"Everything went according to plan. Crawlspace insulation was replaced and closed space was sealed up. A air inducer was also installed. The environment is totally different down there now and is much closer to the temperature of the house. I kept my vapor barrier the same."

"Insulation Commandos insulated my garage drywall, and I had a great experience working with them. Tony was especially helpful in explaining the available options and recommending the solution that best fit my garage and specific needs. "This company is a top notch operation. From the moment they arrived at my house for our first meeting to discuss my repair needs to their finished project completion they went above and beyond to fix and clean up what a previous company did not do properly. Their employees are hard working and very professional. The work they completed under my house of cleaning mold from under the crawl space was more than stellar, which the previous company that started left me in a mess and never completed. They installed insulation and a beautiful floor barrier. Going above and beyond was installing a dehumidifier under house for one month to ensure absolute drying of floor joist and entire area. they did this as an added precaution for me the customer which shows true customer service and what a 5 star company is all about. I cannot say enough good things about this company and Tim Koons who represents it with wisdom of the business and a professionalism that adds trust and confidence to the customer. Nancy Hill, Clayton , NC My second review for this company also goes above and beyond what any other company has offered or done for me , the customer. They installed a dehumidifier under my house for several months free of charge to insure under my house was completely dried out to ensure new insulation and mold treatment they did would not be compromised in any way due to moisture and cold weather. This company is a top notch company that puts the customer as there number one priority. They took care of all my needs and went above and beyond for me. I would highly recommend them to family and friends."

"Jimmie was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Of the estimates and recommendations I received for mold remediation in my crawlspace, I thought Jimmie's approach seemed the most logical and thorough. Pricing was fair, and the service was prompt with regular communication from him and his team about progress and next steps. He even performed an extra preventative measure that wasn't included in the estimate. I highly recommend this company."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

For Raleigh’s humid climate, blown-in fiberglass or cellulose with R-38 to R-49 ratings are excellent for attics, helping to boost energy efficiency. Spray foam works well in crawl spaces or basements for air sealing, while rigid foam boards with vapor barriers help manage moisture. Choosing mold-resistant and fire-resistant materials, along with proper vapor barriers, is essential to protect your home and maintain long-term comfort.

Helpful?

If your Raleigh home has high energy bills, inconsistent room temperatures, or drafts near windows and doors, it’s likely a good candidate for insulation service projects. Homes in neighborhoods like Five Points or Oakwood—especially those built before 1980—often lack modern insulation. Feeling cold or hot walls, or noticing ice dams in winter, are strong signs that an insulation upgrade can improve your home comfort and energy efficiency.

Helpful?

In Raleigh, most insulation service projects take between one and three days, depending on your home’s size and the specific areas being insulated. Attic or crawl space insulation is typically completed within a day or two, while wall insulation—especially if drywall removal is necessary—may extend up to five days. Factors like weather, accessibility, and contractor scheduling can also influence the overall project timeline.

Helpful?

In Raleigh, insulation service projects can reveal hidden costs such as the need for air sealing, mold remediation, or electrical upgrades, especially in older homes. Structural repairs or improving ventilation may also become necessary. If your home was built before 1980, addressing potential asbestos or lead is important. Permit fees for larger projects can add to expenses, so it’s wise to anticipate these possibilities before starting.

Helpful?

Combining insulation service with upgrades like HVAC improvements, air sealing, or roofing work in Raleigh can maximize energy efficiency and home comfort while saving on labor costs. Scheduling multiple projects together often streamlines the process. Fall and early spring are ideal times for these upgrades, and you may qualify for local rebates or federal tax credits, further increasing your return on investment.
