"The service and results received by Tile by Chris were AMAZING! Chris arrived timely and the workers did a very professional and wonderful job installing a tile backsplash in our kitchen which also involved adjusting and re-installing molding. Chris takes pride in his excellent work and leaves the area professionally clean after the project is complete. Chris is quite knowledgeable in several areas of construction and can provide suggestions and estimates for additional home projects you may be considering. We are so thankful we were able to have Chris provide his services for us! We highly recommend this company without hesitation and will hire them again as needed."

"It went great. Every step of the way, the company was very responsive to our questions and requests. Maria and Chris have been really awesome to deal with. The crew came in and quickly and efficiently removed the old flooring and installed the planking. The job they did was highly satisfactory. They were actually recommended by a salesman from another company we are doing business with. The salesman had hired them to do several jobs for himself and his mother's home apparently and he was highly satisfied. I would definitely recommend them. We also have another job lined up already for them to install a backsplash for us and replace a broken tile in our kitchen floor."

"This was my first internet referral experience and I was not disappointed. Bryan made it a great experience. His knowledge and wisdom was excellent. He went way beyond the call of duty helping me decided on a new sink and installing it. Our countertops look brand new which was a decision I hesitated on investing in versus replacing them. His work is excellent and his standard is of perfection. I cannot say enough about our experience. His was professional, honest and dependable. You will not be disappointed in hiring him. This day and time it is very hard to find outstanding work but Bryan is one of the rarities."

"We decided it was time to remodel a Jack-n-Jill bathroom our Wake Forest home. This would be the 4th bathroom (and last) to be redone in this home. We wanted the project to start soon after the holidays, so started the research process in November. Steve came to our home to discuss the project and quote us an estimated cost. We explained that we wanted to eliminate the tub/shower combo and convert it to only a shower. We also needed the tile floors removed and replaced. We were surprised that he recommended Delta faucets, linoleum flooring and acrylic tile for the shower surround. Since we didn’t want plastic finishes, we agreed that we would purchase the porcelain/ceramic tile and Kohler shower fixtures then The Bath Shop would install the material. The company would also provide the glass shower door. Later we emailed Steve a picture of the glass shower door in our master bathroom to be used as an example for the shower door we wanted for the Jack-n-Jill bathroom. We were pleased that Steve gave us a detailed description of the work that would be done by the company in writing. By December 1st we had settled on the details and price of the job so we wrote a check and gave Steve the deposit. Construction began when the project manager (Blake) arrived on January 11th. After taking precautions to protect our home and review the project with us, he immediately began demolition. We were amazed at how much he accomplished on his own. Blake was always professional, kind and respectful. We were happy to work with him. He assembled the space for the shower, arranged to have the initial plumbing set and called to have the city inspector scheduled. January 12th - After we presented the plumber (John) with the values, shower bar, hose, trim, etc. provided by Kohler, he and his crew laid the material for the shower floor and put in the water pipes. January 13th - The inspector arrived and failed the work. There should have been metal plates surrounding the pipes for protection. John decided to try a new rubber product. He didn’t realize this base is installed differently than similar products on the market. We figured mistakes happen; this wasn’t a major error. Fortunately the inspector was observant and the errors were corrected. January 18th – The inspector returned, gave us a pass and permission to continue with the tile. Chris arrived to begin the process of tiling the floors and shower. He did a thorough job of mounting all the necessary pieces to ensure the shower would be leak proof. His completed work is precise and beautiful. He was also neat, courteous and proficient. All tile work was finished on Saturday, January 28th Monday the 30th, Bob arrived to measure for the shower door. He must have a elaborate system for this process. He used sophisticated tools and spent about 30 minutes checking dimensions. We also showed him the door in the master bathroom to illustrate the look we wanted for this bathroom. Later that day we received an email from the owner of The Bath Shop (Justin). He wanted to introduce himself and had a question about the shower door. The price came in higher than the quote. This is because the door we requested uses clips instead of a u-channel to keep it in place. Justin agreed to honor the quoted price of the door. February 2ndt - The plumber returned to finish installing the shower pieces. He realized he didn’t plumb properly for the Kohler fixture. He is used to dealing with Delta products and the coupler he used was not the right size. He asked us to order a replacement part. February 3nd – Justin came to our home to look at the project and collect a partial payment ($5,600). It seems his employees do not keep him posted on their jobs. Justin was not aware that the plumber had made mistakes and was causing delays. February 8th – The new Kohler part was delivered and the plumber was here again to finish his portion of the job. He announced that this is not the right part. We confirmed that we ordered the part he said he needed. We told him he would need to call Justin and work this out. John went to his truck to make a phone call. After a while we went looking for John to see if a solution had been made. John was gone and took the Kohler part with him. He never told us he was leaving or when he’d return. February 15th – The shower door is to be installed. There has been an error in manufacturing; the door is ¼ inch off. Only half the door can be installed. John returns with another pipe and finishes installing the shower fixtures. February 20th – We receive an email from Justin explaining the job is finished and last payment is due. He attaches an invoice for the final sum. The invoice does not include the payment we provided on February 3rd. We are shocked that he doesn’t know the shower door is not complete and has forgotten about a $5,600 check. There are a lot of issues we will overlook, but misplacing thousands of dollars of our money is not funny. We tell him we need a corrected invoice before we will write another check. February 21st – Bob returns to measure for a replacement of half the shower door. He promises to put a rush order of the job. March 6th – The shower door is finally installed. March 9th – Wake Forest inspector approves the work. We receive another email from Justin requesting final payment. He attaches another invoice and it is still wrong."

"We contacted Ado to help finish our cabinet install after a bad experience working with Lowe’s kitchen remodel services. He helped resolve our main concerns from the Lowe’s installation by the end of the first week. His team also did a full remodel including backsplash, plumbing, electrical, lighting and appliance installation. Excellent customer service and quality work. We look forward to working with Ado on future projects."

"The entire process from consultation to installation was excellent. The estimate wait time was 6 to 8 weeks, but they called and said the materials came in early so they came in just 2 weeks. The installers, Oscar M. and Zack S. were excellent. They were courteous and took great care in protecting the floors and walls. I am very pleased with the acrylic subway tile look shower and oil-rubbed bronzed fixtures. I high recommend this company."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Taking the time to properly prepare your tile backsplash before painting and treating it with care afterward is the best way to ensure its longevity. While the tile can last for the life of the home, you may have to repaint it after a few years. However, using only mild cleanser and water to keep it clean can maximize the paint's lifespan.

On average, tiling a bathroom involves about 12 hours of labor, usually spread over two to three days to accommodate prep work and curing times. A professional tiler can often complete the installation in 6 to 8 hours, whereas a DIYer might take 10 to 16 hours. The total project time is influenced by factors like the bathroom layout, tile type, and necessary prep work, such as removing old tile. The process includes specific timelines for different areas; for example, tiling a floor takes about six hours, while a shower area can take six to ten hours. It is essential to allow for adequate curing time—typically 24 hours each—for the mortar, grout, and caulk, which is why the project extends over several days.

Lack of durability is the most significant downside of painting tile. However, a painted tile backsplash doesn't see the same kind of action as, say, painted flooring tiles. For backsplashes, the durability of the finish is crucial because they often require cleaning. However, you can minimize the durability problem by using mild cleaners and water on the painted surfaces.

Uniform spacing between tiles is important for a professional and clean appearance. To achieve this spacing, tile spacers should be placed between the tiles and left in place until the mortar hardens and the tiles are secure. You can use X-shaped spacers vertically in between the tiles and laid flat at the corners.

Yes, tiling a bathroom is a great way to boost your home's value, especially if you are replacing old or dated flooring. Adding a new tile floor can deliver a return on investment (ROI) of around 56.4%, with some projects offering up to 100% ROI. Buyers appreciate new tile because it provides a modern look and is known for being durable, water-resistant, low-maintenance, and easy to clean. For the best results and highest return, consider hiring a professional, as tiling mistakes can be very noticeable and detract from the value.
