"Very well. Techs were held up but called to alert me and arrived exactly when they predicted. They were quick and efficient, and also very respectful of the home. They finished more quickly then anticipated. The HVAC system is quieter since they performed the work and I notice less dust. I could not be more pleased."

"Short: Had them replace my upstairs full HVAC system, completely walked through all possible options to make it perfect and extremely happy with every single employee that I came in contact with from Jon the owner, to Jordy the air flow expert to the installers Wayne and Kevin. Will only use them for service/maintenance/issues going forward. Long: We had a different AC company come out for a tune up, they said that our blower needed to be replaced and that there was mold found. It was going to be close to $1k to replace so I started looking at replacing the whole system since it was 10 years old. Comfort Monster came out and actually showed me the system and that there wasn't any mold or growth that he could find. He told me in his opinion the system looked exactly like a 10 year old system should and there wasn't anything that needed to be done. He stated flat out he wouldn't suggest doing anything instead of trying to sell me on anything. I work from home full time and it gets really uncomfortable so I made the decision to do it anyway. Jon was in contact with me and gave me an awesome price on an amazing system. Jordy came out and walked through everything I could do to improve the system from increasing/decreasing ducts in the attic to adding a media filter. I had never heard of a media filter, but went with it because I wasn't changing my filters in the 12 foot ceilings like I should have. Installers were awesome. So courteous, they actually put down a plastic strip up our stairs so as not to track anything. In addition put down protection under the attic so as not to damage the floors. Extremely happy with the whole experience, will be recommending them to everybody."

"It was a Sunday, and my elderly parents were visiting, and the temperature outside was forecast to be in the 90s. The house was very hot, so I called at 7:30 AM, not thinking I would get through to anyone, but not too long after that, I got a phone call from their office, and before noon, the owner of the business (who was covering for his employees so they could take off the July 4th holiday), personally came to my house to fix our air conditioner. I will never call a different HVAC contractor again. Any time I need this kind of help, I only have one number to call. I strongly recommend R&C Service to anyone needing HVAC help."

"Streamline Services is my go to place for plumbing and hvac repairs. I always have fantastic and speedy service. My last service call was truly exceptional and worth taking the time to review. I knew I needed my water heater replaced, and also a repair to my air conditioning system. I didn't feel pressured, and the technician answered every question I had, and I did not feel rushed into any decision. From the first phone call, to the time of install, I received nothing but great customer service. I won't call anyone else."

Small jobs welcome

"Very good experience with this company from front to back. Great, prompt, customer service from Marshall on the phone when I put in the lead, followed up by a very good experience with Travis and Jimmy on the job. They showed up right on time, despite Travis even being on crutches with a broken foot! They were very friendly efficient and explained everything as they went, and gave some great advice about how to maintain the system going forward. Had a good discussion about getting my fireplace up and running too when the time comes. Definitely will be using this company again for any HVAC needs in the future!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

No, it's not advisable to only replace the outside AC unit connected to your system. AC units are designed to work as a cohesive system, and older units work differently than newer units. Therefore, replacing only one component can lead to incompatibilities that affect the system’s performance. Replacing one component can void your warranty, costing you money for repairs.

An undersized whole-house generator has the potential to overheat and shut down when you try to run a central AC system. This scenario can not only damage the whole-house generator, but can also trip your home’s breakers or cause electrical damage. To avoid this situation, hire a local generator installer to correctly size your whole-house generator.

It is possible to add air conditioning to an older home, but it can be very expensive to do so. Expect to pay anywhere from $6,000 to $17,000 or more for the ductwork and AC unit. You’ll also have to hack into the home’s walls and ceilings to add ductwork, which can impact the aesthetics of an old home.

An HVAC system typically lasts between 10 and 30 years, with an average lifespan of 15 to 25 years. The longevity of the system is influenced by factors such as the quality of the unit, usage frequency, local climate, and how well it is maintained. Regular maintenance, including cleaning, filter replacements, and professional inspections, can help maximize its lifespan. Different components within the system have varying life expectancies. For example:

  • Furnaces: 15 to 30 years

  • Boilers: 20 to 35 years

  • Air Conditioners (AC units): 12 to 20 years

  • Heat Pumps: 10 to 20 years

  • Ductless Mini-Splits: 10 to 30 years

There are a few ways to reduce your electricity bills if you use window AC units to keep cool. Set the unit temperature at least 1 degree higher than it is currently to reduce costs. Keep the unit clean for it to run efficiently. You may want to hire a window AC specialist near you to inspect the unit once a year and keep it in tip-top shape.
