"We recently had the pleasure of working with Climatemakers for HVAC duct Replacement at our home, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and dedicated to ensuring top-notch service. Mike and his team were amazing! The technicians arrived promptly and efficiently installed the ducts during the estimated timelines. They also took care to explain the process every step of the way. Their attention to detail was evident, and they were very respectful and kind during the entire process, which we really appreciated. Not only did Climatemakers deliver on their promise of quality workmanship, but they also exceeded our expectations with their exceptional customer service. "I could not have been more pleased with the service that the technician, Tim, provided, today. He was thorough, did a detailed analysis and cleaning of our HVAC unit. Not only that, the owner personally contacted me once the job is complete and is actually going above and beyond in the follow up care of our unit. as a business owner, myself, I know the value of Customer Service and Mike Hayes and his team of professionals have provided what I would call #GameChangingService Definitely recommend them to anyone who asks and I plan on writing a positive review about them on multiple platforms"

"I recently returned from a trip to find my heat pump was not working and my house was 50 degrees. It was late so I looked online to search for an HVAC repair service. I am extremely glad I found Galactic Air Inc. I filled out an online service request form and the next morning I got a call. The technician told me when he could get to my house and showed up just as he told me. He was pleasant, courteous, and professional. He found the problem within a few minutes. The connection box in my attic had burned up. I was very lucky my house did not catch fire while I was gone. He repaired the connection box and checked out the rest of my system while he was there. My heat pump is working great now. The price was very reasonable for the work he did. I am 100% satisfied and plan to get the maintenance plan from Galactic Air Inc. to keep my system running well. I highly recommend Galactic Air to anyone looking for a good, professional, and reasonably priced HVAC service."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should turn off your AC if it’s leaking. Turning off the system prevents more condensation from leaking and reduces strain on the unit if a damaged internal component or lack of refrigerant is the cause. While this may temporarily stop the leak, water can continue to drip from a thawing coil even after the system is off. As soon as you notice a leak, turn off the unit and investigate the source or call a professional for an inspection.

Here’s the cost formula to find out how much it’ll cost you to run a window air conditioner in your home:  Watts * (hours used) / 1,000 * (Local kWh) = daily cost of running a window unit. If you need help calculating the cost of running your window AC unit, consult an AC repair or installation pro for an accurate estimate.

The right type of HVAC system will depend on several factors, including your climate, budget, preferences, and existing HVAC setup. For example, if you live in an area that experiences extreme weather, then a split system would likely be the best option. Or, if budget is a concern, consider installing a ductless system in just one room.

Air filters with a high MERV rating, 11 or above, shouldn't cause airflow problems in most residential systems. However, the airflow can be restricted in some HVAC systems if they aren't designed for high MERV ratings. If in doubt, a local duct installer should inspect your ductwork so that you know what your system can handle.

As a general rule, you should have your HVAC system professionally serviced at least once a year, though it's best to follow the manufacturer's specific recommendations. Many experts suggest twice-yearly maintenance: once in the spring for the cooling system and once in the fall for the heating system. This is especially recommended for older units, systems with recurring issues, or heat pumps that provide both heating and cooling. Regular service, which can cost between $100 and $550, keeps the system running efficiently, helps prevent costly future repairs, and saves money on utility bills.
