"Mose is very talented and easy to work with. I sent him several pictures of fireplace surrounds I liked. He built a prototype and came to the house to discuss and confirm design options before building it in his workshop (no mess at our house was a plus). Typical of an old house, the installation required custom fitting. He took his time and made sure every detail was right. It will look even better once we paint and make it the showcase of the room!"

"Totally understood the work to be done on a 150 year old post and beam barn. Was able to develop solutions for unforseen problems that were encountered. Adhered to the original estimate with some additional work incorporated at an acceptable increase. Very pleasant and professional to deal with. Highly recommend and would hire again."

"Bill did an excellent job. Very professional. Worked quickly, steadily. I had purchased a 2-hour block of his time. He finished in 100 minutes with original work and asked what else was needed...so had him install new smoke detector in ceiling. He was on time, friendly, and clearly knows his stuff. He has a background in custom home building, so he's knowledgeable in multiple areas."

"My husband & I used Sturdy Woodworks to have our kitchen completely redone! The owner Hart Withrow, is actually hands on with his crew, which I admired. He pays a lot of attention to detail and if things aren’t precise, he will redo it until it is. Hart has a strong background in woodworking so we hired him to come back to design, build and install tasteful, elegant yet functional bathroom cabinets & drawers. Not only was the work done on time but it all turned out beautifully. I would most definitely recommend this company for remodeling of both Kitchen & Bathrooms! Not to mention custom woodworking!"

"Tim completely gutted and remodeled our master bath as well as our kids' bathroom. Both turned out wonderful and we are very happy with his work. He put in ceramic tile floors, tiled both showers, installed tubs, toilets, vanities , painted, did all trim and hung all bathroom accessories.
I also hired Tim to do handyman work, he installed new kitchen faucet, new light fixtures, patched drywall in our basement and painted. He also painted our front door and put new hardware on. Everything looks great.
Tim does what he says he is going to do and is very reliable and trustworthy. He is great with communication and pays a lot of attention to detail and does exactly what the customer asks him to do. He offers good suggestions when you're not sure exactly what you want to do. He gave us a fair and honest price and followed through with everything perfectly. He works really hard and rarely even takes a break ! I would definitely recommend Steger Renovations.

Generally, general contractors charge between $50 and $150 hourly, though not every contractor charges by the hour. If charging based on the project, you can expect a markup of 10% to 20% of the construction cost. You can expect to pay between $300 and $500 daily if charged by the day.
General contractors are the ones that coordinate home construction projects. They are in charge of the day-to-day oversight of the subcontractors to ensure that the project is completed on time and to resolve problems as they arise. General contractors:
Complete pre-construction planning, both with the customer and crew
Provide realistic cost estimates
Develop construction timelines
Ensure deadlines are met
Acquire permits as needed
Purchase supplies and materials
While city and state laws vary on general contractor licensing requirements, hiring an unlicensed general contractor could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines for your area.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
