"The concrete driveway at my home was about 40 years old and had been breaking up for the last decade or so. I knew I had to replace it but I was concerned that doing so would damage the sewer and gas lines that run under the driveway. Then I noticed that Mountain Side was doing some of my neighbors drives so I spoke to them about my concerns. They assured me they could do the work without disturbing the underground utilities. They removed the old concrete WITHOUT using a jackhammer. Safer on the utilities and quieter. I then stress tested my sewer line by filling 2 bath tubs and started them draining them, at the same time I flushed 3 toilets and turned on every faucet in the house. No backup. They then put down some rebar (the old drive did not have rebar) and poured the new drive the next day. I now have a new attractive driveway that my granddaughters can use as a canvas for their chalk art. COST: I checked several other contractors and Mountain Side was on the low side of the average. WORKMANSHIP: Excellent Practically a work of art. CREW: Professional and courteous. They knew what they were supposed to do and did it. NEATNESS: Excellent All construction debris was removed and landscaping on the side of the drive replaced neatly. OVERALL IMPRESSION: Very pleased with the outcome."

"Walter and his crew did an excellent job completely relandscaping my yard from the ground up. They ground a stump, did the grading, installed retaining walls and underground drainage, installed sod, planted all kinds plants, and laid boulders, gravel and pavers. They also built two giant brick walls that collectively stretched about half an acre. They were professional, respectful, responsive, kind and they showed up when they said they would. A couple times mistakes were made because of me and they corrected it and didn’t charge me. Overall, we received a great value for the price we paid and we highly recommend their services."

Customers say: True professional

"This went fantastic. They gave two options with their estimate/proposal. We worked together on a date for the project. They arrived early and completed the project timely and completely and cleaned up everything when finished. Plus, they gave we the instruction on managing the driveway through the curing phase and all went really well. Very satisfied with their work."

"A professional job! An older driveway gate was dragging. Now a new, better gate post holds the gate. The pro, Wyatt Allen, spent extra time adjusting the gate controller so it opens and closes properly."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

In Santa Fe, driveways facing north or shaded by trees often experience more moisture retention, leading to faster deterioration. Areas with poor drainage or those adjacent to adobe walls and clay soils are also prone to damage. Surfaces exposed to direct sun, particularly on the south and west sides, can develop cracks and fading due to UV and temperature extremes.

Helpful?

After asphalt paving in Santa Fe, keep vehicles off the new surface for at least 48 hours to allow proper curing. Inspect the edges for any signs of crumbling, especially before monsoon rains. Each spring, check for cracks caused by winter freeze-thaw cycles, and apply sealcoating every few years to protect against intense sun and UV exposure unique to the region.

Helpful?

Before starting asphalt paving in Santa Fe, confirm if your property is in a historic district, as extra approvals may be needed. Schedule work during the dry season, typically May through October, to avoid weather delays. Test your soil for stability, assess drainage patterns, and mark underground utilities. Choosing a contractor experienced with Santa Fe’s climate and soil conditions is essential for long-lasting results.

Helpful?

In Santa Fe, immediate attention is needed for potholes, drainage failures, or cracks wider than half an inch, as these worsen quickly with local weather. Minor cracks or surface fading can be monitored and addressed with routine driveway maintenance. Plan major asphalt paving before winter or the rainy season to avoid accelerated deterioration from freeze-thaw cycles and heavy rainfall.

Helpful?

In Santa Fe, if you notice deep alligator cracks, uneven settling, or water pooling after rain, these are signs that full asphalt paving work is needed. Isolated small cracks or minor surface fading usually call for asphalt repair or driveway maintenance like sealing. Address issues before freeze-thaw cycles or the monsoon season to prevent further damage and more extensive repairs.
