"We purchased our house back in late April 2021. During the inspection process, we found a leak above the garage. Southern New Hampshire Plumbing and Heating was hired to fix the leak. Eric from Southern New Hampshire Plumbing and Heating came out on April 23rd 2021 to fix the leak above our garage. Turns out there was a water pipe that was punctured by contractors from when they nailed in baseboards in the laundry room above our garage. Fixing this required cutting a hole in the wall to get to the punctured pipe. When Eric fixed the pipe, we believed the problem was fixed, however now, 3 months later, we are noticing there is leaking again in the exact same spot. We called the company, as they claim they warranty their work for 12 months, and they are refusing to fix their work because “the property was technically sold after the work was done”. Even though the work was done FOR THE SALE, as PART OF THE TERMS OF THE PURCHASE AND SALE ON THE HOUSE. PLEASE take caution before hiring this company. Clearly their work doesn’t hold up, and they don’t honor their work like they claim to."

Whether we are installing a new system or servicing an existing unit, you can count on our skilled technicians and professional warranties.

"Excel Mechanical installed a gas furnace, evaporator coil and heat pump on 06/18/2025. The installers were professional and completed the project in one day. Our contract stated that the installer Excel Mechanical would file the necessary documentation in order for us to receive a rebate of $4635.42 from Mass Save for the heat pump. Since the installation in June multiple phone calls and texts to manager Josh Caplan and office staff went unanswered regarding the status of the Mass Save rebate. As of today 10/12/2025 the rebate form with Mass Save has not been completed by Excel Mechanical. I would file the rebate myself but Excel Mechanical did not supply me with the proper documents to do so. It has been very frustrating and time consuming trying to communicate with Excel Mechanical regarding this Mass Save rebate."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

While it depends on how complicated the unit and installation is, it takes two to four hours to install a water softener unit, on average. It might take longer if pipes need to be replaced. You should make sure the installation area is clear of any objects that might get in the way before you begin.

It depends on the type of surface. For instance, if you’re trying to get rid of hard water deposits on glass, you can spray vinegar onto the surface and wipe it off with a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. However, if the deposits are on granite or natural stone, it’s better to use baking soda and water rather than vinegar or other acidic cleaners.

Drinking hard water is not known to have any negative health impacts. Using hard water can lead to dry skin and hair, and the minerals in hard water can build up in pipes, faucets, and appliances. Hard water is more of a threat to your plumbing than it is to your health.

Most experts agree there’s not much difference health-wise between hard water versus soft water. That said, hard water is more likely to cause skin dryness and issues that go along with it, like an itchy or flaky scalp. Hard water can also decrease the life span of your household appliances and make it more difficult for soap to do its job.

Just as hard water can wreak havoc on your skin by drying it out, it’s also not great for your hair. That’s because hard water won’t rinse out shampoo and conditioner as effectively as soft water can. All that product buildup isn’t good news for your hair, which can look dull and limp over time with hard water.
