This was our first time using Santa Fe Electric. I saw the positive reviews on Angie's List, and also checked their NM Contractor's License with the State (valid), and their rating on the BBB (A+).
We weren't disappointed - Peter & Joe were great! They first tried to help me diagnose & fix the problem over the phone (during off hours) at no charge. We did wind up needing in-person assistance the next day, and Peter told me approximately when he would be available. Then he called when he was heading over - great communication!
Peter and Joe were very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. They determined that the overhead garage door outlet was tripped from a hidden GFI outlet in the garage. They verified that the GFI outlets in the bathroom were working properly, and replaced an exterior patio GFI outlet. He also gave us some other safety recommendations.
It is wonderful to find a great, honest, fair, and reputable contractor. We would use Santa Fe Electric again. Thanks for your help, Peter & Joe!
I obtained a homeowners' building permit for the installation of a new gas burning fireplace. I contacted Santa Fe Electric to wire the fireplace. I previously had them install a new electrical receptacle in a walk-in closet and I was very pleased with the result. The contractor arrived and wired the fireplace on October 21, 2015 and all seemed well and I was very pleased with the result. I paid the sum of $362.10 for labor, materials, and tax.
Shortly thereafter, I contacted the building permit authority to request an inspection. I was informed by the city inspector that the electrician was required to obtain a permit and could not perform the requested services under my permit. When the inspector asked who my electrician was, I informed him and he then contacted the contractor directly.
Shortly after the building inspector contacted the contractor, the contractor contacted me and told me that I should have told him I would be requesting an inspection (despite my permit being posted on the street). He told me that he would request a permit, but that he would have to return to the work site and re-wire the fireplace. Apparently, the manner in which he wired the fireplace was not going to pass inspection because it was not code-compliant.
The contractor returned the following week and re-wired the fireplace which passed inspection without any concerns being noted. The contractor then charged me an additional $135.40 for the work involved in getting the fireplace ready for inspection and obtaining a permit.
I have rated this contractor poorly primarily because all work should be code-compliant whether or not it is subject to inspection.
