"Very Professional job. Adding insulation to the walls of our home has dropped our energy bills. Would absolutely tell somebody else to have this done especially if you have an older home."

"Everything went according to plan. Crawlspace insulation was replaced and closed space was sealed up. A air inducer was also installed. The environment is totally different down there now and is much closer to the temperature of the house. I kept my vapor barrier the same."

"Project went very well from quote through completion. Price was very competitive. Team was prompt, hard working, and neat. They made sure we were able to review the finished project areas before signing off on their work. All (sales, admin and install crews) were professional, polite and respectful of us and our property. We hope to see energy savings as a result of bringing the insulation levels up to recommended standards. Thank you EcoMaster!"

"Absolutely wonderful. After I was quoted $10,000 to get rid of the mold in my crawl space I called East Coast Crawl Space for a second opinion. The owner was able to come out and take a look within two days. The owner was very honest and straight forward and quoted me a MUCH MORE reasonable and fair price. His team hauled away and replaced the insulation and removed all mold. I am very please with this work done and the professionalism and will be using them again in the future!"

"Entire experience was excellent!  We called Pat on Monday morning and he met us Tuesday morning to evaluate our problem / situation.  He called Tuesday afternoon to walk through the assessment and cost.  Wednesday morning his team was on site.  They were very courteous and clean.  All the work was completed by Thursday and I met with Pat's HVAC manager to review all that he did.  He then went back under the house to "clean up some things he saw that he didn't like" that a previous contractor had done years earlier - at no charge!!  The entire process went very smoothly and we could not be happier with the process.  Pat runs an honest, diligent operation where he doesn't try to sell you something you don't need and gives you options on the things you do need.  I would recommend Integrated Systems of the Triangle to anyone needing HVAC, Electrical or Insulation work!"

"We are pleased to recommend Triangle Reconstruction with our highest praise. It seems too simple to say that they do what they said they’d do, but that’s exactly what happened. Our home is around 50 years old. Ours was a large job - around a month and $30,000. We had Triangle Reconstruction come in after another moisture company provided mold remediation and a humidifier. I wish we’d contacted TR to start with. We provided TR with a structural engineering report. They created a plan to exactly meet all of engineer’s concerns. TR used temporary supports and replaced seal plates, girders, and joists for over half of our home. In addition, they poured footers and built new columns. They also added a few additional girders to firm up our floors. They removed and replaced our insulation. They sealed our porch and crawl space, replaced our vapor barrier, and installed a moisture meter. They wrapped our electrical cords and hung them. The people at TR are remarkable. A+++++"

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Yes, basement insulation needs a vapor barrier due to its susceptibility to moisture seeping in from the outside of the house. You should install a moisture barrier before you install insulation or purchase insulation that comes prebuilt with a moisture barrier to avoid water damage in your insulation and costly mold and water remediation expenses.

Sometimes you may be able to leave the bags with your regular trash. However, that’s not always the case. Call your local waste management prior to starting the removal and ask about the proper ways to recycle or dispose of removed insulation. In many cases, your town or municipality has a designated dumpster for building waste.

Unfaced wall insulation is easier to cut and install, making it the better choice for a DIY project. It’s also more affordable. But if it’s unfaced, you’ll likely need to add a vapor barrier to reach your desired R-value and efficiency, as it doesn’t offer any moisture barrier.

Faced insulation uses paper or foil to create a built-in barrier and doesn’t require an extra step. It’s also more fire-resistant and safe. But it’s quite a bit more expensive and a little bit harder to work with as a DIYer.

Spray foam is a highly effective insulative material that can dramatically reduce your energy bills and create a more comfortable living space. It does have a couple of drawbacks, however. First and foremost, spray foam insulation is much more expensive than fiberglass batt insulation. In addition, spray foam insulation is a dangerous chemical material; this is a project that is best left to pros for proper and safe installation.

If you need to insulate behind finished walls, the best option will likely be to have an insulation professional install blown-in insulation. The installation requires small holes cut in your wall, after which the installer can blow loose-fill insulation into the void. After the installation, you’ll have minor drywall patching, which shouldn’t cost more than $100. Compared to ripping down the existing drywall, using a different type of insulation, and replacing and finishing the drywall, this should save you hundreds or even thousands, depending on the size of the room you’re insulating.
