We’re thrilled with the final product! These guys work quickly and communicate well."

"Rick’s team tore down our small (~20yr old) deck and patio and replaced them with something bigger and more durable. Here’s my honest take: Cost: Rick’s estimate was very reasonable (not cheap because you get what you pay for but lower than most). Rick provided us with options along the way but never pushed and there were times when he told us where we could save money. Schedule: Once the guys got rolling, things were done in a matter of weeks. Rick gave us an estimated completion date and his team nailed it! Quality: The amount of skill and effort that went into making sure that EVERYTHING was done perfectly is unmatched. Customer service: Rick is as straightforward as they come, nice guy and not overly complicated. He was often on-site to check progress/ workmanship and update us on next steps. He wasn’t put off by our attention to detail and he continually made sure that we were happy with everything. We trust Rick and his team and plan on working with them again!"

"We built a brand new deck on the back of our house, replacing the original deck. Deck Builders did a great job from the minute I called them to when they completed the work. Randy was very collaborative and responsive as we refined our requirements and specifications. Once we committed, Deck Builders helped us with the County permits and our HOA submission. The two person crew, Baldemar and Miguel, were phenomenal. They worked incredibly hard in very hot conditions and always answered our questions and inquiries as they were doing their work. They were always very positive and seemed to care a lot about the quality of their work (which was excellent) Ricardo came by several times and ensured everything was done to specification and even made some recommendations on lighting, which the crew installed. I would strongly recommend Deck Builders to anyone."

Gazebos questions, answered by experts

Several types of porches are available to meet your needs and style preferences. Some common porch types include:

  • Porticos are essentially a roof over a walkway leading to the home's front entrance.

  • Sunrooms are closed-in porches that are an extension of the house with glass or plastic panels that allow optimal sunlight.

  • Wraparound porches extend around the entire home, or at least the front and one side, and offer multiple entrances to the house.

  • Back porches are an extension of the home’s floor into the outdoors. These offer more protection and privacy than a deck.

On average, building or installing a gazebo costs around $5,700, with a typical range between $3,000 and $10,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the gazebo's size, shape, material, and design complexity. Material choice is a significant cost driver; for example, brick is often more affordable, while metal can be one of the more expensive options. Square-shaped gazebos can also be more expensive to build. Custom features, such as built-in seating or lighting, will increase the total price. You may be able to save money by purchasing a prefabricated gazebo kit or performing some of the labor yourself.

Porticos last 25 to 60 years, depending on the material used. A portico’s roof typically matches the roof of the rest of the home and can be replaced simultaneously. Portico columns have a similar life span if properly maintained and regularly sealed. In some areas, harsh weather and extreme temperatures may cause a portico to wear more quickly.

Common materials include wood, vinyl, and metal. Wood offers a classic look, while vinyl and metal are low-maintenance options.

Clean regularly, seal wood surfaces, and inspect for damage or rust to ensure longevity and safety.
