I came back a couple of weeks later because I had a nail in one of my brand new tires, and they fit me in their schedule for a tire repair. I brought my brother-in-law's 1994 Toyota 4Runner in for an oil change and tire rotation a few weeks later, but they didn't want to do the oil change because of lifter noise from the engine. The service manager said their lightweight oil could possibly make the noise worse, and didn't want to take that chance. They went ahead and rotated the tires and did a courtesy check. The only thing they recommended was an alignment, and I got out of there for $10. I've been to this shop in the past whenever we're in Brownsville (we live in St. Louis and visit family in Brownsville every summer) for oil changes and tire rotations, and never had a problem. One of the Firestone shops near where we live in STL will come up with a laundry list of highly-recommended items to fix. I used to go in there for an oil change and tire rotation, and get a recommend repair list that would total over $1000. This is not the case with the Firestone in Brownsville. Next time we're in Brownsville and need our Odyssey serviced, I'll take it here.

They built pools for two, different friends, both of which were very pleased with the work and experience. Sales and Design Steve was eager, on time and listened. He shared great ideas that complimented our original vision, without trying to talk us into or out of things. We had visits with other pool companies where they ried to talk us out of saltwater or certain design elements. He was creative and thorough, hand-drawing the design of our pool, and to scale. Administrative Vickie managed our billing and appointments and was always very responsive to change orders and helping us with the paperwork necessary to complete payments. Project Management Jeff was our project manager. He had a good management of his crews. When we encountered some surprises due to a hig high water table, Majestic was very fair and worked with us for the cheapest possible solution to complete excavation while still giving us the design we wanted at the total cost we discussed. Add?l labor and rocks were minimal compared to overall project cost. A pool is not just a pool. There's landscaping, fence work and sometimes other structures to be built and we were very pleased with all of the referrals provided to us by Majestic. They recommended Tomas (our landscape guy) who did all of the bamboo, repaired sprinklers, graded the yard, resodded front and back, put in a French drain, and laid rocks and trim. He was quick, had very good rates and we are very pleased with his work and will use him again. They recommended Matt at Southern Outdoor Appeal. See that review for a full review of the great job they did on the porch/roof and outdoor fireplace with stained concrete countertops. They recommended CJ who did quick, high quality, affordable work on our fences and installed a gate on our back fenceline.
Overall Majestic was not the lowest cost or highest cost we talked to. They were dependable, consistent and thorough. They would have moved quicker if it weren?t for the high water table and us also having porch built. Doing both at the same time caused some delays but those were mainly due to it being the peak demand of the year. It seemed like business was up, way up, for everyone this year and occasionally we had to lose a couple days here or there to wait for the next crew to show up. A small price to pay for something we hope to enjoy for many many years to come. I will gladly be a referral for Majestic. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that although the 3D design drawings themselves were very well done, the new kitchen layout they proposed didn't incorporate the primary changes I was looking to make to my kitchen and actually made worse use of the available space than the layout that is already there. Part of the problem is that I wasn't able to speak or work directly with the designer. Instead, their construction manager, John, came out for my "design meeting" so the person who actually drew up the design never spoke with me and probably had no idea what I was trying to accomplish. John arrived right on time and spoke very knowledgeably about potential material and construction issues that could impact a kitchen remodel but he took no notes on any of the things we discussed or my explanation of my goals for the remodel. Beyond taking the three basic measurements of the room, he took down no other design details. So, as you might expect given only the general room dimensions, the design drawings I got back were for a generic kitchen that wouldn't actually work in my home since it lacked any connection with the rest of the building's structures. It would have worked for an example kitchen layout in the middle of a large showroom floor at Ikea, but it wasn't going to work surrounded by the other rooms in my home. I am very glad I didn't pay $500 for the service, although, since I didn't get anything close to what I wanted, even $75 was too much to pay. I am now reading up on DIY kitchen design and will prepare my own drawings. My parents home was destroyed in the Bastrop Complex fire on Labor day weekend, 2011. At the same time a different fire blazed through out neighborhood and burned all of the one acre forest behind our house. My parents moved in with us and we helped them work thorough the devastation of their lost lives. We then started talking about rebuilding, do we use the old slab, or not? Who do we call? We called the largest builder in our subdivision, we met with them and they didn't really have a plan that would work and they seemed high for the size they quoted. My mom had gotten a letter in the mail from a builder offering his services. My first reaction was " throw it away" as we had heard about all these "fly by night" builders who were trying to capitalize on this disaster. After the deal didn't fly with the first builder I told mom "let's call him" so we did. Mom called and visited with Sanford "Sandy" Meyerson, and he was very personable. He also told her that by coincidence, he had built a small office behind one of our neighbors, right on our street! So of course right away I contacted our neighbor who had glowing reviews for Sandy, and invited us down for a look at his handywork.We were all very impressed with the place and his demeanor, along with his business plan of using local vendors, Plus he belongs to "Angel Wings" which is a group of pilots who flies Cancer patients back and forth for treatment. His house was one of the few that survived in the Tahitian Village community in Bastrop so he was immersed in this disaster. He was also one of the selected builders to participate in the "Extreme Home Makeover" show filmed here in Bastrop. We felt good about Sandy, and proceeded:We had a floor plan from one of our neighbors who had a guest cottage they had built for their parents. They invited us down for a look and it was perfect, albiet a bit small. We have Sandy the floor plan, and asked to blow up the bedroom and living room. The other challenge was getting it to match our house, and to pass our very strict HOA building approval. This was all happening around Christmas time. We hadn't even signed a contract with Sandy and he brought my folks a beautiful gift basket. He worked hard to get the plans to work, and put in the custom features we needed such as ADA features.Then the day came, he was ready to submit the bid. He came over with the contract, and his offer. The price was quite a bit more than we had expected for a small house, but given the bid we got from the first builder, that must just be what it costs. He didn't expect them to decide right away so left us with the paperwork. After some debating, we (well my parents anyway decided to move forward.The construction:First thing I have to say, Sandy takes no shortcuts. I told him of the shifty soil we have and all the neighbors having foundation troubles. He asked for our engineering report from when we built, and once he had it in hand, he just about turned white. "we are gonna beef up that slab" and boy did he. I have never seen so much iron in a slab in my life! The guys he has that does slab and concrete work are amazing. They made little mini ramps built into the concrete by the front and back doors to make it easier for my dad!The construction process has gone smoothly and pretty swiftly. Sandy did all sorts of creative thinking to save money and resources for my folks who were building this with limited resources. One of our neighbors stopped by and I saw him looking closely at the lumber "he uses top grade lumber, this stuff's not cheap" I never even gave it a thought, but asked Sandy and he told me it's not worth saving a bit on cheap lumber. He's also very good about calling and checking with you on small details. He wants it to be right.Today's date: June 15th. In two weeks, it will have been four months since the slab was poured.Construction has gone on at a steady pace. We have since I began this review met all of his subs and seen their work. Every one of them is a master in his/her trade. Some of the things they have done, I have never seen done, like using this little tool that makes every grout line in the outdoor brick, exactly the same depth. It's beautiful.The home should be finished in two weeks. Yesterday they installed the AC system and even that guy from Leon's was very nice, and explained some of the "little extra's" he did to make sure the system is right. I expected the kitchen cabinets would come from a major cabinet factory like Merrilatt or the such, but nope. Sandy has a custom cabinet maker who came over and sat down with my mom, helped her pick the wood and then helped her design her layout. Tile work has been excellent. They have been very creative within mom and dad's budget. Granite countertops were done with such care you cannot see the one and only seam. The concrete guys have done all the flatwork and it's beautiful. They designed it to carry the water from our existing driveway all the way to the end and off into the yard. The house was finished and they moved in the second week of July. The house turned out perfect and the remaining bill was actually less than we expected. We were 100% satisfied with the work, with Sandy and his crews."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/smithville/meyerson-custom-builders-lp-reviews-6564453.htm"},"position":7},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Avanquest Software Inc","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"TX","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Dan K."},"reviewBody":"Overall, this was a nightmare experience. I sold my used engine to him for a pittance of $500 and was sold a "new" outboard that was at least a year or more old. I would not deal with him ever again for anything. He definitely took advantage of my ignorance of outboards and did only those things which were most advantageous to himself. He eventually took the "new" engine back and I got a refund on the "new" engine. I still lost at least $3000 considering the repair bills and loss of the original used engine. I fist stopped by his business just to ask some questions, as I am recently retired and was thinking about getting a fishing boat that my wife and I could use. Perhaps I asked too many questions. In my opinion, he was not totally truthful about the repairs to the used motor or the "new" motor. I will not be doing business with him again.

Then they came on Monday and were able to take it out with no damage to our fence, other trees, building structures or anything. They then shredded it and took away the dead materials. We have had them do work before and have always been pleased with both the service and price. Before we met them we had used some of the itinerate tree trimmers and there is simply no comparison. My only concerns are the extra trim put around the windows was not cut down to match the existing piece, it sticks out about 1/2 inch farther. Also, some non-structural wood rot was found while installing the windows that the installers didn't even mention and I didn't see until a close inspection after everything was in. It would be easiest to make the repairs with the windows out, but I have found a work around. This, along with the ease of installation by their crew is why I opted to install the windows myself for the second half."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/taylor/ringer-windows-reviews-468934.htm"},"position":10}]}

"Working with Groundworks was wonderful from start to finish. It began with their sales team, Rich G, ensuring my old, quirky home had a customized and thorough solution, phased out to make the job more approachable. Rich took the time to understand my goals for the project and the nuances of my house even though that took significant time and multiple trips to my home. The installation crew (Jose N., Phil S., Diego A.) was professional, prompt and answered ALL of my questions. Their communication kept me informed every step of the way! When the job was completed, it looked like they had never been here - the yard and landscaping look untouched. I would definitely recommend Groundworks for anyone who needs to have their foundation worked on!"

Do you have experience working in my specific area?

How long have you been in business?
Do you have a list of customer references?

Whether you’re building a new home or building an extension on your existing property, you will likely need both a structural engineer and an architect. A structural engineer will determine what loads your foundation and framing can safely handle, and an architect will draw plans according to those structural calculations to simplify the building process. You can start by contacting a structural engineer near you, as many work alongside architects and can get all of the prep work done at once.
