"I was able to finalize an appointment for the next day with Ashkan last minute during my options period. He was so thorough, addressing all of my issues and finding other issues that my home inspector didn't catch. He is very responsive, patient, and friendly and as others mentioned answered all of my questions and provided solutions for next steps. If I ever need a structural engineer, Ashkan is my go-to."

"Hunter H. was our specialist and he was fantastic! He was polite and on time, as scheduled. Hunter has a very professional demeanor and was very communicative about all the inspection steps. He was also very nice in allowing us to ask him any questions that we had throughout and very respectful of the property. Hopefully, we will not have to have another structural inspection for a very long time, but if we do, we definitely recommend GreenWorks and Hunter in particular."

Customers say: True professional

"The services performed by lead engineer Adam Green were excellent. Adam arrived on time, was dressed professionally, and brought a positive “just the facts, ma’am” demeanor, which I greatly appreciated. Adam was thorough and efficient. He answered all my questions honestly and directly. In addition, Melissa, who handled my original call to Crosstown, was extremely professional. When we spoke on the on the phone, I could tell she was actually listening to me and focusing on my expectations from Crosstown. She wasn’t just waiting to give me a speech or quote a price. She explained the difference between having the lead engineer ( Adam ) and having another engineer come out for the assessment. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend Crosstown to anyone who was having issues with their foundation or to anyone who was interested in an unbiased factual report based on science."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

In Austin, structural engineering maintenance often starts with regular structural inspections of your foundation, especially due to shifting clay soils. Keep gutters and drainage systems clear to prevent water pooling near load-bearing walls. After heavy rain, check for cracks or movement in retaining walls if your property is sloped. Consistent upkeep of expansion joints and waterproofing will help prevent long-term structural issues.

Helpful?

Before starting structural engineering projects in Austin, schedule a thorough structural inspection and soil analysis to understand local conditions. Secure all necessary permits early, as approval times can vary. Review any HOA or historic district guidelines that may apply. Always confirm utility locations before excavation, and plan for possible adjustments if your property has expansive clay or limestone soils common in the area.

Helpful?

Completing structural engineering projects in Austin can greatly enhance your home’s value and marketability. Addressing foundation repairs and reinforcing load-bearing walls reassures buyers about long-term stability. Adding features like ADUs or garages is especially attractive in Austin’s active market. Flood mitigation improvements and energy-efficient upgrades, such as enhanced insulation, also make your property more appealing to prospective buyers seeking comfort and durability.

Helpful?

In Austin, combining structural engineering work with upgrades like foundation repair, structural inspections, or plumbing reroutes can minimize disruption and streamline scheduling. Pairing these with projects such as adding an ADU or upgrading load-bearing walls can also help maximize efficiency. Coordinating with energy efficiency improvements, like insulation or window upgrades, often allows you to take advantage of local incentives and reduce overall project timelines.

Helpful?

In Austin, homeowners sometimes overlook the need for proper drainage planning, leading to water damage near foundations. Failing to address shifting soils or neglecting regular structural inspections can result in costly repairs. Starting work during the rainy season may cause delays, and hiring professionals unfamiliar with Austin’s unique geology or skipping required permits can complicate future property sales.
