"Brad and Jen arrived early and went straight to work. Installed a water softener, a sediment filter, a carbon filter, and a uv filter with no problems with their work at all in a very reasonable amount of time. I felt they took very good care of me and at a very reasonable price, and will be returning on a regular basis to add salt and change filters for me. Love these two!"

"US Water Consultants were a pleasure to work with. They have a quote fast, communicated well, provided education, were honest, and the job was successfully complete and our radon air mitigation issue was solved. Would do business with again!"

"Brian responded promptly, was professional and courteous. He came right away to do an assessment and returned within a few days to install a new water softener system. He presented me with a lower cost option that could have been done same day but I chose to replace a 17 year old system with a new system that is more accurate (better monitors water use) and less costly to operate because it uses less salt. He performed several preventative maintenance updates: re-piped and plumbed in a new particulate cartridge, cleaned the screen on the radon system and replaced the solenoids, all within the cost of what other companies quoted for only the water softener replacement. The last technician that serviced our water systems (Radon & RO) rushed through the job and left them in worse shape than they were before he "serviced" them. Brian recognized the issues and fixed them. I will now be using H20inthe603 for all of my water treatment service. Thank you Brian for a job well done!"

"We hired Richard to come service our water neutralizer and he was here the next day! While working on the neutralizer he tested our water and recommended a water softener. He was great at explaining why he recommended it and the benefits it would bring! After quoting the job we hired him to install and he did amazing work! Even staying late one day to make sure it was working properly and we didn’t have any questions! Would recommended him over and over again!!"

"I didn't like the fact I was going to be charged a fee to have them come to my home to see what I needed. I would recoup the fee if I hired them, but if I didn't, I lost over $80. I went with a company that provided a quote based on my water analysis and did not charge me any upfront fee."

"I had a great experience with this plumber! He arrived right on time and was very professional and friendly from the start. I had a leak in the plumbing in the wall between the bathroom and the bedroom and he took the time to explain exactly was going on. He even went under the house (in the cold and dark) to inspect the issue further and took pictures so I could clearly see the problem myself. He explained the repair in a way that was easy to understand and fixed the leak quickly ad professionally. I really appreciated his honestly, communication and the quality of his work. Everything is working perfectly now! I definitely would recommend him and would happily call and refer him if I ever need a plumber's help!!"

"George and his team did an excellent job with the install. I received quotes that were much higher for the same project and similar systems. As busy as George was he always answered my questions leading up to the install and was there right when he said he would be. George even helped me plumb a water line to my refrigerator and didn't charge me for the material he used! I have already recommended Absolute Water Systems to a friend and will certainly be using them for any future projects."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Yes, a water softener can remove scale deposits. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, after you add a water softener to your home, “gradually the softer water will dissolve limescale scale deposits and remove the problem entirely.” Installing a water softener—or water descaler—will also help prevent new scale deposits from forming.

Hard water doesn’t hurt, but it might feel more abrasive, especially if you have sensitive skin. It’s also about how your skin feels after bathing. You might feel as though you have a sticky film over your body because you do—it’s all that soapy residue left behind because the hard water can’t rinse it off completely.

It’s unlikely that hard water on its own could cause substantial hair loss or damage, though it’s true that bathing in hard water can cause your scalp to feel itchy or flaky and might dull your hair’s natural shine. Using high-quality shampoo and conditioner or buying a whole-home water softener can decrease these issues.

The average cost to install a water softener, including the system and labor, is approximately $1,500. However, the total price can range widely from $600 to $6,000. For some complete systems, the cost may be between $800 and $2,500. Labor for the installation typically costs between $150 and $1,000.

The final price is influenced by several factors, including:

  • System type, capacity, and complexity

  • Home size and household water demands

  • Water hardness levels

  • Accessibility of the installation site and the extent of plumbing work required

  • Whether new electrical work is needed

  • The professional hired and any local permit costs

The main difference between a water softener and a water filter is what they remove from the water. A water softener is specifically designed to remove hard minerals, while a filter removes a wider range of contaminants above a certain size, such as bacteria and other impurities. If your primary goal is to remove minerals, a softener is the best choice. If you want to remove various contaminants for safety or taste, a filter is more suitable. Filters are also typically less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply's specific issues, you may need to install both systems for comprehensive treatment.
