Yes, there are a few different ways you can finance new construction. Some lenders offer new construction loans that cover the building costs and then convert to a standard mortgage once construction is complete. Some custom homebuilders also offer financing options that only require a down payment before you begin the building process. Construction loans are possible, as well, although they typically only cover the building process, and you’ll need to pay in full once the house is completed.

Make sure you’re getting the right size to meet your space needs, including enough space both side to side and vertically to accommodate your RV’s features and allow you to safely move it in and out of the garage. 

If you’re building an attached and enclosed garage for your RV, you’ll also want to give some thought to whether you’d like to add workspace, water or electricity, or additional storage. If so, you’ll need a garage with larger dimensions.

Installing new HVAC can increase a home’s value by 5% to 7%. While installing a mini-split unit in the garage may not offer that much of a boost to the home value, it is a lower-cost option than installing a more traditional cooling system in the garage. Plus, if a cooler garage allows you to spend more time in the space doing tasks you enjoy, it makes the investment worthwhile.

It’s typically less expensive to buy a garage-building kit than to build a garage from scratch if you’re supplying all the labor. However, unless you are an experienced builder, you will still need to hire pros to install the foundation, concrete floor, and add electrical and plumbing to your garage kit. In that case, it’s worth the investment to build a garage through a local garage builder who can coordinate the hiring of other necessary pros.

In most cases, it’s cheaper to build a garage, but it depends on how much of the labor you do yourself. If you can do most of it yourself, it tends to be cheaper than buying a prefab garage. But if you hire a contractor to build it, it’ll likely end up more expensive than a prefab garage.
