Customers say: True professional

"Val Little, CEO Irish Accents & Renovations partnered with us & renovated our primary bathroom (late May - early July 2026). Val's work ethic/dedication, impeccable workmanship/attention to detail, & project mgmt. skills are outstanding! His iterative communication style gave us flexibility to make changes during the project & kept all in-synch. The project moved smoothly/efficiently. Daily communication was consistent (e.g. arrival times, daily tasks, end-of-day status, & tasks planned for next day). The project involved much tile-work (wainscot, ceiling/floor borders). Val provided photos of past bathroom reno projects, giving helpful suggestions we used to customize/improve our design. He provided choices (& pros & cons - e.g. wall/floor tile design, fixture placement) to assist us. After task completion, he’d ask for feedback & was always willing to rework an item. He hired & provided oversight to various trusted sub-contractors (demo, plumbing, floor tile, & shower glass/mirror)."

"It was hard to rate this service. There were positives and negatives. I normally handle my own plumbing problems, but I'm getting old and crawling around to do plumbing is getting to be a problem. In this case, I had a problem that I was having trouble with and thought a professional might get it done with less collateral damage to the faucet. I assumed that a plumber would have better tools and some experience with my faucet (not a common model). Neither of these were true, and the lack of sufficient tools and supplies caused my low rating. I had already diagnosed the problem, so what I got was a good plumbing assistant with strong hands and a good back. I supplied some of the tools and supplies, and he made the repairs under my supervision. My problem got fixed, but it took a long time. On the positive side, the plumber was a hard worker and very personable. Furthermore, the charge was reduced based on my helping with the job, so I got a reasonable value for the visit."

"Very professional, from start to finish. From the free estimate to installation it was very organized and easy to get it accomplished. Thanks to Anthony, who presented what they offered to following up and keeping I touch with us to Ray B. And Matt G and Jess the plumber. Plumbing questions, answered by experts

In Chesapeake, plumbing permits are required for projects such as water heater replacement, new plumbing installations, major repairs, repiping, and any work on sewer lines. Both rough-in and final inspections are mandated. For the most accurate guidance, consult the Chesapeake Building Safety Department and review the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, as both outline current permit forms and inspection requirements for plumbing work in Chesapeake.

Helpful?

In Chesapeake, always shut off water and electricity before starting plumbing work. Be cautious of gas lines, especially near water heaters, and ensure proper ventilation for gas appliances. The Chesapeake Building Safety Department and the Virginia Department of Health recommend checking for lead pipes or asbestos in older homes, and considering flood risks or hurricane preparation if your property is in a designated flood zone.

Helpful?

Common mistakes in Chesapeake include skipping required plumbing permits, using incorrect pipe sizes, and neglecting proper venting. Homeowners sometimes overlook local plumbing codes or fail to plan for the area's high humidity and hurricane risks. The Chesapeake Building Safety Department and Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation stress the importance of soil condition assessment and ensuring effective drainage to prevent future plumbing issues.

Helpful?

For plumbing projects in Chesapeake, PEX piping is highly recommended due to its flexibility and resistance to freezing, which is valuable in the local climate. Copper is also favored for its durability, while CPVC works well for drain lines. Given Chesapeake's humidity and proximity to saltwater, the Chesapeake Building Safety Department advises choosing corrosion-resistant materials and checking with local plumbing supply stores for code-compliant options.

Helpful?

During plumbing work in Chesapeake, homeowners often encounter unexpected needs like code compliance upgrades, additional inspections, or repairs for hidden water damage. Local factors—such as high groundwater, hurricane preparedness, or the city's strict plumbing codes—can require extra steps. The Chesapeake Building Safety Department and the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation both highlight the importance of planning for these local challenges to avoid project delays.
