In October, 2020, National Heating & Air Conditioning installed a Carrier brand ductless heat pump/mini-split system in our home, including 1 heat pump, 3 heads, and 3 hand-held remote controls for $6,992.00. We were told it would offer us “zone control.” and to “set it and forget it.” Within a month of installation, the system was malfunctioning; all heads produced heat any time one head called for heat meaning, no zone control. After the technician and Rick Milne, the “Comfort Consultant” from National confirmed the unit was not operating properly, they suggested we would need wall mounted thermostats installed to fix the problem. We wanted the system to work as we were told it would work, with the remotes that came with the system. We opened a claim/complaint with Carrier. Rick and Len Winkler, the Carrier Service Tech Mgr. began contradicting themselves by suddenly saying the system was working “exactly as it is engineered to work” while simultaneously saying the only solution to the “problem” was “wall-mounted thermostats” that they would “not charge us to ‘buy’ or have installed.” After 5 months of gas-lighting, giving us the runaround, we insisted they “repair, replace or remove the defective system and refund us.” They chose the later—and this is after Rick gave us his word that he’d “do whatever it took to get the system working properly.” On the day of removal, they tried to have us sign a customer satisfaction guarantee that was not given to us on the day of installation that said if we were not 100% satisfied with the system, they would remove it. When we suggested they should have given us that agreement to sign the day of installation, we were met with more gaslighting, telling us the reason for that was because they were not doing paperwork during COVID. NOTE: They had no problem doing the paperwork on the day of installation for receipt of payment for the system, and giving us the owner’s manual that told us exactly how the system should work. We now have a DAIKIN brand ductless heat-pump with 1 heat pump, 3 heads, 3 hand-held remotes, fantastic zone control, and exceptional customer service from another local Heating & Air Conditioning provider who has received the “Best of The Best” award several years in a row, for obvious reasons! Daikin offers a far superior warranty on BOTH parts AND labor—twelve years on both! Every extra penny we spent has been worth the difference to have a properly operating system and to have prompt response time to all forms of communication!

The cost was much more then the estimate. The system they recommended did not heat our home. We had to use space heater in our Oregon home.

They proposed a zone system using another thermostat and electric dampers. Once installed our 3 ton air conditioner keeps our whole house comfortable without the air conditioner running all the time saving on our energy costs.

Initially in the project, this company would have received all A's. The technicians arrived on time, were courteous and performed their tasks with expertise and professionalism. However, when the interior work was completed and the project was finished with the exception of the crawl space duct work, the company had and quot;scheduling issuesand quot; and when a couple of weeks passed and we requested them to complete the job, they ultimately recommended replacement of all the duct-work. When the owner, Carl, was asked to address this change of plan, the office manager phoned to state that she had been delegated by Carl to answer questions. It was at this point the situation became very odd. The office manager stated we had insisted that the ducts all be replaced while they were on site, the last day of the initial project phase. The reality was that we had asked for bids for both repair versus replacement to determine the best use of our funds. Regardless, it appears the company did not have interest in the crawl space work and basically the relationship had deteriorated at that point, so we did not have them complete the work. The owner did finally contact us after our insistence and likely based on the fact that they had not yet been paid for the initial work. They also scheduled an inspection through Jackson County for a couple of weeks in the future, called two days before the inspection was scheduled in a panic that we had not yet had an inspection. When I reminded them that we were scheduled for that very week, they denied having scheduled the appointment. Then, when it was confirmed, the office assistant blamed us for scheduling too far in advance. We paid them once the project passed inspection- a few weeks after completion.

They changed the filters, inspected it and there was a rattle that they fixed. The annual service includes all those sorts of things. They are reliable, timely, and I think the price is reasonable. They seem to do good service for the price and are easy to deal with in terms of making appointments and that sort of thing. They are helpful. I live alone and I don't feel like I am the master of all things mechanical. If I have a concern about something like a rattle they don't at all mind checking it out for me, fixing it. It is just helpful.

Our heater was not working. When I called, they thought they would not be able to come the same day, but offered space heaters if we needed them. They got an opening in their schedule and called to see if it was okay to come that day. A serviceman came, diagnosed the problem and fixed it.

We found them through referral. They were reasonably priced and very responsive. If something didn't get fixed, they would come back and make sure it is fixed.

Even though there was a damaged part put in by the first technician and it did cause some inconvenience; we appreciated the prompt response to fix the issue. Except for one employee...we found the technicians and office staff courteous and friendly and they continue to be helpful. Their honesty and willingness to get things right was much appreciated. The gas furnance is very efficient and a great backup to our woodstove. We find it is far more economical than our old furnance and appreciate the lower gas bills. We would definitely go to this company again.
