"All of the plumbers and other specialists who replaced my sewer pipe and installed a sump pump in my flooded crawl space were professional, respectful, hard working, and just really nice folks."

"Very Professional, from the Salesman to the Office personnel. I was told there would be a foreman on the site to oversee work to be completed, there was none. When the install tech cut into my supply line, vice running a separate drain line as I was instructed would happen, instead of a supervisor or other responsible person, a second tech was sent to assist with the install. NOONE from the company reached out to me in reference to the mistake that was made and no compensations were offered. When I reached out to my sales rep, I was instructed the production team is handling it. That was it. The install tech resolved the issue (that he created) and was very apologetic and cleaned up everything before leaving for the day and made sure everything was back to normal and working. The first dehumidifier that was installed did not work. I had to wait another day for a second, new, dehumidifier to be installed. In the end, a one day install took 3 days (five if you include Sat and Sun) but everything is installed and working correctly, it appears. With the mistakes that were made, The company has a very good reputation and I would not judge just on one job, but things do happen. Everyone is very polite and professional and will answer questions if you ask. No one wants to deal with mistakes obviously. I would recommend, however. This company did the previous install on my house (prior to my purchase of it) and it is a very good quality install."

"Our experience with JES was unmatched! Everyone we interacted with was kind, patient, and professional. We like to understand the why and how of the work being done, and they walked us through the process each step of the way. From our initial phone call and quoting with Christian, to the amazing work of Larry, James, and Devaun we knew we were in good hands! We had an initial estimate for crawlspace encapsulation last year but werenâ t ready to move forward due to other home projects. We had quotes from other companies, but based on neighbor recommendations and our interactions with Christian, we knew JES was the right company for us to use. When we called back a year later Christian remembered us and details of our home and was able to quickly get us a new estimate and scheduled for service! Larry was our main point of contact throughout the project and was phenomenal. He gave us 30 min heads up for arrival each day, walked me through the plan of work each day, and was so considerate of my need to work from home. He answered all our many questions, and came to us to keep us updated and informed on progress. He is incredibly respectful and inspires confidence in the work he and his crew do! James went above and beyond in our crawlspace encapsulation! He has great attention to detail, in making sure our vents were correctly sealed, and patiently answered our questions about how the encapsulation worked. Devaun also helped install our sump pump and did an awesome job! I was impressed by how quick that process was- I came down at one point and the pump was already installed, without a trace of dirt or debris behind in the basement! Completely satisfied! Will be enthusiastically recommending JES, and our crew specifically, to all of our fellow homeowners!"

"I would recommend this business to everyone. We were in a bind and Cameron called me back on the weekend and let me bring him my pump late night to him. He fixed it on the spot and was happy to help. Customer service is hard to find these days, but Cam showed it still exists. Good guy and knows what he's doing. I'll be getting him to do my dock well now. Thank you again Cam!"

"Everyone was professional, prompt and couteous. However, the inspector didn't have a ladder when he arrived. Apparentlyl I was suposed to tell them they needed to bring a ladder. He offered to come back with a ladder, but upon further questioning, it turns out that unless your attic is finished or has walking boards installed, they can't go up there at all. They just shine the light around and look for signs."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

First, you can try unplugging the two sump pump cords, one for the motor and one for the float switch, then plugging them back in to reset the sump pump. You can also reset the sump pump by turning it off and back on at the breaker. Many sump pumps have a reset button, which you can press and hold for a few seconds to reset the device.

Common problems include motor failure, clogged discharge lines, and float switch malfunctions. Regular maintenance prevents many issues.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.

There are several things you can do to maintain your sump pump and prevent sump pump problems. For instance, keeping a lid on your sump pit goes a long way in protecting your pump system from silt, sand, dirt, and other debris. When water drains from the outside, such as along your foundation, or with melting snow, water runoff often brings sediment with it.

Also be wary of corrosion, particularly if your sump pump system is made of metal. Keep an eye out for rust and have it inspected regularly by a plumber or sump pump technician.

The difference between an ejector pump and a sump pump lies in their purpose and design—an ejector pump functions to remove liquid gray water and soft solid sewage waste from your home. If you have a laundry room or bathroom in your basement, an ejector pump for your sewage tank prevents sewage from backing up in your washing machine or bathroom’s drains.

A sump pump is designed to remove excess groundwater that may enter your home, either due to flooding or periods of heavy rain.
