"We purchased a house in 2012 with a current termite contract in place with Orkin. We called and took the contract over and everything was transferred to our names from the previous owners. We were advised they come once a year to do an inspection inside the house and once a year to check our termite bait stations around the perimeter of the house. I didn’t know any better at the time so I thought this was sufficient. I’ve since found out it’s terribly inadequate, especially given that our bait stations actually show evidence of activity. Up until 2016 they would call us when it was time for our inspections/or bait station monitoring. I didn’t have to remember. They automatically did it. Spring of 2016 came along and no one called. I called and was advised someone would call me back to schedule it. Never heard from anyone. I had to call 5+ times and still was never called back. I explained each time I wanted a manager to call me. He never called. Finally I contacted the 800 number because I wanted to use a different branch (Latham, NY is who we were contracted with). It was at that point I was finally put in contact with the district manager. She called me and apologized for everything. (At this point 4 months has passed). She offered to get everything taken care of and have someone come within a week to inspect. She also offered $50 off our renewal. I took her up on the offer mainly because we didn’t want to spend the hundreds of dollars it would have been to start up with a new company. I paid our renewal fee less the $50 discount she offered and I thought we were ok. Fast forward to spring 2017 and they once again failed to call for the inspection. I called and was advised the account was canceled for non payment. I got the run around to get everything straightened out after explaining I didn’t owe $50 because it was a courtesy discount. It took a few weeks to get the account reactivated and again I thought things were ok. In spring of 2018 I called to have a bait station fixed (it was heaved up out of the ground from the harsh winter we had). I was advised my account was canceled. I explained I never received the bill last fall (and admittedly I should have realized I didn’t receive it. I didn’t and it just never occurred to me it was missed.) I don’t believe any bill was ever mailed to me last fall because every year they mail many (at least 3 statements) prior to the balance being due. I never received even ONE of those. (I should also note I had asked for auto debit on our account but was told that was not an option.) I spoke with Carla in the Latham office and told she was going to look into my account and get back to me on how to rectify things. I never heard back. We went with another pest company and the only thing I regret was not leaving Orkin earlier. Their prices might be cheaper but you get what you pay for. Save yourself the headache and find another company."

Pest Control questions, answered by experts
No, skunks are not considered aggressive and are typically very gentle, mild-mannered creatures. However, when they’re provoked, they do emit their potent spray as a defense mechanism. Skunks are also useful creatures to have near your property since they eat insects and will likely leave you and your pets alone unless they’re startled.
Humans attract fleas with their body heat, the carbon dioxide (CO2) they exhale, body odors, and movement. Fleas love hiding in warm, dark places like hair and scalps, armpits, and groin areas. Fleas prefer to feed on pets and wildlife, but they do bite humans when other warm-blooded mammals aren’t available.
Luckily, skunks aren’t challenging to get rid of. You can try to remove them slowly by filling their den entryway loosely with newspaper. Many skunks notice their den is in jeopardy and take off on their own. You can also try making a homemade spray of jalapeno pepper, yellow onion, and cayenne pepper—believe it or not, skunks are sensitive to these smells, so if you spray this around the den or in hard-to-reach places around your property, most skunks will take the hint and leave.
While it may seem counterintuitive to continue sleeping in a room with bed bugs, it’s the best option to avoid spreading the infestation to other rooms, homes, or surfaces. In the nights before your bed bug removal professional arrives, continue sleeping in the same bed, but wear as much protective clothing as possible, such as long pants, long socks, and long-sleeve shirts. That way, you’ll limit the number of bites during the night.
Our comprehensive approach includes inspection, treatment with safe and effective methods, and follow-up to ensure elimination.
