"Patriot Flooring did a great job installing the tile. We are really pleased with the tile and how they treated our home while doing the job. They arrived when they said they would, did the work in the time they said they would and cleaned up nicely after they were done. We had attempted to get the work done by two other contractors who agreed to do it, then never showed up. Patriot's promptness and quality of work really impressed us. We would definitely hire them again if we need other work done."

"Ben was a pleasure to work with.

Even though this was not a big project, he was always prompt
and responsive.  He answered all our questions, was very fair
with pricing...the tile was somewhat labor intensive...and he
always left our house clean.

Very professional and a gentlemen.

Spectacular!

"They came out. They could not clean my tile because they could not remove the sealant.  I did not understand why because my husband and I did it before. It was very labor extensive. They really tried and I watched them. They were really disappointed that they could not remove the sealant. They did offer to return in a couple of days with a different product but it would be an additional charge. The man said he would provide a quote within twenty four hours. Three weeks later, I had to follow up. I did not use this company for the work. I had my deal reimbursed."

"We are totally happy with our experience with the Brick Doctor. Our 60 year old house had front and back steps that had lost quite a bit of mortar. The front porch, made of broken tile with a brick border , needed the entire border of mortar replaced, and some cracks repaired. Kenny is a true craftsman and a hard worker. He was easy to deal with and we worked together to schedule the repairs. He is a skilled professional, and it was obvious that he takes pride in his work and gives attention to detail. Throughout the process he consulted with us to mke sure we understood what he was going to do. All of the repairs were made, including replacing some broken bricks. The front and back areas were power washed and the results were amazing. Kenny was very careful to clean up before he left . I would definitely recommend the Brick Doctor.

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

When choosing between porcelain and ceramic tile, the best option depends on your specific needs, budget, and project application. Porcelain tile is generally more durable, denser, and harder than ceramic, making it a good choice for busy, high-traffic areas. It also offers superior moisture resistance, making it ideal for moisture-retaining spaces. However, porcelain is typically more expensive, and its hardness can make it brittle, potentially causing it to crack if a heavy object is dropped on it. In contrast, ceramic tile is a more budget-friendly option with lower material and installation costs. It is softer and easier to work with, making it a great choice for DIY projects. While not as durable as porcelain, ceramic is still a quality material suitable for many home applications, particularly small, decorative projects.

You can attach tiles to a wall using thin-set mortar. You’ll also need a notched trowel to create grooves within the adhesive so it flattens completely when pressed in and securely holds the wall tiles. Finally, you’ll need grout to smooth the gaps between the tiles and, ideally, a grout sealer to prevent mold. While it sounds simple enough, proper planning and execution are crucial, so carefully review the steps in this guide or hire a pro tile installer to complete this project.

Porcelain is a relatively affordable, mid-range countertop material. It typically costs between $50 to $70 per square foot.

Compared to quartz, porcelain is slightly more affordable, as quartz generally ranges from $50 to $200 per square foot. However, lower-quality, builder's grade quartz can be similar in price to porcelain.

Compared to granite, the price can be similar, depending on the quality of the stone. While granite slabs can range from $50 to $200 per square foot, you can find lower-end granite in the same price range as porcelain. High-end granites will cost significantly more.

Porcelain is generally more expensive than laminate, acrylic, and ceramic, but less expensive than high-end slate, concrete, and marble. A key benefit is that porcelain does not require sealing, which reduces long-term maintenance costs.

Grouting hearth tiles is one of the most important steps. It seals the tiles so heat doesn’t transfer under the tiles so easily, which can be dangerous. For this reason, heat-resistant grout is a must. Grout also prevents dust, dirt, and any other material from gathering between your tiles. If this happens and those buildups are flammable, a fire could start between the tiles.
