"I have used Pacific Crest Plumbing in the past to install a new water line from the meter to my house. Nick did such a great job that I used him again to install a new water line from the meter to my rental house. I also had a leaking kitchen sink problem that he took care of promptly. I highly recommend his work and will definitely use him again."

"Grumpy's Drains was the only company who could get us on their schedule within a week. A half hour before our appointment time, Keith called to let me know he was on his way and then showed up exactly on time. My husband had tried to snake the drains multiple times with no success. Keith was able to clean the clog out of the tub in less than 10 minutes (water balloon and hair clog). He then went to work on the pedestal sink. That was a much more difficult clog while working in a tight space. Keith was cheerful, funny and kind the entire time. The first clog cost a flat $178 and the additional drain was $88. It was money well spent and I would absolutely call on this company again in the future."

"All work was done well and efficiently. Unprompted, Kent noted a kitchen sink drain deficiency during the proposal phase that explained drain problems we had experienced. Proposal pricing was in line with the lowest submittals. Simpson was pleasant to deal with, punctual, and addressed my proposal questions promptly. Simpson Plumbing was a very good choice for my plumbing projects."

"I chose Charles after meeting with several well-rated contractors.  He was very knowledgeable and fairly priced.  His judgement and advice was thoughtful and prudent.  We had just purchased a condo and were leaving town in a week.  We needed a total kitchen and 2 total bath renovations.  Charles was aware of our timetable and met with us in 48 hours and took us to many suppliers to choose EVERYTHING.  Plumbing, quartz, toilets, appliances, cabinets, hardware, tile.  He took meticulous notes regarding stock numbers and colors.  More importantly we didn't feel rushed or under pressure to make a decision.  If we didn't see an item we liked he would happily take us to another vendor.  Many times it was Charles that would say that the item in question didn't work well for our needs and that we should continue to shop for a better option.

After a day and a half we had chosen everything and left town for 6 months.  Our condo association has many rules regarding padding the elevator, protecting hallway carpet, noise, .... I never received one complaint.  Charles put down protective layers over our wood floors and carpet.  He regularly sent photos of his progress.  There were some issues to be addressed and changed during the build out, he called me and we discussed and resolved them.  He has very good judgement and will not complete a job just to get it done and move on to the next project.  He takes pride in his work and completed our job like it was his own.  We just returned to Portland and the renovation was perfect.  The workmanship was excellent.  He used very good subs.  Every drawer opened and closed as it should, all appliances worked well, the tile work was great.... After I paid Charles his final installment, he even came back to hang a couple of extra towel bars in the bath for us.

This was the best experience with a contractor that anyone could hope for.  Honest, fair, talented, and conscientious.  If there was a grade above an "A" he deserves it.  "

"Advised there would be a hole in the wall that I would need to repair after replacing and installation. Wish I would have known that prior. Not sure if that is my negligence? Had to run to store as did not have all parts to finish. Advised I would get charged for that? Have not seen the bill for it however so maybe they realized it was their issue. All in all it was quick and we have a functional water faucet.

"The booster fan helps the air from the dryer to get out and we used have a long dryer run like 30 feet or more and now it goes straight out of the roof and the dryer couldn’t push the air out by itself.  I had an idea how it had to be done and they said they were able to handle it and they didn’t do many of them.  There was a mix up trying to get the correct model and other than that it went fine.  I had a couple of bids and they were the most reasonable.  They cleaned up the mess.  The quote that I got did not specify the model of the fan and it is rent property.  I was on my way at the property waiting for them to arrive and I got a phone call about the model of the fan and I asked few questions about the model that I thought I was getting and the person who was coming to install said it doesn’t have that feature and it turned out they got a wrong fan from their supplier.  There is no model number on the quote for anyone to verify so I ended up making a trip over there.  It turned out okay. Everything looked good."

"well... the work was done by Ecowater Northwest who is no longer. Reason for the review is that when I stopped hearing from Ecowater Northwest, I found out they were bought out by Culligan. Which is confusing because if you google Ecowater Northwest, you get Wolfer's Heating whose website claims they now own EcoWater Northwest. It seems Culligan got all the old customer files from Ecowater Northwest and Wolfer's got the rights to carry the Ecowater brand going forward. So I called Culligan last year and they found my file from Ecowater Northwest and they said they could support me for replacement filters for the systems that EcoWater Northwest had installed in my home. Great. For a while.
Fast forward to today.. I haven't heard from Culligan since July of this year. The way Ecowater Northwest operated, they would send notices to their customers when it was time to replace filters. I have 4 different filters in my systems and sure hope Culligan is tracking it. The Ecowater RO filters are proprietary and not allowed for sale on the internet - so you are locked in to a Ecowater dealer. Who is it.. Culligan? or Wolfer's? Who's going to continue the maintenance agreement of notifying legacy Ecowater Northwest customers that it's time to replace filters?

"The countertop fits great and looks good. I went to the business, picked out the quartz piece had a written estimate picked out the sink. Discussed that the faucet, sink and countertop would be replaced and the contractor agreed to haul away all of these plus the old cooktop (which he did as a kindness, not usually included). We discussed that since the sink needed to be redone they would also come with their plumber. I also asked about getting the backsplash tile redone and he said he had a tiler he would contact. we set a tentative date, but I never got a follow up contact to confirm a date. I called the office and they said since I hadn't put any money down they didn't set a date. I thought we had. This put the start date out even further and the actual piece of quartz I had picked was gone so then they had to reorder. When I went in to pay half the estimate was more than originally stated. This misunderstanding was finally corrected. The day came to install the counter and that was all they came prepared to do. No tiler, no plumber. The counter top is beautifully done but if I had this to do over again, I would arrange it differently and get my own crew together, that way I could count on getting everything done in a timely manner. I am still waiting on the backsplash to get done because I had to contract with someone I found myself and of course the time delay was a month out."

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

Try to tighten the clevis crew and adjust the lift rod if your sink stopper won’t stay up. Sometimes your screws became too loose over time, and as a result, there wasn’t enough resistance to keep the sink stopper up. If a damaged lift rod is the cause of the problem, you will need to replace it with a new rod.

Yes, many services offer faucet replacement as part of the installation or repair.

The best option is to alter the plumbing. Moving and centering the drain pipe behind the sink usually does the trick and creates the sleek, minimalist look that pedestal sinks offer. If you don’t want to do any plumbing work, there are a few decorating hacks:

  • Painting the pipes

  • Placing shelves, plants, or baskets in front of the pipes

  • Adding a sink skirt

The best material to use will depend on your budget and style goals. Fireclay is a great choice but is expensive and heavy. Stainless steel is less expensive and more durable, but lacks the wow factor a clay sink might. Copper is very expensive but lasts a long time and has a striking appearance. Those looking for an industrial look can go with concrete, or those looking for a classic design might choose porcelain.

Pedestal sinks are bolted or screwed into the floor and the wall to prevent it from moving out of place. You may have to change or add to the bathroom flooring when installing a pedestal sink if the flooring was laid around the previous sink, not under it.
