"In October, 2020, National Heating & Air Conditioning installed a Carrier brand ductless heat pump/mini-split system in our home, including 1 heat pump, 3 heads, and 3 hand-held remote controls for $6,992.00. We were told it would offer us “zone control.” and to “set it and forget it.” Within a month of installation, the system was malfunctioning; all heads produced heat any time one head called for heat meaning, no zone control. After the technician and Rick Milne, the “Comfort Consultant” from National confirmed the unit was not operating properly, they suggested we would need wall mounted thermostats installed to fix the problem. We wanted the system to work as we were told it would work, with the remotes that came with the system. We opened a claim/complaint with Carrier. Rick and Len Winkler, the Carrier Service Tech Mgr. began contradicting themselves by suddenly saying the system was working “exactly as it is engineered to work” while simultaneously saying the only solution to the “problem” was “wall-mounted thermostats” that they would “not charge us to ‘buy’ or have installed.” After 5 months of gas-lighting, giving us the runaround, we insisted they “repair, replace or remove the defective system and refund us.” They chose the later—and this is after Rick gave us his word that he’d “do whatever it took to get the system working properly.” On the day of removal, they tried to have us sign a customer satisfaction guarantee that was not given to us on the day of installation that said if we were not 100% satisfied with the system, they would remove it. When we suggested they should have given us that agreement to sign the day of installation, we were met with more gaslighting, telling us the reason for that was because they were not doing paperwork during COVID. NOTE: They had no problem doing the paperwork on the day of installation for receipt of payment for the system, and giving us the owner’s manual that told us exactly how the system should work. We now have a DAIKIN brand ductless heat-pump with 1 heat pump, 3 heads, 3 hand-held remotes, fantastic zone control, and exceptional customer service from another local Heating & Air Conditioning provider who has received the “Best of The Best” award several years in a row, for obvious reasons! Daikin offers a far superior warranty on BOTH parts AND labor—twelve years on both! Every extra penny we spent has been worth the difference to have a properly operating system and to have prompt response time to all forms of communication!"

Call our office or come on in and look around our showroom, and find out why our motto is: "Your Comfort is Our Mission."

"In 2021 they replaced the main pan and said the new pump that was installed would take care of the water and the drain that was on the pan would not be necessary so they disconnected it. When they came out on Saturday before the 4th of July Hunter said the secondary pan had filled up because the 4x4 that the machine was sitting on had tipped so the top pan had tilted and water went into the second pan which didn't have a drain destroying the ceiling again. Hunter also said he straightened the 4x4 and cleaned the second pan and looked at the old disconnected drain. He suggested we have someone come instal a new drain and strap the machine to the 4x4. He said the pump should work until I had those things done. I came home late Sunday to a hugh puddle of water and a bigger wet spot on the ceiling. Now my ceiling has twice as much to be repaired and also the floor is probably ruined! My homeowners insurance is hopefully going to pay for the damage but I have to pay a $1000 deductible besides the $290 I paid on the 2nd. I will never use them again and would not recommend them either!"

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Depending on the model of your fireplace, you can leave your pilot light on year-round. This does use a small amount of fuel, so you’ll save on your energy bill by turning off the pilot light seasonally. Keep in mind that some gas fireplace models don’t have a standing pilot light.

DIY is not recommended due to safety and venting requirements. Professional installation ensures proper operation and compliance with codes.

Yes, it can be worth installing a gas fireplace, depending on your home heating needs. The cost to install a gas fireplace can be much lower than the cost to install a comparable wood-burning fireplace. The convenience of starting a fire with the flip of a switch and turning it off just as quickly makes a gas fireplace a big time saver over starting and maintaining a wood-fueled fire. A gas fireplace also does not require ash cleanup or frequent chimney cleaning to remove creosote and other buildup that can lead to chimney fires. Gas fireplaces burn and heat much more cleanly than wood fireplaces.

Yes, there are regulations on using wood stoves, particularly concerning emissions and installation standards. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sets emission limits for wood stoves to ensure they burn cleaner and more efficiently. Additionally, local building codes may have specific requirements for installation and venting, so it's essential to check with local authorities before installing or upgrading your stove.

How big a fire pit should be depends on how many people you want to get around it on a regular basis, and how big your space is. The average fire pit size is between 36 and 44 inches. However, if you regularly host big gatherings and have the appropriate outdoor space, you can go as big as 72 inches.
