The first crew to arrive took out the old oil furnace and air handler from under the house and prepared the site for a new air handler and heat strips in place of the old oil furnace. They hauled off the old furnace and heat pump. The next wave of workers brought the new air handler and Trane heat pump and installed them. Next came the electricians who ran a new power line from the circuit breaker box under the house to the air handler. The next day the final HVAC inspector came by to test the whole system. I was impressed by how well coordinated the whole process was and how everyone worked together in succession to make the installation process fast and efficient. Their cleanup after the job was very good. The were also good to take off boots before entering the house or wear booties. Boer Bros. also coordinated a $200 rebate from Duke Energy which arrived about a month after the installation. This was for the energy efficient Trane heat pump. We've had the new heat pump and air handler for a month now and are very pleased with the heat they produce (in cold weather) and the increased efficiency of the Trane heat pump. It doesn't cycle on and off nearly as much as the old Amana heat pump we took out. I will definitely use Boer Bros. for HVAC inspections and maintenance in the years to come. Installation does include required plumbing, electrical and drywall/carpentry services as well a needed opening in our roof to install a vent for the gas heater since it is now in our attic (along with a new Trane air conditioner). New insulation also was installed. During the installation process it was necessary to enlarge the attic access and install filter compartments in our home's ceiling. As mentioned above we have been Yellow Dot customers and have been very pleased with their service reps and the company.

We have since had them out 7 times that I have record of to repair issues related to the ductwork insulation, at extreme disruption to mine and my husband’s jobs which are based in our home, and on 2 of those occasions they also had a manager supervising. It’s the least of my concerns at this point but they left a mess each time they came, insulation scraps and screws all over the place and tape stuck to the floor. After all that, the insulation has never been properly adhered to the ductwork and has fallen down repeatedly, there are multiple areas all over our basement where the fiberglass insulation is exposed and where the tape has visibly lifted and the insulation is just resting on top of the duct. Their communication is somehow even worse than their workmanship. I’ve been trying to speak to a manager about a refund since December (I have record of 10 such inquiries I made in that time) and I’ve either been ignored or told that someone will call me and it never happens. They did give me a refund that amounted to roughly 8% of what I paid for the duct wrapping about two weeks ago, without contacting me or letting me know which I found odd, however that is not at all reflective of what I should be refunded after all of this and I think they just did it in hopes that I would leave them alone. I really wanted to resolve this with them amicably and have been exceedingly patient with them but unfortunately that goodwill hasn’t been reciprocated. We paid for our ducts to be wrapped and sealed and I think it’s clear we didn’t get what we paid for."
