"We "upgraded" to a "comfort-level" toilet with matching pedestal sink in our half bath. Installation went perfectly smoothly, and we are very happy with our"new" bathroom. (and the tall toilet makes a significant difference!)"

"Fabulous products, service, knowledge & skills! We had a walk-in bathtub removed and replaced along with 96" worth of ugly tile on walls. Our new 2nd bath is beautiful. We chose white tub & white subway tiles and polished nickel fixtures. The team did a fabulous job replumbing (they found problems with old plumbing and fixed it properly), removed the beastly tub without splitting in two parts, meticulously placed plumbing, tile backs, and tub in and installed new fixtures. They jumped through hoops to locate polished nickel products to include the shower rod. We also had them finish the plumbing in our unfinished 3rd bathroom and the install a 32" corner shower. Whew...it's a small bathroom so we talked with the crew chief doing the work (he's SOOOOO knowledgeable and just a great guy!) and he gave us suggestions regarding sink and toilet. It's a tiny bath so we greatly appreciated Westshore stepping up and going above and beyond to do the work in our home. We get rave reviews on how well these bathrooms look and it shows! Just beautiful! Price was right on point considering they went above and beyond and followed up."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Updating your plumbing significantly boosts resale appeal in the competitive NC housing market. Buyers and inspectors specifically look for dry, well-maintained crawl spaces and modern water heaters. Documented, permitted upgrades prove your system meets local codes. Homes connected to the municipal sewer system also carry a strong resale premium over properties relying on older septic systems in the Smithfield area.

Helpful?

Completing plumbing projects offers immediate freeze protection for your pipes during cold Smithfield winters. Prompt repairs also prevent mold growth caused by high summer humidity. Over the long term, updating older galvanized pipes improves your water quality and protects your crawl space from chronic moisture damage. Proper maintenance ensures your home withstands regional climate shifts and prevents major structural issues across North Carolina.

Helpful?

Start by locating your main water shutoff valve, often found in the crawl space or near the street meter. During cold Smithfield winters, open cabinet doors and allow faucets to drip to prevent frozen pipes. You should use a hand-operated snake for slow drains instead of harsh chemicals that damage older pipes. Always hire a licensed professional for extensive plumbing repairs in North Carolina.

Helpful?

Discolored water indicates active internal corrosion in older galvanized pipes. Soft spots on your floors point to hidden leaks rotting the subfloor above your crawl space. Multiple slow drains and gurgling toilets signal serious tree root blockages in your main sewer line. If you notice unexpected water bill spikes or visible moisture under your Smithfield home, contact a local professional for a plumbing inspection.

Helpful?

Cosmetic plumbing updates like swapping a showerhead rarely require permits. However, functional projects involving new drain lines, water heaters, or sewer work mandate proper permits and inspections. In older Smithfield homes, simple cosmetic fixture replacements frequently expose hidden functional problems like corroded shutoff valves. Functional repairs also require extensive crawl space access to address the unique moisture challenges found throughout North Carolina.
