"In the early Spring of 2022 we hired Millspaugh to build a 10X24 feet porch over a deck. They gave us a bid which seemed reasonable, and began work shortly thereafter. We were very pleased with all aspects of their work. They were prompt, exactly on budget, on schedule, and very nice people with whom to deal. We highly recommend their services! Sincerely, Dr. J. Customers say: Quick response

"Ricardo is very knowledgeable about plant maintenance. He and Leon removed the roots of the few blackberry plants that decided to take up residence in my yard, Ricardo did from scratch my boxwood that’s had been growing, into perfect topiary pieces of art. I said I wanted a snowman, a basketball and a football. He did exactly what I wanted. The only casualty was a slice in my lightweight wire fence from the metal blade on the weed eater while doing my country fence line."

"We needed a new vinyl click lock floor installed throughout our house. Adam and Jack were wonderful. It was a pretty big job, and they did amazing work. Very conscientious about doing a great job, timely and cleaned up every night, as we were living in the house while they worked. Can’t recommend them enough, 5 stars ⭐️ Plus !"

"Highly recommend Marshall! Prompt and professional client service as well as quality work. He did an incredible job on our Christmas light installation outside and did it at a righteous price. We booked Marshall to come back in January to take down the lights as well as clean out the gutters. We're so happy to have someone like Marshall we can count on for all future work like this at our home. Looking forward to hiring again!"

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

The simplest way to put Christmas lights on any metal surface is by using a magnetic hook or clip. You can also purchase magnetic lights, which should easily stick to any magnetic surface. Keep in mind that not all metals are magnetic. In that case, you’ll need to use a different clip.

If you need help with your holiday decorating, the first step is determining your lighting and decor needs to narrow down your pro options. For example, if you want a custom outdoor light display with all of the bells and whistles, you’ll likely need to hire a local holiday light installer who specializes in that service. But if you only need to hang some lights inside in hard-to-reach places, consider hiring a handyperson or an interior decorator instead. It’s best to contact at least three different companies for quotes and to find out what services they offer.

The cost for professional holiday light installation averages around $430, with a typical range of $220 to $675. However, prices can be as low as $100 for simple projector setups or exceed $1,200 for extensive displays. The total cost depends on factors like the display's complexity, your home's size, labor rates in your area, and the type of lights used. For example, installation on a small, one-story home may cost $250 to $600, while a multi-story home over 4,000 square feet could cost $500 to $1,800. Costs can also be broken down by location (e.g., high roofs at $3.50–$6 per linear foot) or by the type of light strand, with prices ranging from $4 for basic incandescent strands to over $60 for color-changing LED strands.

To hang Christmas lights on a ceiling without using nails or traditional hooks, you have several damage-free options. Adhesive hooks and clips are a popular choice. For smaller projects, you can use pushpins, tacks, or adhesive putty. Specially designed transparent tape that can hold weight without damaging paint is also effective. For a more creative approach, consider stringing the lights over a curtain rod near the ceiling. If you have a drop ceiling, look for clips and hooks designed to attach to the metal framing. Note that staples can also be used, but may leave small holes.

Considering the pros and cons of hiring a professional holiday light installer can help you decide if it’s right for you. Here are some advantages and disadvantages:

Pros

  • Saves time

  • Reduces stress

  • Produces for custom, high-quality designs

  • Provides better-quality lights

  • Reduces personal safety risks

  • May Include takedown and storage services

Cons

  • More expensive than DIY light installation

  • Less control over the design

  • High demand for installers

  • Contractors may keep the lights and decorations
