"Turns out it was a clog in my drain for the AC. I was totally prepared to drop over $1000 for the repair no questions asked and these guys were honest and helpful! Two qualities that are hard to come by. Maybe they only got 95 bucks from me this time, but they earned a customer! Great Job."

"RR arrived in the afternoon and poked around with the equipment they had but could only go a limited distance. They were unable to complete the task day one after 3-4 hours on site. They explained that they needed different equipment due to the distance of the line.
They returned day 2 towing a large "snakeing" unit plus the equipment with video capability that they did not have on day one. I was informed of a fee of somewhere around $1000 to bring out the big equipment which they were able to use to resolve the problem. They wasted several hours on day 2 since they could not figure out where a corregated pipe ended after putting their snake more that 200 feet into it. That seemed odd since they were only 100 feet from the house. I asked if they had dug into the ground t5o see which direction the pipe went, they had not.
I got a shovel and dug 3 shovels of ground away from the collection box noting the line was not a drain line at all, but rather a line that made a u-turn back to the house to drain the downspouts.
I was pleased to note that they did not charge me for all the wasted time, but also noted that if they had had the appropriate equipment with them the job could have been done in an hour or so, not 2 days. I think the cost was high for the result.

"My garage was settling. The quote for installing 5 foundation Push piers under my garage and a French Drain along the side of my garage was very reasonable. The team that came out, led by Ryan Ohman was professional. courteous and hard-working. They did a great job and followed up quickly on a few comments I had. Cleaned up the site nicely afterward. Would definitely recommend."

"Outstanding. They dug to the bottom of the foundation and patched the entire length of the crack, inside and outside. The outside patch was heavy black epoxy with a very heavy rubber patch 3 feet by 8 feet. They did some drain work at the base of the foundation. The pit was about 6 feet deep. The yard looked better after they had finished than before they started. They returned the inside basement wall insulation to original state along with an inside patch. Work crew of 3. I had three companies come to inspect and give me an estimate. LUX was the best price. One company suggested an inside patch only which would not last the life of the building. Very professional and hard working. After cleanup it appeared as if no one had done major work on my house. They were the best contractor and lowest price."

"I had a great experience with ARS/Manassas thanks to John Curry, their knowledgeable and professional plumber. John provided an in-depth home inspection of my plumbing and educated me on the importance of venting my sinks to avoid moisture buildup, mold, corrosion, and bad odors. He also found that one of my toilets needed a new flapper valve/lift rod and corrected me on how I was using my garbage disposal, advising me to only use it for light particles stuck to my plate. To assist with the upkeep of my plumbing, John recommended that I buy a drain cleaning kit and even called his dispatch to schedule another member of his team to repair my toilet's lift rod. John Curry's expertise and helpfulness were much appreciated during the home inspection. He was professional, knowledgeable, and thorough in his work, and he took the time to educate me and provide valuable advice. Thank you, John Curry and ARS/Manassas!"

French Drains questions, answered by experts

A clogged air gap can cause a dishwasher not to drain. There are, however, other potential issues that can lead to improper drainage. For example, if you have attached the air gap to a garbage disposal and forgotten to remove the knockout plug, wastewater may backflow into the dishwasher. Check that the air gap is installed properly, and then look for clogs in the air gap and dishwasher filters.

The cost to clean a sewer line is about $370, ranging from about $190 to $550 on average. The specific cleaning method and the problem's severity will impact the project's overall cost. Some of the most common sewer line cleaning methods include:

  • Snaking or rodding: $100–$250

  • Hydrojetting: $350–$600

  • Chemical treatments: $600–$1,000

  • Repair or replacement: $1,000–$7,500

The P-trap (or S-trap in older homes) under your shower is designed to prevent sewer gas from coming back up, so you shouldn’t normally experience foul odors coming from your shower drain. If you do, the vent stack that introduces air into your plumbing system may be clogged, or you may have a more severe sewer main blockage. In either case, hire a plumber to fix the issue for you.

To clean gunk out of a sink drain, pour in a half cup of baking soda, then 1 cup of white vinegar. The two will react chemically; let them fizz for 15 minutes, then rinse with boiling water. Repeat these steps if necessary for particularly dirty sink drains, and consider a drain snake if there are clogs.

Simple blockages can be cleared using household plungers or manual snakes, provided no severe plumbing issues exist.
