"Two "recommended" companies were contacted before ArborTech. One responded to an email through their website but then would not schedule an estimate. The second came out and looked at the job, said they would send an estimate that night and never did, then would not reply. David came out the night I put an inquiry on Angi. He told me what needed done, gave me an estimate and told me he wanted the job. This involved some 70ft cherry trees overhanging or leaning at my house which were a grave concern. They did removal and trim backs on all the trees that needed it; and opened up my entire backyard. They also cleaned everything up neatly. I would highly recommend Arbor Tech and not hesitate to call them again."

"Tree was near a powerline and great care was taken to avoid. Cleanup was efficient and wood cut into logs and stacked. Very reasonable rate. We were so pleased, we gave a tip with payment. Would definitely recommend!"

"Sean Carey and his crew did an excellent job! They did what they could to save a tree that was hit by lightning..They trimmed off dead branches and left the ones that were viable..They even inserted stakes in the ground to give the tree nutrients..After they were finished they picked up all the sticks and debris ..I was very satisfied..it was a job well done..All the men were kind and respectful..I would hire them again in a heartbeat..Given the fact that I am an old woman living on social security, they gave me a really good deal that I could afford. So if you are looking for a Great tree service you must hire this one..!!!!"

"Deon and his crew were hard workers and did a great job. I hired Grind away to remove some tree stumps and a pile of brush, plus they trimmed some trees and treated them plus filled in the stump area with top soil and grass seed. I am very impressed with the quality of their work. Deon was so respectful and walked me around yard to see all he did and make sure i was satisfied. I would definitely use them again and also recommend them to others. Thank you for your great service."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

While the fastest way to kill a tree is to simply cut it down, there are several other methods to choose from. You should hire a professional tree removal service to cut down a tree to ensure your personal and property safety. Some slower but effective options include treating or grinding the tree stump or using a basal bark treatment.

Yes, you should trim the lower branches of your maple tree for safety. Trimming maple trees as they grow helps lift the crown and canopy and trains it to grow straight up. A good rule of thumb is to prune enough branches to leave 6 feet of clearance under the tree.

The safest way to cut down a tree is to make sure you’re completely prepared and have done all the necessary safety checks, including double-checking your equipment is in good working order, you have plenty of clearance to fell the tree, you’re wearing all the safety gear, and you have a partner to help you (who should also be wearing safety gear).

In most cases, leaving tree roots underground is not a problem if the stump has been removed or ground below the soil. However, some larger roots may decompose, leaving dents in your soil. Additionally, some aggressive trees, including willows, oaks, elms, maples, and poplars may grow back from roots. Large aggressive trees with established root systems are more likely to grow back.

In general, trees should be planted no closer than 15 to 20 feet from your foundation. For larger trees with far-reaching roots like maples, oaks, or poplars, a good guide is to plant as many feet from your home as the tree’s height is expected to reach at maturity. Some trees, like elms and willows, should only be planted far from where their roots may encounter sewer or water lines.
