System Pavers

We couldn't have been more pleased. Communication was great by all involved. We were glad we decided to have System Pavers build our patio. My husband and I are DIYers and talked about taking the project on ourselves. We were VERY happy we chose to let them do it for us. They were in and out in record time and the patio looks awesome. Now we can enjoy it all summer long insteaded of taking the whole summer to build its

All crew members were professional, courteous, respectful of property, and very responsive. When discrepancy came up, the company was quick to adjust and resolve our concerns. Nick and Justin are easy to work with, honest, and run a company of integrity. They were patient and flexible as we changed our landscape plan several times throughout the process. This company truly cares about their customers.. We would definitely hire them again

Jim has turned my 1950's home into a unique and lovely place to be. He works with you to evolve ideas and then adds his magic touch. He has attractively updated and made functional every room in my house, as well as created a gorgeous piano studio for me and remodeled an apartment that I rent out. He creatively designed a patio that I love, added a cement floor to my garage and created steps going down my steep driveway. He is imaginative, artistic and able to deal with problems that others would not want to touch. Jim is versatile, responsible and reasonably priced. His results daily bring me much happiness

LAUREL BAY GARDENS INC
5.0
We live in Florence, Oregon and Laurel Bay Gardens is located on Highway 101 in Florence, about 60 miles West of Eugene. We interviewed landscaping and garden designers from Eugene which is the closest large city. After we met Lisa and spent some time speaking with her about our project it was clear that she understood and that her company was more than capable of meeting and exceeding our expectations. Our landscape project is coastal and there are several micro-climates across our property. One of main concerns was that we wanted to retain some of the native vegetation, but include some new and different types of tress and plants. The design Lisa created was fantastic. It included birch trees, Japanese maple, vine maple, hydrangea, rhododendron, mexican orange shrubs, clumping bamboo, lavender, lots of different ornamental grasses, several varieties of perennial plants, and creeping ground cover. The entire property was overgrown so there was a lot of cleanup and removal to be done before anything can be started. Lisa's crew trimmed, cleaned and took away all the debris, and opened up areas that were previously inaccessible. A crew of two to three people were at the house every day (depending on the workload for that day) and used a small bobcat to carry the heavy boulders and rocks, and then used hand tools and wheelbarrows to properly place all of the pathway gravel, stepping stones, flagstones, plants and trees. They worked hard all day and took one break in the middle of the day for lunch. At the end of each day they cleaned up and swept all the concrete path and landings. They were polite and helpful and met with Lisa at the house every day to ensure that all the plants, berms, sprinklers and drainage were installed in the correct places and according to plan. The sun over the property changes from summer to fall, and some of the plants in the original plan and design had to be modified. Lisa noticed this immediately and altered the design to adapt to the changing sun hours and shade. Even though this is coastal property there is no rain from July through October and because we wanted flowering plants and plants that thrive in warmer weather, Lisa installed an automatic sprinkler system with four zones, one drip and three spray and rotor. The installation included a timer and the crew really took their time to explain the system, show us how it worked, and let me alter all the settings as a trial run so I was comfortable with the system. The front entrance of the property was initially a mess, and Lisa planned to change the entry point, add some new plants to the north and south of the entry. There was no entry sign with house numbers at the start of the project so Lisa installed a painted post with numbers to blend in with the new plantings at the entrance. Laurel Bay Gardens gave us 100% service and attention throughout the entire project. I have no complaints and was completely satisfied with the interaction with Lisa and her crew, cost, timeliness, and attention to detail. We were able to achieve a completely new look and feel to a property that has been in the family for over 25 years. The project changed the aspect of the entire landscape and we were able to get outdoor eating area, a garden feel, and easy-to-care-for design that we absolutely love. We asked lots of questions and Lisa made sure that we got exactly what we wanted and that it works with our ability to attend to the garden over time

"I had big plans for my back yard and initially thought I could do most of the work myself, despite not being a fan of yard work. I wanted a new patio with walkway around the house, to remove most of my lawn and replace it with other plantings, and eventually get a cover for my deck. Well, after a couple years of chipping away at it, and then a pandemic, I decided it was finally time to just hire professionals.
In May I met with Phil from GrassRoots to go over my current yard and my vision of what I was looking to do, he offered many great suggestions (including using stamped concrete instead of paver stones for the patio and path). We went back and forth over the design details, taking our time to get things right (after all, I was in no hurry). He let me know that the work would be done in phases, each time squeezing between their other jobs.
He hands me off to Tim who oversaw the work. Starting in mid-October the demo team cleared out the existing lawn to prep in the first day. A week later the team came out and spent two days laying the gravel base and installing the retaining walls for the concrete pour. Two weeks later the concrete team poured and stamped the concrete, and then removed the retaining walls a couple days after that. At that point the softscape team showed up and blew in the dirt, installed the new sod, and got really excited showing me the plantings they picked out as they placed them in their pots around the yard to get my okay with where they had arranged everything. A few days later the carpenters showed up to install the new deck cover, which looks absolutely stunning! After the first rain, I noticed that the runoff from the deck cover was splattering the fresh bark they had installed, so they came out and added some decorative gravel there to catch the rain.
All in all, it was a fantastic experience and I'm so glad I finally decided to go with the professionals on this project. I'm looking forward to the spring when everything starts to grow, and in a few years when the bushes fill in.
"Cutting Edge was great to work with from beginning to end. We went in with a budget and asked them to design the project that fit into that budget. We were looking for something that was kid and dog friendly and low maintenance in the back and presented nice curb appeal in the front. They removed the old yard, numerous bushes and trees and leveled the back yard for the project. Cutting Edge's workers hauled in loads of rock, worked fast and did a great job. They tweaked the plans when ever we presented them with some thoughts as the work progressed. They turfed a play area portion of the back yard and then took the leftover scraps and installed turf areas around "dog peaks" in our fence that allow our dogs to lay on turf as opposed to mud, dirt and grass. A bulk of the landscaping was rock (both big river rock and smaller rock), but they installed a level crushed gravel area for the garbage cans to sit on and look nice. At the completion of the project we liked it so much we asked them to add a similar area for the BBQ to get it out of the walkway. Despite running overtime on the project, they gladly added the BBQ landing at the last second. The front yard is a more traditional grass/plant landscape with some nice "path rocks" that they threw in at the last second. The front view of our house went from slightly embarrassing to looks d*** good! We started the process with Nick coming out to bid the project and give us some ideas on what he thought would look good. His insights gave us a pretty good feeling of what the end result would be and he pretty much nailed it. Justin took over when the work started and was great to work with when we needed to bounce ideas or thoughts off someone. His workers were prompt, courteous and hard working. They cleaned up after leaving each day and left everything perfect when the project was done. I highly recommend Cutting Edge if you have a landscaping project that needs to be done.

"They put in trees like that but did not do the planning. They did a good job and reasonable. I think they charge a little bit more now because they were starting up then. They were very easy to work with and listened to everything I sent. Their prices have gone up recently. They did bring some bark mulch that had some cover seeding and I had to get rid of that. It was about $1000. That was a very ting little thing I was not satisfied with.

"Jeff came out quickly, fixed the leaking roof, and we have not had a problem since, despite the continuing rain! Of note; the roof was damaged in a storm about three years ago, and ever since that time, we have had problems with it leaking. The company who originally did the "fix" came out several times, but were never able to resolve the issue; Jeff fixed it in one day.
