Customers say: Quick response

"Mike and his team did an excellent job finishing our basement. We've lived in our house for 20+ years, and our basement was in such poor condition that we thought it was impossible to finish - well Mike did it! Our new space is above and beyond what we thought possible. Mike was very upfront about what could be done and offered great suggestions. He was excellent with communication and his contract and pricing were transparent and very professional. One of his subcontractors accidentally damaged our mailbox with a truck and Mike ensured that it was repaired correctly. No detail was overlooked. This project was a dream come true for us and we have NO complaints! If you are considering having work done, we would highly recommend Mike and his team. You'll be in great hands."

"Wow! Called me 10 minutes after I posted busted water pipe inside the wall. Onsite within 2 hrs. Both Randy & Chris came. Randy talked us through everything needed. Chris didnt talk so much but got right to work and finished quickly. Chris gave us tips for maintenance we could do to prevent a future call for this issue. Will definitely call this company for future needs."

"our handyman installer was very customer service oriented, friendly and easy to work with. he did the whole project uninstalling and installing the microwave over-the-range appliance in less than an hour (40-45 min). I really appreciated that Mr. Handyman offered the haul-away service of the old appliance that the other home handyman services I was considering did not. overall, it was excellent--a professional and efficient home installation service. the cost was also comparable with what Home Depot was charging. I will definitely keep Mr. Handyman in mind for any upcoming home projects we may need."

"Darin assembled a full size Murphy bed and cabinet that we had purchased from Home Depot. It was a complicated assembly and Darin’s skills and experience were just what we needed to get it right. He is professional, hardworking, and conscientious. I highly recommend him and will hire him again."

"Bob and his son are very professional. Bob is definitely worth the price and the quality of work is excellent. We had a service panel installed and Bob was very tidy with how he bundled the wires. Once he was finished the work space was very clean and the job was exactly how I wanted it. The only thing that I had a problem with was that he can be difficult to get touch with. I would definitely recommend him"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

A fireplace hearth is necessary in most areas per building codes, especially for gas and wood-burning fireplaces. Electric fireplaces may not require a hearth, so check local building codes or ask a pro for guidance if you’re leaning toward electric. A fireplace hearth can decrease the risk of flying embers creating a fire and burning your home down. That’s why fireproof material, like tile, is used for the hearth.

No material is genuinely fireproof, so there’s no genuinely fireproof safe. Any material would break down if exposed to a hot enough temperature for long enough. That said, safes can withstand certain house fires. Manufacturers use the term “fireproof” synonymously with “fire resistant.”

There are several strategic ways to lower your home insurance premium. The primary one is to shop around and get quotes every few years to make sure you’re getting the best deal. Also, sometimes bundling your auto and homeowner’s insurance will get you a discount on both. Finally, try to keep your credit score up; many homeowner insurance companies use credit scores to generate quotes.

In most cases, having a fire hydrant installed on your property, whether it’s maintained by you personally or your municipality, will reduce your insurance premiums. Its proximity to any buildings on the property will reduce the time it takes to put out a fire, thus reducing the resulting damage.

There are several tools available to help prevent electrical fires. First, ensure that you have GFCI outlets installed in necessary areas, along with an AFCI, which is a circuit breaker that can help prevent arc-faults. Investing in surge protectors is also wise, as they can safeguard your appliances and other items against power surges that may overload your outlet and cause sparking.
