"It was carefully thought out and had to be completely taken down to the original pipes and plumbing in a bathroom 65 years old. The bathroom did not meet requirements or even the parts required now, so everything had to be measured and fitted with updated materials. Added to that, the house was not grounded electrically. All new breakers had to be installed with GFI connections. A window in the shower wall was removed, and the wall and vinyl siding removed and replaced. Insulation was installed in the attic, with new light fixtures, fan, and heater in the ceiling of the shower/tub. All of the very old ceramic tile had to be removed from very old flooring, and old crumbling wall tiles throughout the bathroom. The bathroom was originally 2 small rooms with 2 sinks and 2 toilets. It’s now a whole nice-size bathroom, with one toilet, a double sink, a linen closet, and storage space. The walls between had to be removed, and 4 doors removed. This was a huge time-consuming job, and Mr McGilliad did every step, communicating with me to ensure that I approved of changes made. My new bathroom is beautiful. I would love to have him back when I need anything done with care and experience and kindness again!"

Im a small local construction business or handyman I have over 25 years in repair and remolding working under other companies. I wanted to take the next step and start working under my own name officially. Im not to good with technology so advertising has been hard for me I'm hoping with Angie I'll be able to start finding good jobs. I love to see my customers satisfied with my work. No better feeling than both of us walking away happy and satisfied. So very thankful for future jobs that I can acquire soon! My best work is in Building home decks/porches Putting on siding Tile/flooring Painting roofing drywall so much more

"My time working with El Regio Contruction has been nothing short of frustrating. Our initial date was postponed due to a family issue on his end. He was supposed to be here 8 am sharp on a Wednesday. He did not show up until about 4pm. Well past the time to accomplish anything. Throughout the day he would respond as if he’ll be there to at least start something it wasn’t until he showed up around 4-430 that he said he couldn’t do anything because it was late in the day. He should have communicated that earlier to me and not lead me on. I missed out a a fulls day of work waiting for him. And in today’s economy no one can afford to miss an unpaid day of work. I’ve also learned after receiving quotes from other sources that he was overcharging. He was padding his labor rates because he did not supply any material. I paid him $1,200 for a patch work on my roof, a job that I currently did not need immediately, a job that did not even take 1 hour to do. The size of the repair was about the roof of a standard car. Nothing too drastic. I asked him to replace/repair the area around the kitchen hood vent . He swore that the leak was being caused by my shingles. Luckily it rained later that day after the job was done and there was still a leak. He then tried providing a sketch claiming it was coming from the ridge of the home. As I stated to him I didn’t pay you for guesswork, I paid you for assurances. I called someone else to come out and fix it. They informed me he didn’t work on what I thought was the cause of the leak at all. He also tried to charge me another 1200 to install a front door and replace a piece of subflooring. Once again he isn’t buying the materials for this price. I paid for the $850 door, $100 shingles, the $200 vent, the $25 subfloor. He supplied nothing. He didn’t even have to transport the material (minus the shingles. I went to Lowe’s and purchased them for him and he took them to his vehicle). I found someone else on Angie’s list. The same site I found him to do it for a fraction of that mainly because I already purchased the material. His poor professionalism also delayed the work of other contractors by a week. because they were waiting on him to do his part.Simply put I would not do business with him. He will come up with ways to extend a job or charge you more."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

A new space over the garage offers several upsides, including added living space, more storage space, and boosted home value from the addition. If you create an attached ADU with the space, you could secure more privacy for you and any guests you have, or even some rental income if you rent the area. However, there are some drawbacks to consider, too, including the high up-front cost, the potential need to increase structural integrity, and size restrictions since garages are smaller than an entire floor of your home.

Yes, you’ll need to get building permits from your local municipality to convert your garage to an ADU. You can get the work covered under a remodeling or general construction permit, which can include permission to run or extend utilities to the space to make it legal. If you also plan on renting the space, you’ll need to apply for a rental permit.

No, builders and general contractors don’t expect tips. In fact, some companies may prohibit their employees from accepting client tips. If you want to show gratitude for a job well done, consider writing a review of your builder or contractor or agreeing to be a reference for potential new customers.

The cost of garage storage systems is, on average, between $615 and $2,635. A garage organizing specialist usually charges between $55 and $75 per hour, so completing this project on your own can save you a significant chunk of change. That said, hiring a professional can save you time, and they can help create a perfect system for your items.

Construction typically takes 1-3 weeks, depending on the project’s scope and customization.
