"Mario was very knowledgeable. I thought he needed to start inside at the back of the house, but he determined that the clog was between the front of the house and the main in the street. He opened the clean out in the front of the house and snaked until he got through to the street. I was pleased that he persevered and unclogged the drain. I would call him first when I need plumbing services. Thank you Mario!"

"I have been a builder for 38 years and used many plumbers. Randy’s plumbing service was top-notch. They were timely per our schedule. They passed inspections immediately. The work was done professionally and according to building codes. He got everything done in just a few days for the underground plumbing for prior to slab work and all the yard lines. Thank you Randy, I really appreciate you and your workers! I have hired Randy’s plumbing service to do underground plumbing, top out and finish plumbing for a new custom home, so the complete plumbing job."

"Over the past 27 years we have hired Summersweet Landscaping four times.  They had been in business for a year and we hired them for a complete front and backyard installation.  At that location, a Homeowners Association was involved with the plans of the yard and everything went well during the planning process and completion of the project.  For this project, plans had to be submitted to the Homeowners Association and approved by their board.  All of this was done in a timely manner by Summersweet and completed.  Several years later we moved and they installed a five foot curved rock border with edging and a large river rock drain so the water would drain away from the house.  We had a Southwestern house and when it rains it comes pouring off the house quickly.  Years later at this house we decided to add more rock/edging border and another big river rock drain near the street.  For this job, they went above and beyond and filled in all of the bare spots where we needed rock in other parts of the yard.   At our current location, we are changing the rock to a different style and trimming some large tree roots that are above ground.    We continue to hire Summersweet for our landscaping needs because we have always been pleased with the work they have done in the past.   The price is fair, jobs are completed as discussed on the estimate, changes can be made easily, good ideas are proposed for what you need, and its great to deal directly with the owner.   "

"This is the second review I have written, the first being when the job was almost completed last summer. I had the first one pulled from the site after Jerome objected to my comments. Since I needed him to address some issues I had with the job, I felt it was the best thing to do. The job was completed, but it is not the job I envisioned when I hired this company to do the work. A year later, I have had to have some of the concrete repaired by Jerome after a stake was buried in the concrete and then became exposed through erosion of the concrete. There are cracks all over the driveway, in the ramp they poured to connect two elevations of concrete, and water pools rather than drains off the patio after rain or the sprinklers come on. I had to replace 2 plants myself which died in the first month. Any questions or concerns I had were addressed only after letting me know how difficult a customer I had been. There were several times I wished I had taped our conversations so I would have a complete record of what I was promised, what was delivered, and the problems I encountered.
The first mistake I made was not getting a detailed landscape plan so there was no question about what the job would encompass. Second, I should have done more research on best practices for pouring driveways instead of relying on Jerome's assurance that they met industry standards. (Several neighbors have had similar work done with no major cracking a year later.) Finally, I would have probably researched companies a little deeper rather than relying on a handful of positive reviews.

French Drains questions, answered by experts

You should inspect and clean your French drain at least once per year to keep it in good working order. Regular maintenance can help identify clogs, buildup, and damage before they become bigger problems, which increases the lifespan of your drain. The frequency with which a drain clogs can depend on factors like the amount of debris, the quality of the installation, and the type of filter used. If your drain accumulates a lot of sediment, it may require more frequent cleaning. It's also a good practice to check the access and exit points after heavy storms. If you notice reduced drainage or any signs of a clog, clean the drain as soon as possible.

Snakes can occasionally enter homes through shower drains, although it’s quite rare. This can happen when they follow sewer pipes or accidentally find their way into plumbing systems. To minimize the risk, consider installing drain covers or stoppers on your shower drains. Always keep drains closed when they’re not in use, especially in areas where snakes are known to be active.

An active cleaning agent and a drain snake is the best way to clean a main sewer line. You can purchase a regular or enzyme drain cleaner or make a DIY drain cleaner with baking soda. Use your chosen solution at least once a month or as needed to keep your sewer line clear.

You should flush your AC drain line once every three months to keep it clear of debris and buildup. Keeping your AC drain line clean prevents clogs, backups, mold growth, and extra wear on your AC unit. If you live in a humid area or have several furry pets, up your cleaning schedule to once a month.

A good option for opening up and cleaning a sink drain is to use a ¼ cup of baking soda and 1 cup of white vinegar, along with a rubber stopper to cover the drain while those materials work their magic. After about 15 minutes, you can flush the drain with hot water. In many cases, these materials can scrub out minor clogs and get the drain working properly again. If the issue persists, call in a plumber near you to get the problem permanently fixed.
