Prouty's Chimney Sweep was founded in 2002 by Greg Prouty in Leesburg, Virginia. Growing up in the business, I'm no stranger to the chimney profession. My father was the owner/operator of Olde Towne Chimney Sweep for much of my childhood. I learned everything I know about sweeping and repairing chimneys from my father and have my certification through the Chimney Safety Institute of America. My mission is to provide excellent service and education to all my customers while maintaining the highest integrity. I'm very passionate about my work and hope that you can trust my suggestions on how to safely maintain your chimney. After all you are starting a fire inside your perfectly good home!

"Prouty did a great job on the chimney liners and ultimately the chimney cap repair. I rated them a C on responsiveness and professionalism specifically for an issue related to finishing the chimney cap in April when the weather conditions allowed for the repair. We financed the project over a six month period. I had requested that they provide pictures of the finished work including the chimney cap. Other companies we have used in the past provide before and after pictures. However, we were told that because they had already completed the chimney cap repair, they would not return to take pictures. It wasn't until we withheld the final payment that they agreed to return and provide pictures; only to find out that the work had not been completed. They were apologetic about the error in the paperwork, but I can't help thinking if we had not withheld the final payment, we would have been unaware that the repair had not been completed. I believe I would hire them again, but would have to make sure to verify the completed work."

"We were so impressed with the kitchen counters and island from ten years ago that we went out of our way to have Dominion Granite install the marble counter tops for our bathroom renovation. Christian and his team were extremely professional and informative the first time, and were just as professional and informative during the most recent installation. They have vast and amazing options on site to select your granite or marble. Meticulous installation with perfect lines and cut-outs. High quality on trend porcelain sinks are also available from Dominion Granite. Their office is urban chic and inviting showroom with amazing slabs in their adjacent warehouse and cutting area. Most highly recommended."

"My chest freezer broke down and I did not want to buy a new one since I could not afford the same size. I reached out to appliance parts pro and they were confident that what I ordered would fix my problem. $200 in parts later and I now have a broken freezer on my porch and am still paying the loan to this terrible company. They just want you to order parts and try them because they know you can't return them. I hate this company with every fiber of my being and will make sure that anyone that has a broken appliance will not use them. To top it off, their site is so screwed up that it give you an error trying to log back in. I ended up having to create THREE different accounts because every time I went to place a new order, it would not let me login and it would not send a password reset email. DON'T GET RIPPED OFF."

We are a family-owned company servicing the DC area since 1999 and we are committed to fair pricing, quality workmanship and timely completion. We have a large selection of stones from natural to man-made stones to choose from. We are a certified Silestone, Caerstone and Cambira fabricator. So call us to visit our showroom. We'll help you to save on some of the most beautiful exotic stones from around the world. We offer excellent value and superior service, compare us to any of our competitors and you'll see the difference, and we can beat any written estimate

"Everything went very well. The office staff (Karen and Trevor) and measurer (Albert) were very easy to work with and they answered all our questions before we started the job. When Albert did the measurements, he explained what could happen given our situation with the backsplash tile and the installer (Roberto) said the same thing before his crew started the installation. Roberto and his crew did an excellent job and was able to work with the backsplash situation to make everything fit and look great without having to remove any of the backsplash tile. It was nice to have an installation crew who were very experienced and knowledgeable and had all the right tools and supplies to do the countertop installation and the plumbing to install both sinks. If I ever need this type of service in the future, I will definitely give them a call."

Family Owned and Operated since 1985. Largest Showroom in the Region. Most Brands and Models on Display. In-House Delivery and Installation Available. Low-Pressure, Friendly, Highly Trained Sales Staff. We Do Not Sell on the Internet. Contact store directly for further conversation.

"We were looking for a Speed Queen washer (which is available at only 3 places locally) where I live. While another business had the one I wanted in stock, we decided to purchase from Appliance Connection because they were extremely knowledgeable, very patient as I was trying to make my decision, and they have their own delivery crew. We dealt with Richard Doverman for the sale. I was concerned about the Speed Queen because I noticed some of the tubs were a little rough at the seamlines. Richard ensured that the one that came in met my approval for “smoothness” and wrote up the contract in a way that made us feel we wouldn’t get stuck with something we weren’t happy with. When the washer arrived for delivery, we did learn that they used only dollies for delivery, rather than moving straps. We were worried that the dolly might harm our stone stairs outside and our hardwood stairs inside, so we deferred delivery that day. We then worked with Mark Romeo, who personally helped coordinate the delivery with us (we had arranged for someone comfortable with the strap method to handle part of the job for us). Mark personally ensured that the delivery was made at the same time we had the other men on site to move the new washer upstairs. Anthony delivered and installed the new Speed Queen. Our old washer was in a pan in case of leaks and we couldn’t remember if there was a drain under it. My husband was prepared to cut a hole in the new pan if that was the case, but hoping it would not be necessary. Unfortunately, once the old washer was removed, we saw that there was a drain hole in the old pan. We spent quite while trying to figure out a good way to cut the hole in the new pan so that it lined up perfectly (sounds easy, but it wasn’t going well), so we finally decided to just use the pan without cutting the hole for the drain for the time being. This whole time, Anthony was extremely patient and pleasant with us. I could tell Anthony knew exactly what he was doing with the installation and he took great care to make sure the machine was properly placed, connected, and leveled. I really can’t think of another business with so many employees who are so pleasant, accommodating, and patient."

2008 years of experience

Appliancezone.com is a leading on-line retailer of appliance parts and accessories for do-it-yourself homeowners. Incorporated in 2008, it was started by CEO, Jim Allen and his wife Paula, who operated an appliance repair business for nearly fourteen years prior to starting the internet company Appliance Zone.

"This is the first online review I've ever written -- my experience with this company was that bad. Three aspects that deserve attention: 1) I placed an order and tried to cancel six minutes later. Turns out they don't accept cancellations. 2) I couldn't find a phone number, so I had to work the return/refund by email. The exchange was painful -- so unhelpful I felt like I was interacting with a bad chatbot. 3) I ended up eating shipping costs (expected) and got hit for a 50% restocking fee (unexpected) because I refused the package instead of paying to ship it back. Didn't matter that it went to the correct address, was clearly labeled, and had prior return authorization. So I ended up with a $21 refund on a $60 order, and a lesson learned about where not to buy appliance parts."

Appliance Sales questions, answered by experts

With a gas stove, it’s easy to adjust the heat and flame size, which gives you more control and speeds up cooking times. Preheating and boiling water are also quicker with a gas stove versus an electric stove. However, gas stoves have drawbacks as well, including the fact that they release toxic fumes when in use. Plus, they’re more expensive and harder to clean than electric stoves.

No specific appliance brand lasts longer than others, as the lifespan of appliances varies depending on the type of appliance, product line, and more, in addition to the brand name. However, brands like GE®, LG®, Maytag®, Bosch®, Whirlpool®, and Kitchenaid® are known to manufacture high-quality appliances that tend to have longer lifespans. Many of the appliances from these companies can also more easily be repaired, which helps extend useful life before replacement is necessary.

Most appliance retailers have dedicated installation teams that can tackle the delivery and installation process simultaneously. Unfortunately, just because a retailer sells a specific appliance brand doesn’t mean that its installation technicians are certified by that manufacturer to complete the installation. You could end up with a voided warranty if the installer isn't certified, costing more money down the road. It’s best to find an installer that is certified by your appliance manufacturer, even if it means paying more or dealing with potential scheduling conflicts.

HVAC systems use the most household electricity. This major and essential system is responsible for heating and cooling your home all year round. Since they operate for a significant amount during the day, it consumes more energy than other appliances.

If you have a stainless steel appliance and notice a scratch, your first instinct might be to panic. There’s no need to reconsider your appliance choices—minor scratches are an unfortunate but totally normal part of stainless steel wear-and-tear.

Stainless steel is practically rust-resistant, though if you have many hairline scratches (or a significant deep scratch), it is more likely to become discolored and potentially start to form rust if bacteria gets in the scratches.
