Customers say: True professional

"Crawl Masters provided a quality blown in fiberglass attic insulation, raising it over the 39 R value. I recently purchased the 30 year old 2000 sf ranch home, and it had minimal attic insulation, barely covering any of the ceiling joists. Owner Dave was honest, punctual and professional. Dave was very knowledgeable about what needed to be done. Dave provided photos afterward of the installation. The price was reasonable. I was planning on doing it myself but left it in Crawl Masters hands. I am glad I did and would definitely recommend them to family and friends. The temperature in the home now stays constant without the HVAC continually kicking on and off."

"This is a copy of my email sent to them 3 weeks ago and I haven't heard back from them ? I wanted to share my feedback from my experience with The Drying Company. 1/ KNOWING YOUR PRODUCT The salesman assured me that they would be able to spray foam on existing insulation (Ceiling + Wall) because they have the best foam. When I asked him a second time, after another company told me that it would not work, he reassured me that it will work. So I signed with them. And when your technicians came on site, it did not work. BUMMER 2/ RECHARGING A LIFT => BEING EFFICIENT I provided a scissor lift for the technicians. And after working the whole day, they did not plug the lift in to recharge overnight. So when they arrived around 8 o'clock on Friday they could not work. 3/ CLEANING => DOING A NEAT JOB After the work was completed: The trash can was left full inside the warehouse. (See picture attached). The plastic protection was rolled up and dropped outside the warehouse alongside the dumpster (See picture attached). I have drops of spray foam on the drywall which was painted the week before they started the work & a BIG CHUNK above the restroom. (See picture attached). I am sorry but this is not acceptable. For a $35,000 job, I expected more professionalism. Even from the first day, when we had to unload your products from the truck, things were not as expected. I will not be recommending The Drying Company."
Unsealed porous foundation walls. Efflorescence has grown along the outside walls.
Plastic is laid out to protect the freshly pained walls and floor.
Open vents in the foundation walls allow outside air and moisture to infiltrate the crawl space, increasing the relative humidity and allowing mold spores to thrive inside.
Spray foam application in progress on warehouse walls.
The dirt floor is exposed, which will allow the moisture from the earth to rise uncontested into the crawl space, adding to the increase in relative humidity.

"I am so impressed with Sweetland's Heating and Cooling! They have done a lot of work here, and I highly recommend them. The owner Judy is wonderful to work with. She is knowledgeable, professional, and the customer service is top notch. Any time I have had an issue, it was addressed very quickly, Judy even came to fix a minor issue on a Saturday as soon as I called her. We have a yearly maintenance agreement with them, and the service technicians are wonderful too! Very respectful and professional, and they explain any issues that they find thoroughly. Carol is great, she makes scheduling the yearly maintenance visits a breeze! We got 3 other estimates in addition to Sweetland's when we needed to have our system and ductwork replaced, and we are grateful to have Sweetland's Heating and Cooling on our home maintenance team!"

"Inspector came over to assess if my attic needed insulation and confirmed that it did. Offered a reasonable price to blow in 6 inches of insulation and the job was done was done pretty easy and simple. Personnel who actually came over to do the job did an excellent job as well and were great guys."

"This service was completed by American Building Systems. The truck to blow in the insulation arrived really late. I was promised an 8:00 am insulation. The prep crew was there and finished prepping around 10:30 am. The truck came around 2:00 pm. I wasn't to happy. After all said in done, I was pleased with the end results."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Chesapeake homes often benefit from insulation upgrades if you notice large temperature swings between rooms, persistent drafts, or frequent HVAC cycling. Homes built before 1980 in Chesapeake typically lack modern insulation, especially in attics and crawl spaces. If you see signs of moisture, condensation, or uneven heating, your home likely needs improved insulation to boost comfort and energy efficiency year-round.

Helpful?

Chesapeake’s humid, coastal climate means you should prioritize moisture-resistant insulation materials and ensure proper crawl space encapsulation. Homes here often have brick or vinyl exteriors, so select insulation that complements these features. Take advantage of available energy efficiency rebates and schedule regular inspections to maintain performance. Always confirm that your chosen insulation contractor understands Chesapeake’s unique weather patterns and building styles for long-term results.

Helpful?

Before starting an insulation project in Chesapeake, clear access to attics and crawl spaces and photograph current conditions for reference. Ask your insulation contractor about potential moisture or ventilation issues unique to Chesapeake’s climate. Review your HOA guidelines and confirm the project timeline, especially during peak seasons. Request a detailed contract outlining materials, R-values, and project scope to ensure clear expectations and avoid project delays.

Helpful?

When reviewing quotes in Chesapeake, be wary of insulation contractors who skip a thorough home inspection or don’t ask about your specific needs. Avoid those who provide unclear breakdowns of materials, R-values, or omit details about attic and crawl space insulation. Legitimate professionals in Chesapeake will explain ventilation needs, offer written warranties, and provide local references, ensuring your project meets home energy efficiency standards.

Helpful?

In Chesapeake, hidden costs during insulation projects can arise if contractors discover moisture damage, pest infestations, or the need for additional air sealing in attics and crawl spaces. Unplanned upgrades to ventilation systems or the installation of vapor barriers are also common in Chesapeake’s humid environment. Preparing for these potential issues with your insulation contractor can help you avoid surprises and keep your project on track.
