Air Velocity Heating & Air Conditioning

We have used this company since we moved to NC and they've always been great.  They let us know if there is something that needs replacing (new filter, freon), for $195 a year.  They used to contact us in the spring and fall to set up an appointment.
This fall we didn't hear from them, and I attempted to schedule a maintenance this winter instead, but didn't hear back from them by email.  Finally I tried calling and did make contact, but scheduling was tough and it just didn't seem professional.  They didn't have our records any more, somehow, and had a bunch of excuses for why they hadn't called us.  Eventually we agreed to schedule a maintenance. I got a call that morning a little before 8:00 asking for our address, which he had forgotten or lost track of. 
The maintenance did happen in a satisfactory manner, but the guy talked about some kinds of difficulty with the company and said the computer had crashed, and that they had lost some personnel, and etc.  I couldn't quite follow it all, but the upshot is that maybe I will try a company that is more stable.  I don't want to hire them again if it is going to be so difficult to schedule.

Miraculous!  We woke to find our AC on the blink in the middle of a terrible heat wave. My husband called Air Velocity, and a live person immediately answered the phone, before 9am. After speaking for a few minutes,  Air Velocity agreed to come over just after lunchtime. Right on time, the repair person diagnosed and corrected the problem. We had our AC back on before 2pm. We still can't believe how rapidly and effectively this was addressed during a time when AC breakdown was rampant in the Raleigh area!  Truly amazing! Thank you!

It is refreshing to have a business actually arrive right on time, complete their task/job in a professional manner and clean up when they are finished. Air Velocity is the ONLY Heating and Air Service I will ever use. They have always been friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. What I like most, is that Bill and his staff have ALWAYS been FAIR and HONEST with me. Bill never takes short cuts or the easy way out. Never a quick fix. He explains the problem and how best to solve it. The job is done right the first time.

He comes in twice a year to clean and tune. I pay him once a year, as I have a service contract. We have two units and he comes twice a year. They are really good, they call before, they are always on time and they clean up afterthemselves. He replaced the unit for us a few years ago. He prices are in line with the guy we used to use before. He is very responsive, he always emails or calls the same day. I usually email him because that is easier for me. They are very professional, show up in uniform, and are very polite.

We have used Air Velocity now for 6 years. Our first experience with Bill was when he graciously came to our house during a thunderstorm when our AC went out. He was prompt, extremely courteous and very reasonably priced. We have had an annual contract with Bill ever since then to keep Heating/AC units in great working condition. He and his team have always acted professionally and worked quickly to fix any problems or just perform annual maintenance. We attribute the lengthened life of our Heating/AC units to his work.







We referred several of our neighbors to Air Velocity - now they have used them for years as well. I've never heard anything but good things from neighbors about Air Velocity. We will continue to refer Air Velocity and Bill's team to anyone who needs a great Heating/AC company.

Our house has two heating and air systems. When the upstairs system started to go, we called Bill onthe recommendation of one of our neighbors. Our old company had said that it needed to be replaced. Bill came and fixed the upstairs system and it has been running just fine for the last two years. We did need a new downstairs system. Bill not only installed it, but helped us clean out the basement. It has been running fine. He is here when needed to do maintenance check twice a year and comes promptly if needed in between. I recommend him without reservation.

Air Velocity
We have had a service contract with Air Velocity since the companies inception. Bill and his staff have ALWAYS done an outstanding job of maintaining my system. They always arrive when they are scheduled to. On one occasion, while in route to my home there was a traffic accident on the highway. I received a call informing me of the situation and pending delay. The delay was not long. I was very impressed with the fact that I actually got a call. Bill and or every single employee upon entering my home to do work have ALWAYS either taken their shoes/boots off or slipped a plastic cover over their footwear so as not to track dirt on my floors or rugs. That simple act always impressed me. I have NEVER had to call them back for any reason after they completed the work. Bill once found a small leak outside my home and took the time to explain what the problem was, the ramifications if not fixed, and in detail told me how the repair would be made.
My second floor unit had a rust spot where the drain hole was. The dripping rusty water continually stained my white siding. At no charge to me it was ingeniously repaired. It looks good and more importantly I have not had a problem since.
My cousin purchased a home in the area. I strongly suggested Air Velocity to maintain his heating and cooling system. His home is 5,000 square feet with an unfinished upstairs. I sat with my cousin, as Bill, with great knowledge and detail explained how and what needed to be done to the upstairs. My cousin had previously received a slightly lower quote from another heating and cooling specialist in the area. However, the "other guy" did not make any mention of the necessary permits that would be needed. Huh.......I wonder why? In no uncertain terms Bill said he would never do any work, under any circumstances, if the proper permits were not first secured. That alone told me that Air Velocity takes no shortcuts, is honorable and is 100% honest. Bill also provided my cousin with a detailed "drawing" of the upstairs layout. He explained where, why and how all work was to be done "to code specifications," as required by North Carolina law. My cousin, by nature, is a very skeptical person. He hired, and signed a contract with Air Velocity to do the job on the spot! Work will most likely be done sometime this spring.
My cousin also asked Bill if he would throughly inspect his 2 outside units to make sure everything was ok. I'll be brief. There were a number of problems that existed due to the neglect of the prior owner. Since cousin is in the process of selling his current out of state residence he had to return home the next day. Within days Bill called me and set up an appointment to make the needed repairs. I watched for 5 hours as Bill meticiously fixed everyting. He double checked for leaks and did not stop until he was satisfied that everything was in proper working order.
I would like to state that who ever wrote the negative remarks about Bill and Air Velocity was NOT talking about the Bill I have known for 6+ years. I have no idea why he or she wrote what they did, but I feel EXTREMELY confident that what they claimed was said or happened is pure fiction.
I am 110% satisfied with every bit of work Air Velocity has ever done for me and my family. I see no need for any other heating and cooling company do any work on my home. In my humble opinion, and based upon my experiences here is no better company than Air Velocity!

Our heating unit simply died over the weekend. One of Bill's staff came out on Sunday and diagnosed the problem quickly. The unit needed a new part which they do not keep in stock. Since the weather was going to stay warm Sunday night, we decided to have the work completed the next day. The guys arrived ahead of the scheduled time on Monday and got us back up and running in a timely manner. As always, they were knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous; very professional in my opinion.

For the second time in under 4 years in a brand new home, I had an AC unit that was not working at all. Like the previous time, I started with the company who did the installation, Weathermaster. My experience with Weathermaster for my first outage was so horrendous and they messed up so much that they ended up having to admit the problem had been caused during their original installation and not by the countless other things they tried to blame it on, including that it was my fault because I'd been nearly 30 days late changing out an air filter. But they made it right in the end so I went back to them. Plus I didn't realize that I could get warranty part service from another provider. When I called Weathermaster, with no working AC upstairs and on a maintenance contract - they scheduled me for a WEEK later! So I called Air Velocity and explained that I had another outage with another Goodman unit and needed it addressed sooner than a week out. Bill (the owner) returned my call within an hour and had a crew at my house later that day! And he had never met me before and I had no contract. His team did a thorough set of diagnostics that took about 30 mintues and then reviewed all of my issues. I had several coolant leaks (in a NEW system!) I was so bummed that this was happening again but I decided to wait and see what Weathermaster said (because I had not realized Bill's team was telling me that the parts would still be under warranty with them - although they had explained it in hindsight but I was so frustrated to be in this spot again with a new house that I didn't hear it the first time.) When Weathermaster did come out, it was another nightmare. The tech acted like it was a giant favor they had fit me in so soon, took about 6 minutes to do diagnostics (without using any of the equipment the AV guys had used) and told me I had a problem I knew was wrong based on the previous tests. When I asked how he was sure without doing tests he was annoyed and told me "experience!" He then quoted me a price MUCH higher than what AV had and demanded a giant downpayment even though the parts were under warranty. He said the parts downpayment would be applied to services later and the downpayment was to get me a place in the queue since they were very busy - this even knowing I'd had a terrible experience with them the year before and this was the redemption opportunity!! I declined their help and declined to pay for the service call (which he didn't care about at all) and called Bill at AV right away. He helped me immediately and even worked with me to petition help from Goodman for our community since so many of these new Goodmans are failing so early in their lives. Of course the service was done on time, on budget, and very well. I could not be more pleased with this company and I consider it the best experience I have had with any vendor for my home in any category.

It was great! Bill came out and did an estimate for me right away, even though he was very busy, and provided a clear, detailed estimate of the work I wanted. He was very thorough in his calculations and called to make sure that he had correct information about the insulation in the house, etc, so as to size the system appropriately. He was very conscientious about returning phone calls and emails as we communicated about the job. When I decided to go ahead with the job, he worked with me to schedule the work at a good time, and made sure to get it done by the end of the year so I would be able to claim the energy efficiency tax credit. I was especially impressed by his concern about making sure that I would have heat during the transition (I was changing from electric to gas heat). He worked with the people from PSNC and the town to make sure the work could get inspected and the gas meter installed with the minimum delay. He even brought electric space heaters for me in case there was a delay in getting the gas turned on. Bill's crew did an excellent job, and were friendly and pleasant to deal with as well. They cleaned everything up and left the job site in perfect condition. The system works wonderfully, and I would hire Bill again in a heartbeat. I feel very confident in his work, and I also know that he would stand behind the quality of the equipment he sells and make sure that any problems were put right immediately. I have nothing but good things to say about this company!

Mr. Garcher came out to do an estimate on sealing our ductwork. We live in an old house, and we had discovered that some of the ducts were leaking badly into the unheated basement. When he first looked at the situation, he was concerned that the way the ductwork was installed many years ago would make it difficult or impossible to do a thorough job. He was initially reluctant to take on the job because he would not be able to do it as well as he would like. After some discussion, we eventually decided that it would be worth doing something about the most troublesome areas even if we could not make the system perfect. He proposed doing the work on a time-and-materials basis, since it was unclear how long it would take. He gave a preliminary estimate of costs, and then emailed me with a detailed estimate the next day. We agreed on the work and he was able to schedule a time to come when we could be at home. He worked very hard to get the ducts sealed, addressing some major problems that had been there since the system was originally installed. He completed the job within the time he had estimated, and left a clean worksite. We are satisfied with the job he did and look forward to the positive effect on our heating efficiency this winter.
