"Guillermo responded promptly to my query.  We discussed the project.  He was open to my suggestions.  The team arrived on schedule on four occasions to pour a base, build the block section,  set the top, and then place the oven.  The work team was very conscientious and considerate.

"It's a pretty decent system, I think. They send you the pieces and you install them yourself, which is pretty easy. The only real problem I have is that one sensor is too far away from the panel...or there's some interference, and they haven't been able to fix that. It's an interior door, so it's not the end of the world, just a little annoying. Their customer service is pretty good though. Nice, smart customer service people on the other end, very polite and helpful."

"The city dinged just about everybody on our street for sidewalk issues. I had Mountainside replace about 10' of sidewalk and more importantly some deteriorated concrete steps on the side of the house. They showed up on time and worked quickly, kept me appraised of some minor changes and were extremely professional. On the side steps they had to remove and replace the hand rails, which involved cutting & welding. They also had to color match the stucco. This was the 1st time I had used them and it was one of the best results for a job of this type I have had."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Schedule gas log service immediately if you smell gas, as older Santa Fe adobe walls mask slow leaks. Look for visible black soot deposits on the logs, which indicate altitude-related combustion issues. Request a maintenance visit if you experience delayed ignition or irregular flames after summer dormancy. High spring winds force debris into exterior vents, so book an inspection if your system back-drafts or struggles to stay lit.

Helpful?

For ongoing fireplace service, keep high-altitude rated chimney sealants that withstand extreme high-desert temperature swings. If you have a traditional adobe fireplace, store compatible earthen or lime-based refractory patching compound for minor crack repairs. You must also keep a metal ash container with a tight-fitting lid to safely dispose of hot pinon ash, and maintain a replacement chimney cap with a spark arrestor to meet Santa Fe fire codes.

Helpful?

Combining gas log service with an annual heating system inspection saves time before the long winter begins. Local professionals bundle fireplace, furnace, and water heater maintenance into a single visit. If you live in a historic adobe home, ask your technician to inspect the chimney liner simultaneously. Align this work with a broader NM weatherization audit to maximize your home's energy efficiency and qualify for available appliance rebates.

Helpful?

Combining fireplace service with other home upgrades is a smart strategy. Coordinate damper sealing with a broader NM weatherization audit to maximize your home's energy efficiency. If you are repairing exterior adobe or stucco, bundle this with chimney crown repointing to save time. You should also schedule waterproofing and roof flashing repairs together in the spring to prepare your Santa Fe home for the heavy summer monsoons.

Helpful?

To ensure safety during gas log service, always hire a licensed contractor to inspect your automatic safety shutoff valves. Because Santa Fe sits at a high altitude, gas logs burn less efficiently and produce more carbon monoxide. Install carbon monoxide detectors in your home to monitor air quality. Protect children and pets from severe burns by placing a sturdy hearth gate around the hot glass front of your fireplace.
