"Many in our neighborhood have used Myers and everyone was pleased. I liked they were diligent and explained what needed to be done with my crimson king when they found a stress fracture. They aim to save trees and not cut them down."

"George and his crew were on time and did a great job. When they left the yard looked the same as it was when they got there. They were about 70 feet tall and crew a great job. Would hire them again in a heartbeat and will again this fall for my Bradford tree in front yard."

"Highly recommend 1st Choice! We had two trees removed and some trimming done on some others. The pricing is fair and they knocked the job out quickly! I am very happy with the work and will be using them again in the future."

"Tree Houdini (Brandon) is the real deal as not only can he make your tree problem disappear but he is an artist doing it. Not only is Brandon thorough & safe but he treats your property as his own. Brandon not only was resonably priced but prioritized my tree removable in an expedite manner. Brandon treated my tree removal and tree trimming job with the expertise of an arborist. definitely would recommend his services for any tree removal/trimming projects."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

When hiring for tree service in Springfield, prioritize companies with ISA-certified arborists and comprehensive liability insurance, as recommended by the Springfield City Planning Department. Ask about their experience with local tree species and storm-damaged trees, and request recent references. Ensure they follow Springfield's tree removal regulations and provide a written contract outlining cleanup, tree trimming, and emergency response policies for added peace of mind.

Helpful?

In Springfield, common mistakes include attempting DIY tree removal near power lines, neglecting to obtain required permits, and hiring uninsured or unlicensed contractors. Many overlook the best timing for tree trimming or fail to protect root zones during landscaping. According to the Springfield City Code, always verify credentials and references, and ensure your contractor understands local regulations to prevent property damage and legal issues.

Helpful?

In Springfield, a tree removal permit is often required for protected or heritage trees, especially in regulated zones, according to the Springfield City Code. Work near public sidewalks or streets may need a right-of-way permit, and utility line clearance must be coordinated with the local utility company. Always consult the Springfield City Planning Department before starting any tree service to confirm all permit requirements.

Helpful?

For tree service in Springfield, ensure your contractor follows OSHA safety standards, uses proper personal protective equipment, and is trained for electrical hazard awareness. The Springfield Department of Public Works advises keeping all bystanders, children, and pets away from the work area. Confirm the company's insurance coverage and ask about their safety protocols for tree removal and stump grinding to help minimize risks on your property.

Helpful?

In Springfield, unexpected costs during tree service can include permit application fees, additional charges for stump grinding, debris removal, and right-of-way access. If trees are near utility lines, coordination with the local utility company may be necessary. Homeowners should also ask about fees for emergency tree removal, property restoration, and specialized equipment to avoid surprises, as noted by the Springfield City Planning Department.
