"Kamal was extremely helpful in surveying the structural integrity of our dock. He went through immense detail to outline everything that needed to be repaired and was very efficient in getting it back to me for our broker in the sale of our home. I highly recommend Alaska engine engineering!"

Customers say: True professional

"The services performed by lead engineer Adam Green were excellent. Adam arrived on time, was dressed professionally, and brought a positive “just the facts, ma’am” demeanor, which I greatly appreciated. Adam was thorough and efficient. He answered all my questions honestly and directly. In addition, Melissa, who handled my original call to Crosstown, was extremely professional. When we spoke on the on the phone, I could tell she was actually listening to me and focusing on my expectations from Crosstown. She wasn’t just waiting to give me a speech or quote a price. She explained the difference between having the lead engineer ( Adam ) and having another engineer come out for the assessment. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend Crosstown to anyone who was having issues with their foundation or to anyone who was interested in an unbiased factual report based on science."

Small jobs welcome

"I should have used Charles Todd Helton. A friend recommended me to another architect. I used the other. Big mistake on my part. I had a bad experience using the other one. I found Charles to be more professional, honest, more tuned in to what I wanted for a home design."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

In Georgetown, regularly inspect your foundation for new cracks or uneven settling, as local soils can shift dramatically. Maintain consistent moisture levels around your home’s perimeter with proper irrigation and drainage. After severe storms, schedule structural inspections for your roof and walls. Check that expansion joints and waterproofing systems are intact to handle temperature swings and seasonal heavy rains unique to the region.

Helpful?

In Georgetown, act quickly if you notice signs like foundation settlement, wide cracks, or doors and windows suddenly sticking—these can signal urgent structural problems. Water intrusion or storm-related damage should also be addressed before the next heavy rain. Minor cosmetic cracks or planned upgrades can usually wait, but always consult a local expert after severe weather or before major renovations to ensure safety.

Helpful?

In Georgetown, foundation systems are especially vulnerable due to shifting clay soils that expand and contract with rainfall. Over time, you may also notice issues with load-bearing walls, particularly in older homes, and roof framing after hail or windstorms. Retaining walls and detached garages often need structural engineering attention as well, given the area’s soil movement and frequent high winds.

Helpful?

In Georgetown, be wary of quotes that don’t include soil testing, as understanding local soil is critical. Avoid professionals lacking experience with Georgetown’s unique conditions. Unusually low bids may indicate shortcuts or incomplete analysis. Steer clear of anyone pressuring for immediate decisions, and always request proof of insurance and references from other TX projects to confirm reliability and expertise.

Helpful?

The success of structural engineering work in Georgetown hinges on addressing the area’s expansive clay soils and unpredictable weather. Using professionals familiar with local building codes and soil conditions is crucial. Effective drainage design and moisture management help prevent future foundation problems. Long-term results also depend on choosing materials and solutions tailored to Georgetown’s climate and ensuring all work meets city regulations.
