"My toilet was loose and unbolted from the batroom floor.  I called Aaaction Plumbing on a Sunday after a horrible experience with another plumber who I paid a deposit to fix the toilet and he could not figure out the problem after 7 days. This is my rental property and my tenants were getting upset about the delay which resulted in 1 functional bathroom in the house. So I called Aaaction Plumbing on Sunday and they came out within 2 hours and diagnosed the problem. They replaced the flange on Monday and bolted the toilet securely to the ground.  They were very nice, even calling me in advance when they were on their way and waiting for me at the property.  They explained the problem and also cleaned up the bathroom which was a mess from the other plumber.  I will always use Aaaction Plumbing. They are very respectful and courteous. They did a good job."

"It went pretty well. Andrew responded quickly to my call and informed me to reschedule the appointment due to his emergency. Andrew and his assistant showed up on time and are very professional. They jet cleaned the drainage pipe in order to run the locator to find the sewer line exiting out of kitchen to the back yard. Their price is very reasonable, a lot lower than the other plumbing company that I got the quote for the same work. Highly recommend their service and will reuse them again.

"The technician was very prompt and had a pleasant personality. He cleared the blockage in record time and still had a minute or two for upbeat conversation. The work area was left clean as though he had never been there. All in all it was a nice experience."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

If you’re wondering whether rats can come up the toilet, the unfortunate answer is yes, it’s possible, though it’s extremely rare. These rodents are excellent swimmers and can travel through sewer pipes in search of food, and they may follow plumbing lines leading to your home if they’re drawn by the scent of scraps and waste. The toilet’s U-bend holds a small pocket of air, which can help a rat catch its breath before making its final push into your bathroom. While more common in cities with larger rat populations, this can happen anywhere with connected sewer systems; sealing entry points and keeping drains clean can help reduce the risk.

It can take anywhere from one month to a couple of years for tree roots to grow back in sewer lines. Tree roots can cause extreme havoc on your sewer lines, potentially cracking them and causing untreated wastewater to make its way into the groundwater. Have a landscaping pro remove trees and roots before installing your system, or call a pro to do it retroactively as soon as you can.

As a preventative measure, hydro jetting should be done every one to two years. However, the best practice is to hydro jet your sewer line once per year. The ideal frequency depends on several factors, including the age and condition of your pipes, how prone they are to clogging, how often the sewer line is used, and the type of waste disposed of in the system. If you frequently experience clogs or are unsure, it's best to ask a licensed plumber for a recommendation specific to your plumbing system.

The cost to clean a sewer line is about $370, ranging from about $190 to $550 on average. The specific cleaning method and the problem's severity will impact the project's overall cost. Some of the most common sewer line cleaning methods include:

  • Snaking or rodding: $100–$250

  • Hydrojetting: $350–$600

  • Chemical treatments: $600–$1,000

  • Repair or replacement: $1,000–$7,500

Your sewer line can get grimy quickly. To prevent sludge buildup in your sewer line, pour a mixture of 1/3 cup of vinegar and 1/3 cup of baking soda down each drain in your home once a month. After about 30 minutes, flush the drain with hot water.

Some plumbers recommend 3/4 cup of bleach instead to clean any germs and bacteria that may build up in your sewer line. But this won’t break down any active clogs, and it cannot be combined with vinegar, as the mixture will create a toxic, hazardous gas.
